What do you think -- is this company going to survive and thrive? Are they looking to expand their staff, or do you think layoffs are inevitable?

How does Dillard's stack up against the competition?

This is the worst company to work for. I think that the Dillards in Moline has went through ever single person in the quad cities to employ. The have no compassion for the hard work that you do. They want you to fight like animals for sales and then what do they do? they cut your pay and eventually fire you. You have no chance to make a career with dillards unless well im sure you can quess

Its true they dont appreciate your hard work. They go through so many associates, hiring and firing. The Harlingen,TX store has the worst dept managers, the majority treat their associates like dogs. Even though one complains about them to store management, its no use they wont'ever get fired because they are all buddies.

I worked for Dillards for 27 years and they let me go over a misunderstanding about a store policy.I know they let me go because i would be retiring in about 7 years and don't want to pay my retirement.Dillard in Waco is really a crummy company towork for and the management is really terrible along with all the asms.

Dillard's is not a very inspiring place to work, unless you are very greedy and cut throat and (veryimportant) get lucky enough to work in a busier dept. it is very hard to make it. It is very unfair the way it is set up. Their is favoritism there also. Some people just have the better depts and not many people work in then so they can make their goal and the rest just have to scrabble for what ever few customers come int to your area. Also, you have many other tasks to do. It is almost like the managers don't want you to sell. Just do busy work. I really don't know how they survive, the store is always dead.

2nd cut in LA in Prairieville, Louisiana

Dillard's in Louisiana is not a very nice place to work either!!! I've worked there 5 years and I'm about to get my 2nd pay cut. The associates will stab you in the back for a sale because of the quota system!Managers make sure certain people get their sales while the others do the dirty work (markdowns, putting out new merchandise, dustings etc,,)Certain people don't work nights and weekends either!!Sure they pay well but in the end the take it all back and they fire you! I've had many friends who were fired because of(no)sales. How are we suppose to make sales when Dillard's doesn't bring enough customer in to support our pay?? It's a NIGHTMARE and I'm waking up!!!

Dillard's may be around for a long time, but if the continuous problems that I have seen with mismanagement and employee mistreatment continue they will eventually go the way of Hess's, Sear's and others that have declined and settle for the retail scraps. Dillard's has already begun to close stores and lay off hundreds of emplyees in East Tennessee.
