Just pay attention to the news...we are scheduled to pull (at least the majority) out of Iraq by Dec 31 this year. I believe Iraq has to request us to stay longer...maybe when time gets closer, they'll consider doing so... |

Anything the US Federal Government is involved with becomes a nightmare. There's a rule and regulation for everything. Thousands of pages of rules and regulations that the employer and each and every employee must strictly adhere to. Very simply, there is not enough time in the day or night to ever complete your job effectively. It's a bureaucratic nightmare. So, what happens. In order to get your job done you go around the rules and regulations because, by adhering to the rules and regulations, you would get nothing done and I mean nothing. Be prepared to do what is necessary to do your job. You will try to do your job in accordance with government policies. You will work long hours, work on days off, work on holidays, sleep very little, and still nothing constructive will get done. You see, those pesky government policies will not allow you to do a credible job simply because no human can work 50 hours a day in order to comply with those policies. Go with the flow. Do as little as possible, just like everyone else is doing, don't worry about anything, and you will fit in fine. As far as the living conditions are concerned. It all depends on what company you are working for, where your assignment is located, what country you are in, and what your actual position is. In IRAQ the conditions have become civilized with most employees living in fully equipped modular units on bases or in the green zone. In Afghanistan living conditions are still primitive. However, you will always have enough food, a clean place to sleep, medical care, etc. I believe that large permanent tent living is pretty common in Afghanistan. In Kuwait you will live on the economy in an apartment. |

Can anyone tell me what the medical process is in Dubai and what else you have to do when there? |

Rally Man in United Kingdom said: Can anyone tell me what the medical process is in Dubai and what else you have to do when there? Medical process is a full screen check, blood, urine (for drugs), eyesight which is not to hard, dental including a panoramic x-ray, hearing, cholesterol and BMI checks. If you're over a certain age, IIRC 40, you also take an ECG. You will need to get a Mantoux test before coming out and if the result is positive then you will need a chest x-ray as well. You'll also get your vaccinations if required. Sounds tough but it really isn't. In Dubai you will do the usual in house type courses with the real focus on sex discrimination and trading regulations (this is really an American thing), there are also classes on PPE, a little about the Afghan background, IT security and the in house time logging system. |

Seems like it would be in Iraq's/Nouri's interest to keep the gravy train going with US LOGCAP assistance there. I havent heard any news of Iraq saying they want all LOGCAP out. Of course, you never know what will happen in future, even with our own government! |

LOGCAP is directly tied to US troop levels, you aren't going to find the news reporting LOGCAP specifically. For every troop that comes pulls out, the need for a contractor decreases. Coalition forces that have their own bases have their own O&M contractors. LOGCAP does support a lot of foreign troops, but in an indirect manner, the primary purpose is to support our own. No US forces, no LOGCAP. |

My advice...don't miss a roll call, do not report in while intoxicated, dress like you are a professional and not on vacation, and never miss a single scheduled class. I processed in Dubai, straight out of KBR Iraq several months back. I witnessed several incidents and subsequent expulsions from the processing center for such actions. A US colleague missed a class a couple of weeks ago during his processing and was consequently terminated. They do not tolerate insubordination irregardless of nationality. On another note, if you wish to have an adult toddy or two, it will save you a tremendous amount of money if you stock up at the duty free while exiting the airport. Liquor prices are outrageous in the pubs. |

But depending on your FOB its an easy 12 and goes by fast. But dont expect any days off because they will cost you. |

Hi. I have a question for us. I got from dyncorp by email a contract and visa application form to go to Afganistan. I sent them back all the paper's within my signature and photo. After one day I got from them information, that everything is perfect...They wrote me also that I have to call to "Clifford Chance Chambers & Solicitors" to show them the "Active Secret UK Security Clearance/Affidavit of Oath for Terrorism from the British High Court". When I was calling to "Clifford Chance Chambers & Solicitors", I heared from them, that I have to pay 1.460 dollars for this "Active Secret UK Security Clearance.....". Can somebody tell me is everyhing ok? Is normall to pay amount of 1.460 dollars for this paper or this all email's which I got from Dyncorp are fraud? |

And also the stay in Dubai? Women stay in Dubai at the same hotels as everyone else, you will be sharing rooms so don't expect too much privacy in your first few weeks. Once in South Park, you will be in a very large tent, at the moment they only have one tent for the females be advised it is very, very crowded. If you stay at KAF you will be accommodated at Hicks, IIRC, most of the females have their own Conex but don't quote me on that. If you get sent to a FOB then it is really pot luck, the one I'm in, they have their own room (actually more a partitioned space in a dome tent but it is enclosed) but at some they will be in a single sex tent. It really is a bit of a lottery but if you come expecting the worse then you might be pleasantly surprised at the end of the day. Whatever happens just lie back and enjoy the ride :) |

Salty- I have been reading these post and hope I have the privilege to work with you. From what I understand I will be working as a LGIV warehousemen SR in KAF I have been doing ammo and logistics management for SOF the past 11 YRS supporting all FOB and warehouse coordinator just as long. Three questions- 1. Can you provide any heads up job responsibilities outside posted job description and can I do R&R after one YR and get my job back? 2. Below is the clearance I received by e-mail from DI security officer, will I have to do another in Texas? 3. I did a full physical for URS to include all shots and blood work, am bring documentation, will I have to have them again? I turned down URS monitor job for DI. My HR REP mentioned 19 June fly possibe out date…..I hope she gives me a go for that.

Warning to any UK guys and girls coming out. If you have to pay for registration to a private clinic for your TB test, get it put on the same reciept, because if its seperate Dyncorp will only pay for the TB Test.

Robert Ama in Clarksville, Tennessee said: That was quick and thanks - lets go for another - Can't help with that stuff Robert, don't work for Dyn. As far as clothes though, pack light, real light. Keep in mind you have to drag this stuff half way around the world. Have a box packed with extra stuff that you can have shipped to you once you get there. 4 pants, 5 shirts, shoes, boots, and toiletries should get you by till the rest gets here. If you stay at KAF, you can buy other stuff there, if you don't, buy it on your way through. If you are a senior like you just mentioned, collard polos or the like wouldn't be a bad thing. Mail takes about 10-15 days, 10 if you're on a big site, to get to you. |

Robert... I would not count on them taking your prior physical. I feel yout pain with questions when it comes to Dyncorp though. They don't give much in the area of information. My HR rep has been great, but info leaves a lot to be desired. I usually get short yes or no answers for my questions. I know they stay busy but..... I am trying to get overseas for a position. Been offered, completed paperwork, dental, drug screen and so forth. But now have sort of come to a stand still. They were trying to process a LOA when it seems there was a system issue that resulted in me have to contact my old company. That issue was fixed but now waiting on another response. Dyncorp's process is comletely different and somewhat confusing than other contracts I have done in LOGCAP. |

I’ve been trying to work overseas with Fluor, DynCorp, Halliburton, KBR, ITT, Honeywell and many others. For almost 6 years I applied online retweaked my resume quite a few times and called recruiters as well as tried to contact them through LinkedIn and I get no answer. I have a friend who has no experience but has army experience and has been offered positions numerous times although he and a few of his friends are very under qualified. Has anyone had any luck without having army experience or knowing someone that works in these companies? Is there a recruiter on here willing to give a 6 year Administrative Assistant looking to advance his career? I just want the opportunity to excel. |
