So, the rumor is another group of EDS employees will be getting the boot mid July. The proverbial fat has begun to be trimmed by the release of a group of temporary employees over the weekend.

Can anyone confirm with estimated numbers and severance package information?

I tried. My comments did not show up-and there were no nasty words!?
Anyhow, the rumors I have heard are not substantiated but the general mood is that they are coming. The general mood I hear is that the HP-driven bllodletting is yet to come. What will HP do with some of the small, barely profitable accounts they will soon own?

Yes it's true. Effective today 7/31/08 While the stockholders are meeting, layoffs are going on. No information on how many but the severence package is basically 2 weeks pay for every year of service up to 10 years.

R Bla in Plano,
What about partial years? For example, 3 years and 10 months, would the severence package be for 3 years or for 4 years in this scenario?

Severance is for years completed. So if you were hired 1/1/07 and "severed" 7/31/08, that would be 1 year. EDS does integer arithmetic.

Hope they have good deals

Anyone have the layoff numbers for EHRO in NJ?

Just curious to see how many of the smug folks were let go. Most were so sure they were 10000% secure.

The few good workers, I befriended are still there, as of last night.

I'm still in the Cherry Hill office. I don't know who you've been talking to, but I don't know of any smug people here. Everyone I know, myself including, feel anything but safe. We know it is just a matter of time until it is our turn. Whether that is a good thing or not, there are differing opinions.

Wednesdays layoffs were not as big as other ones, at least in apps. We are pretty bare bones as it is. They can't do too many more large ones unless they decide to get rid of the business.

I heard that Europe got hit today. I know that engineers, managers and architects in Delivery went today. Applications is apparently due for cuts tomorrow. One group heard that they took a 20% reduction. Next round: 1/31.

Can Doo in Calgary, Alberta

I am in Calgary, Alberta.

I received a Package from EDS, and the $ was calculated as 2 weeks required by law, plus 3.64 weeks per year on staff. So in my case I received 42 weeks for 11 years on staff.

How many are left in the building? Do you think my next trip through Woodcrest will have another empty lot on Saturday?

I'm sure it will continue to look empty around WOO but keep in mind, there's almost 200 people that will be coming from the Philly location. And now that the Wayne location is off the table for anyone to work out of (not that there were that many seats up for grabs, anyway).

Temps cost less than actual direct hires... this is why they are hiring temps.
