Every business has it's own style. What is the office environment and culture like at EMC? Are people dressed in business casual, jeans and t-shirts, or full-on suits? Do folks get together for Friday happy hours and friendly get-togethers? What is a typical day in the life of an employee at EMC? |

I am in the initial stages of intervewing for a job at EMC in Hopkinton. As a minority applying for a non-engineering job, should I even bother? It seems like a good opportunity.... but in this day and age, I don't need to see the disappointed looks when they see that I am non-white. |

I can vouch for the fact that the only thing they're going to care about is your expertise and your passion. Almost nobody in corporate america could care less about color, sexuality, gender, height, hair color, etc. these days, and that includes EMC. Being a Yankees fan can get you in trouble, though, unless you're Joe Tucci (CEO and Yankees fan) |

Let's not be so naive (Having or showing unaffected simplicity of nature or absence of artificiality; unsophisticated; ingenuous), almost nobody is a very large number. Now we Afrikcan-American have had a much different experience in the work place, I know I know, Black folks crying again playing the victim. Right, lets be real the truth of the matter is that Race is a huge factor in employment, education, housing you name it. Black people are going to have to

I had worked at EMC for 5 year before I left and started my own company. When I was there, the place was full of corporate bullies. It was not because these people were born to be bullies but the company culture forced them to be. Most of people's compensation was driven by meeting their qtrly goals. However, every individual goal was set individually and not necessarily aligned with other employees' or the organizations. So it created lots organizational conflicts because everyone felt their goals were the most important ones and others' were not. When an organization had limited resources, the only people got any were the corporate bullies. Then again, I'm sure EMC's HR dept was fully aware of this organizational behavior as a result of this compensation scheme. So if you are weak at heart or a nice person, you probably won't survive at EMC. If you can take people "challenge" you constantly to do more and achieve more, and not crack under the pressure, EMC is the company for you. |

I've just been offered a position at EMC Mexico as either Field Service Manager or Project Manager Assistant, but can not find the description of neither on the web. Can you tell me which might be better? |

I worked at EMC for more than four years. If a black person walked through the cafeteria at HQ, everyone noticed.

I just have to disagree with the negative comments above. The company has been transformed under Joe Tucci. We're a truly global company, with people of all races, all over the place. For a more balanced view, check out Polly Pearson's blog (pollypearson.typepad.com)or Dave Spencer's blog (www.davidkspencer.com) to name a couple of EMC bloggers. |

Some of the people in this company are nice, but a lot of the gentlemen here have big heads. An old boys place. If you are a woman it is tough here. I wanted to stay, but am considering on leaving. Too bad! |
