FedEx National is a great company to work for. I too was a Watkins employee and found that working for Watkins was great and rewarding as well. However, the two companies have or at least FedEx has a diffrent FUTURE company outlook. The objective is to be number one! I am a person that is very pleased with that attitude as it also spills over into my job area as a local P & D driver. I and the other drivers that work out of my division strive to be number one in all and everything that we do, safety, on time deliveries, customer retention and good quality communication skills with our dispatchers and operations. We all come to work in uniform, clean and ready and prepared to put forth 110 percent every day... in order that we become number one. 1. UPS 2. FedEx... We are gaining on UPS as our overall Net income was much greater in percentage as was UPS which staid stagnant for the same year that FEDEX bought Watkins. Just as you would do as a person buying a business you will find ways to cut cost and raise your NET INCOME. So, when you look at Watkins, an in the black profitable trucking LTL company. Which is why FedEx bought them, you still have to look at personell that are doing the same things and overlapping one another. Example: five red shirts are not needed to give out the same information in ONE outbound tower! So, that sad part of becoming number one is to cut people from the team that are not usefull on your team. No need for5 quarterbacks. Hard to do, when a number of the people that you cut are good, decent, quality people who have and maybe are even better than the person that was kept on board. But, was hired before those cut! So, I am and thousands of others are very pleased and happy about being part of a wonderful company that is working very hard to be number one in the field they are in, while maintaiing a 99% on time delivery to customers. As well as great customer relations attitude accross the board from managment to ou |
