What do you think -- is this company going to survive and thrive? Are they looking to expand their staff, or do you think layoffs are inevitable?

How does Fifth Third Bank stack up against the competition?

Any bank that would allow Fred Pezeshkan to be on the board of directors can't be much of a bank.

I have only worked for this bank for a few weeks now and I can tell you, WE WILL survive and WE WILL thrive! Without a doubt. I do not think that anyone who doesn't know about the bank or work for the bank should be stateing anything. If you have not been inside a company to see how it works then what do you know? I personally did not think much of them until now. They have great ethical standards, and they treat their employees wonderfully. I would never want to trade my position for anything else. Without working for this company I would not have been able to say these things, and niether should anyone else who doesn't know the in's and out's of the place. Point Ended.

As a ex manager my advice is don't work for 53 unless you are good at office politics, if you are good at it and then get ajob there because of the turn over they have kiss the righ butt and you will get promoted really really fast.

I know of a certain regional manager in the chicago area, if you are a you man and know how to flirt with her you will be promoted really really fast.

To anonymous in lakeview, mi, I do have experience working for this bank and it's awful. They do not treat their employees wonderfully in every department. In most, they don't. They don't care about you.

I worked for a bank that is primarily found in a large grocery store chain that rhymes w/ cool. The environment at 5/3 is hands down much better. While it depends on which location you will be working at you will work hard, without a doubt. The environment is a typical bank, suits and business attire.

While I am not an insider by any means, just an employee I can only tell you that this company is expanding, and they are committed to doing so. The new senior management knows what they are doing since they have transplanted talent from the west coast, w/ successful banking backgrounds. They take customer service serious and are aggressive in seeking opprotunity. They have huge plans for Chicago and I really think they will be big here when all is said and done.

I am not drinking the coolaid, just comparing the old environment to the new one. We will definitly be poised to take on Chase and BOA and be a force in the midwest. Chicago will develop fine.

just got laid off, mentioned this in a previous post, but made all my goals and even paid bonus every quarter. Why would you layoff someone making money for the bank. Oh, had no other issues either, great review. I think they just had to make cuts and I wasn't well liked by a senior manager in my dept. I am also a minority, not sure if that made a difference. Basically they are cleaning house right now.

Word is that 5/3rd is laying off over 10,000 employees. However, they are doing it in incremental steps to keep it under the media radar and off TV & Radio..... HA!

What a great place to spend your career.
