To clarify... the description for food service jobs on the Fluor site state that potential hires have to be willing to be interviewed in the Balkans.

they probably hiring folks from the balkans because it is easier to get there over there to work and plus they do not complain as much about the living conditions.

It's real simple, they don't have to pay them as much as expats. They pay them $68,000 (which is a hell of alot of money to them) for the same job they pay Americans $138,000, you do the math. By the way, they never intended to fly anybody to the Balkins.

Let me sum this up for you, if the job description states that interviewing will take place in the Balkins, that means you need not apply.

Im going over to work in the IT dept, so they hire all. I have a degree also and alot of experience in my field. So you just have to hang in there.

Has anyone had a job submission status of "Under Consideration" and still no call? I've had this status for more than a week now and I'm beginning to think it may almost be the same as "Under Review" where a recruiter just scratched and sniffed my resume.

Did you get a recruiters number or contact info? That is key from what I hear. If you're under consideration/review find a way to get to someone to further your desires. Try some of the smaller companies, too. What job field are you in?

No I did not get any contact info! I was called back and dealt with in a very, very short manner! Not treated rude but directed to the website! I did not get an open time for being able to ask for contact info or who I could call back! I have other strategies but I don't want to black list myself!:-)))) I could get to a recruiter, but get this, my resume would be thrown out! I have learned and been trained how to locate and get to people within an organization. I was a regional sales manager for 6 years, I know how to get passed the gate keepers! Etc..... I contacted and tracked down federal and state employees that could not be reached! U don't make Friends like that! Lololol

It is best to wait!

Who are the smaller companies? U have to remember I am cross referencing skills! I have not worked in the construction trade per say full time. But i was on the fringes of the construction trade. I dealt with many contractors, designers, engineers and architects. The drainage and sewage industry.

I applied for literally 2 years before being hired by kbr and then transitioned to ITT. It really sucked not being called back for that long, but if your persistant and have a good resume they will eventually call you back.

Yeah I hear ya before I left I moved 3 times in 1 year. It ended with me ultimately living on my parents couch again after many years on my own. Almost a full year on unemployment applying to 20+ jobs a day without a call back. I was not in a good spot at that point.

That is where I am bro, applying and no call backs! Almost disgusted with looking!I have 4 kids two houses 3 vehicles and my Harley! My Harley is going last!:-))) the wife and kids first! Lol naw actually thata my go first! I hate to say it!

KBR and FLUOR have their faults in alot of areas, but at the very least, they will pay you on time, when you are supposed to be paid. If you sign with DI, it's at best a crap shoot. You may get paid and you may not.

I have had jobs "under consideration" since November. I guess it doesn't matter for me though because I should transition to them pretty soon anyway.

Hey man. I'm not telling you how to do it or that you don't have the skills to get contact info. I am just trying to help. Getting through the steel curtain is how I got contact info and subsequently got hired. The place can feel like a steel curtain, I agree. But when they receive 20k applicants a month one needs to find a way to be seen---2% are hired. I'm just sharing with you my experience and what I did. Hey Donald,I agree w/Kath.My dad got help from Bruce,and after trying on his own to no avail,Bruce hooked him up and in less than 2 weeks he got hired for Qatar at 85k.

That's right.I don't know how close the nearest passport office is to you,but I went to mine and had a couple of opptions,normal waiting,or 7-10 days,or immediate.All w/diff $$$ according to which one ya choose.They do the visas at the customs desk at the airport you fly into.

When you get your first initial call, it will be from an Unknown Name and unknown number. Koko is right though, 864 is the area code.

Fluors area code is from Texas--281 area code. I don't think you need a visa to work for fluor---however a passport is paramount.

My husband is O&M also,Fluor, Dyncorp and Sallyport are just companies that are supposed to be bidding along with KBR.

I had heard that they were going to extended the contract in Iraq, the ground commanders did not want the same chaos as it is in Afghanistan. If you want a new boss, Fluor is hiring in Afghanistan.

Hello everyone ~ My husband has been hired by Fluor as a plumber in Afghanistan. He will be flying to Greenville on either May 22 or June 5th. It goes without saying that the living conditions are not great...We are, afterall, at war. Can anyone give any insight into just how dangerous it is over there? I can handle being apart from him for months at a time if I know that he will be coming home to me in the end. My exKBR friend who changed lanyards to FLUOR just left A$$crackistan saying quote "all the things that were wrong with KBR are twice as bad with this outfit"...his upper management turned out to be a bunch of rejects that were fired or forced out of KBR before getting fired...the reason he left Iraq was to get away from them....we are so glad they're gone and after 5 years here in Iraq, most of the flunkies or buds of flunkies have left and things are pretty good...glad our contract was extended and that's what I have heard too.

I've worked for Fluor for 6 years.I am also under consideration.Everyone must be patience with all the people applying for jobs,it can get very hectic.Fluor is a great company to work for.
