To clarify... the description for food service jobs on the Fluor site state that potential hires have to be willing to be interviewed in the Balkans. |

I posted this in another thread but I was wondering who else is applying for administrative jobs? I have applied for all of the administrative assistant jobs I have come across, and I have not run across anyone in the forums who has been hired in that capacity or is looking for that type of position. The administrative tech jobs at fluor require more skills then the KBR administrative assistant jobs for example. Do they primarily source from inside of the company for these positions? Btw I believe I am qualified because I have an associates degree and I am graduating with a bachelors this May. they probably hiring folks from the balkans because it is easier to get there over there to work and plus they do not complain as much about the living conditions. |

I applied to Fluor many times with no luck, and I don't know any guys in our dept over there with them, but like Jason Looney said earlier the kinks will get worked out, and our working, I have been talking to the manager there and he hasn't had any problems, I will be doing JOCA work so I'll be living out of a bag anyways, and sleeping on cots, no biggy I did it before. i know i was traveling at the time and just got back from R&R at least the manager is still a straight shooter, i spoke with him before awhile back but there HR was full of dung so i told them i was staying where i was. Good luck dude. At the BTC |

They pay them $68,000 (which is a hell of alot of money to them) for the same job they pay Americans $138,000, you do the math. By the way, they never intended to fly anybody to the Balkins. |

Daneris, Let me sum this up for you, if the job description states that interviewing will take place in the Balkins, that means you need not apply. |

Has anyone had a job submission status of "Under Consideration" and still no call? I've had this status for more than a week now and I'm beginning to think it may almost be the same as "Under Review" where a recruiter just scratched and sniffed my resume. |
|
Donald Bassetti in Albany, Oregon 26 months ago |
Hey just an FYI to those who are new at applying as myself. Someone said this before a few days ago. Be sure to read the job description and be aware that if it says "INTERVIEWING IN THE BALKANS" do not apply. This is usually listed near the bottom of the description. I spoke with a lady at Fluor today in the HR deaprtment. She said those are TIER IV jobs and they are for the Nationals/Employees overseas. She stated to me not to WITHDRAW my resume and just it go through the process. My take is if I aint getting an interview why keep it there! later! |

Donald Bassetti in Albany, Oregon said: Hey just an FYI to those who are new at applying as myself. Someone said this before a few days ago. Did you get a recruiters number or contact info? That is key from what I hear. If you're under consideration/review find a way to get to someone to further your desires. Try some of the smaller companies, too. What job field are you in? |
|
Donald Bassetti in Albany, Oregon 26 months ago |
Bro that place is an iron curtain! No I did not get any contact info! I was called back and dealt with in a very, very short manner! Not treated rude but directed to the website! I did not get an open time for being able to ask for contact info or who I could call back! I have other strategies but I don't want to black list myself!:-)))) I could get to a recruiter, but get this, my resume would be thrown out! I have learned and been trained how to locate and get to people within an organization. I was a regional sales manager for 6 years, I know how to get passed the gate keepers! Etc..... I contacted and tracked down federal and state employees that could not be reached! U don't make Friends like that! Lololol It is best to wait! I am going to get another job while I keep applying here! If I don't I may be waiting years! My question was about the QA/QC coordinator, specialists, manager positions, all interview in the Balkans! I can't fly there and interview either! I was going to pay own way! I have enough frequent flyer miles I could fly there and back twice! Alright then, I will keep u updated if I here anything else! |
|
Donald Bassetti in Albany, Oregon 26 months ago |
Who are the smaller companies? U have to remember I am cross referencing skills! I have not worked in the construction trade per say full time. But i was on the fringes of the construction trade. I dealt with many contractors, designers, engineers and architects. The drainage and sewage industry. |

Donald Bassetti in Albany, Oregon said: Bro that place is an iron curtain! I applied for literally 2 years before being hired by kbr and then transitioned to ITT. It really sucked not being called back for that long, but if your persistant and have a good resume they will eventually call you back. |

That's the problem bro, I don't have two years! My home
Anyway, thanks man and glad you made it! It's light at the end

Yeah I hear ya before I left I moved 3 times in 1 year. It ended with me ultimately living on my parents couch again after many years on my own. Almost a full year on unemployment applying to 20+ jobs a day without a call back. I was not in a good spot at that point. |
|
Donald Bassetti in Albany, Oregon 26 months ago |

Gone Fishing in Forsyth, Georgia said: The main thing I wanted to let people know is that these conditions are normal over here. It doesn't matter which contractor you get hired with, you can expect to see these conditions. If you don't consider yourself lucky and try to stay on that site. My point is this: If you are willing to live and work and put up with all the bs 24/7 to make the "big bucks", then i expect you to pay me! If you are willing to put up with working in a war zone, swatting camel spiders and other creepy crawly things, then pay me! KBR and FLUOR have their faults in alot of areas, but at the very least, they will pay you on time, when you are supposed to be paid. If you sign with DI, it's at best a crap shoot. You may get paid and you may not. Peace |

Chris, I have had jobs "under consideration" since November. I guess it doesn't matter for me though because I should transition to them pretty soon anyway. |

Getting through the steel curtain is how I got contact info and subsequently got hired. The place can feel like a steel curtain, I agree. But when they receive 20k applicants a month one needs to find a way to be seen---2% are hired. I'm just sharing with you my experience and what I did. Best of luck and if I can be of any help, here I am. |

Fluors area code is from Texas--281 area code. I don't think you need a visa to work for fluor---however a passport is paramount. |

Thanks in advance for the responses! |

Hello everyone ~ My husband has been hired by Fluor as a plumber in Afghanistan. He will be flying to Greenville on either May 22 or June 5th. It goes without saying that the living conditions are not great...We are, afterall, at war. Can anyone give any insight into just how dangerous it is over there? I can handle being apart from him for months at a time if I know that he will be coming home to me in the end. Also, I was hoping someone could share some information regarding ways to stay in touch (phone calls, email, etc). Thank you! |
