What do you think -- is this company going to survive and thrive? Are they looking to expand their staff, or do you think layoffs are inevitable?

How does FPL stack up against the competition?

FPL seems to be lacking in management talent, particularly in the HR department.

They have hundreds of jobs listings posted that never seem to be filled. They will even invite you for an interview and then never call you or respond to calls/emails regarding the status of your interview.

That a company with a BIG HR dept. to not have the basics of courtesy and communication is hard to believe.

My first interview was more than 2 months ago and the second was about 6-7 weeks ago. I know big companies move slow but it's really not an excuse. There's rarely any debate, either a hiring manager likes a candidate and see's a good fit, or doesn't. That decision is made almost instantly.

But to then not respond to multiple phone and email messages, and for HR not to respond at all shows a serious internal flaw at FPL.

What was your experience?

What position have you interviewed for? It also depends on different department managers.

There's really no excuse for them actively seeking out a candidate, interviewing multiple times, and then simply leaving that candidate hanging out there, purposefully not responding.

It indicates a lack of quality not only in HR but in the managers themselves. Don't give me your business card and tell me to contact you at any time if you don't have the courtesy to respond.

FPL HR dept is like a revolving door - they can't keep anyone there, they can't hire anyone, and the people they do hire aren't qualified...it's a joke...best if you have a relative/friend to get you into the clique

Realize that this place is a utility, at the end of the day. They are slow, lumbering, slothy, and human resources is not an asset to them. They care more about the bureacracy, regulations, and checking boxes. This is why nimble competitors run circles around these utilities with a 1960s mentality. FPL is the only horse in the race in FL area, so they can get away with this attitude, but it is remarkable that they have all these HR types working here and no one has the decency to get back to their applicants. What a sorry company. If they treat you like this before you start working there, imagine how you will be treated once you start working. Should be red flags.

If you pay close enough attention to their job openings. They repeat the same openings after certain periods of time (months) I applied to a position and got turned down (after not hearing from anyone for over 2 months) only to see the same job opening appear again after 4 months.

It is my belief that they post bogus job listings to keep stocks artificially high (currently over $50 a share). That or whoever winds up getting the job winds up leaving after a short period of time, either way. Don't hold your breath when applying to FPL.

Would not be surprised if all their current job listings were FAKE.

I had phone interviews with a recruit and managers and 1:1 and group interview at the headquarters almost 2 weeks ago....I never heard back from them even though they said that the decision will be made within 2 weeks! That is disrespectful and irresponsible. It can ruin the image of the company! I applied for a senior position there and the interview went very well, so I thought that I have a great chance to get the job, but next week will be the second week of waiting, and I have the feeling that they hired someone else...At lest they should notify me!!!!
