I am a management consultant. I interviewed with Gallup for a senior level position. This firm is trying to position itself as a highly respected management consulting firm with human capital and customer practice groups. It would appear that before this is the case, they require a consultant to give them some feedback.
1) The HR function - They absolutely screen every single call. I made six separate calls. The telephone was never answered up by a live person. The outgoing voice mail message lacks professionalism and claims that they all reps are with clients. When it comes to consulting, communication is key. Gallup sets the wrong first impression when they do not answer the phone and when they screen every phone call. They do not build trust when they claim they are busy with other clients, keeping them from answering a phone.
2) Cancelled appointment w/excuse. I had a Friday appointment and 1 hour before the scheduled time, I receive a phone call letting me know that the interviewer is not going to keep the appointment because they called in "sick." So apparently there is no team work at the firm. And the lack of respect and professionalism for potential employees is obvious.
3) Rescheduled appointment. The phone appointment is taped. The interviewer says that a team will analyze the interview and call back one way or the other within 7 days. They repeat the same questions that you already answered in a written test. No wonder this firm needs to hire new talent. Their existing employees are sub-par. I declined to move forward with the firm because I ask, how can Gallop consult to clients on human capital and performance when they demonstrate an obvious lack of understanding what it takes to hire the best and brightest.
If this company is serious about hiring top level talent I would recommend the following:
- upgrade your communications - pick up the phone
- demonstrate professionalism - be open, honest and keep your appointments
- team
