Every business has it's own style. What is the office environment and culture like at GameStop?

Are people dressed in business casual, jeans and t-shirts, or full-on suits? Do folks get together for Friday happy hours and friendly get-togethers?

What is a typical day in the life of an employee at GameStop?

The Dress: Business Casual. Dress slacks/Khaki's and a polo (Stores get a lot of cool polos promoting future releases)

At least in the stores I've worked in most people there have similar interests so its easy to become friends. Unlike some of the other retail companies I've worked for Gamestop does not frown on friendship with your co-workers as long as it doesn't affect your performance or judgement.

In the end, Gamestop is a store and is in it to make money. You are expected to perform as a salesman. Helping customers find what they need, offering other products and services that fit what they are looking for.

Gamestop in my opinion is a great place to be employed. Most people that have had bad experience as an entry level employee at gamestop either got in the job thinking it would be cake, or they simply were looking for more of a job then gamestop could offer them. When I started at gamestop as a GA(game advisor) i was promised no more then 10 hours a week usually less and minimum wage which i was givin. i was also promised if my sales looked good and i met all my goals it would reflect on my performance reviews and would have a chance at advancment and also pay rase regaurdless of advancement. everyday i went to work with the idea in my head i was going to WORK, not the arcade. I have been with the company 1 year and 4 months and i m now the ASM(asst. store manager) and have gained NUMEROUS pay raises. The job is a JOB keep that in mind but hen u are there your number one goal is customer service it is all in good fun to have a good time with ur associates. KEEP THE CUSTOMER IN MIND. and yes we do in fact all get together on days off and play games have a few beers and an all around good time. dress code has relaxed a bit lately if u meet ur sales goals u will not only get to wear jeans and a rolo but u get soft soled shoes if u dont meet ur sales goals u will however wear khakis and a polo tucked in with some sort of dress shoe. Although as an entry level assosciate ur work hours will be based on your meeting of sales goals which fluxuate market to market but are very obtainable if u are meant to be a salesman or work in any form of customer service.
