With the exception of start-ups, most of their hiring is done through temp services. That's how I got hired. Temps that have started after me have been waiting longer and longer to get hired permanent, though. But, if you do a good job and are committed, they eventually will hire you. A lot of people decide they can't wait and find other jobs. Higher level or specialized positions do get posted from time to time. Those would be direct hires. If you are a temp, there is no interview. The work you do as a temp serves as your interview. If they decide to keep you, you'll be handed an application, but that's mostly for their records.
