The pay of $7.00 per hour for someone with two years of experience is ridiculous!!! Businesses that prey on individuals that are desperate for a job and are willing to work for such a low wage do not deserve to be in business!!! |

You will enjoy this. We have just moved back to South Georgia (Thomasville), after being away from "home" for the past 18 years. We want to stay in this area to be near family and friends, but I have never seen a lower paying area. My husband is highly skilled and down here, the pay in his field is about $8.00 an hour for the same positions he had in Ohio for $24.00 + an hour. The kicker is that the costs of homes and groceries are higher here than in Ohio or Maryland. There is a bit of a plantation mentality, if you don't own your own business or are not a lawyer, doctor, or something of that sort, you are not well paid. welcome to the south, steam ahead into the future. you are correct with everything you said, its quite simple, the haves exploit the have nots and its not about what you know but who you do, the south tries its damndest to appear modern, you are dealing with the same mentality that cavemen got bored of about five million years ago, welcome back to hell!!!!! |

Not all Southern cities pay these ridiculously low wages. Central Georgia businesses should hang their heads in shame for the pitiful rate of pay it offers. I am from the MS Gulf Coast and even though I worked at a very large company here for four years, they never could match the money I was making in tiny Pascagoula, MS. I think out of work people should refuse to work as cheap labor to the rich. |
