Do you work at Harpo Studios? How did you find the job? How did you get that first interview?

Any advice for someone trying to get in?

I have grown up watching the Oprah Show. My mom has always said it is my best education! I will be graduating in May with a degree in Communications from Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL. I was wondering about any internships and/or employment that Harpo Studios, along with the Oprah Show and Angel Network offers?
I am looking forward to hearing back from you.
Thank you,
Wendy Woudenberg

If you want to work for Harpo (the TV side), here's a bit of advice:

- Have TV experience. 3+ internships get you into the door. They do NOT pay attention people without TV experience. Believe me.
- Expect them to ignore you if you don't have TV experience. The more you have, the better.
- Get research experience.
- Don't be obsessed with Harpo. Know a lot about yourself and what makes you valuable to an A-list TV company that's very driven, competitive, and filled with people who are the best at what they do. That's Ms. Winfrey's secret.
- Pray.

I have a lot of experience in the entertainment industry. AI also did a internship many, many years ago for ASCAP (American Society Of Composers, Authors, & Publishers). Also went to college for Graphic Design and Fine Art at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Mi and went to Columbia College for Graphic Design and Music in Chicago, Il.
I was the Public Relations Director for a talent agency on Michigan Ave, in Chicago.
I am very dependable, reliable, honest, good verbal and written skills. I work great with people.
Also ran my own Interior Design company for over 15 years.
I have always wanted to work for Harpo Studios and feel with my experiences I have had in the entertainment industry that I would do exceptionally well. Please contact me as son as their is an opening of any kind. I look very forward to hearing from you and working with you and the staff as soon as possible.

Yours very truly,

I have worked in the entertainment industry for over 20 years off and on freelancing doing film, video, tradeshow, and modeling, Alos did print work for Whirlpool Corporation, as well as working on films and some commercial work. I have also worked as a tele prompter behind the scenes as well as a Make-Up Artist skincare specialist for film and many stores on Michigan Ave.
I was the Public Relations Director for a talent agency in Chicago for a few years and I have years of experience painting backdrops for movie sets as well as doing still photography work. I had also done an internship at ASCAP years ago and have had the opportunity to work in the music industry with a few record labels.
I also have a background in voice-over and singing as well.
I love working in the entertainment industry and working in film/television. Its my passion and hearts desire. I would be very honored to work at Harpo Studios. I hope a job opportunity comes available. I look very forward to working with you and the staff at Harpo Studios very soon.

Yours very truly,

Hi, Lenette!

I appreciate the fact that you desire to work at Harpo. However, they will only appreciate it if you can really do something for them. If you want to work there, concentrate on getting STRONG TV EXPERIENCE if you want to work on the show. Not sure what you did as publicity director, but that may be something the publicity department may be interested in. Check out harpocareers.com for openings. They do look at the resumes sent. Make sure your resume is excellent, without mistakes, and loaded with strong verbs and details.

Remember, they hire the BEST OF THE BEST. You've got to make them want to say "yes" to you instead of the recent college graduate who has 2 years producing local news, plus 4 internships with local news and national networks.

BE CLEAR ON WHAT YOU WANT TO DO FOR THEM. They're not going to figure that out for you. Hope this is helpful.
