Every business has its own style. What is the office environment and culture like at Hew Federal Credit Union?

Are people dressed in business casual, jeans and t-shirts, or full-on suits? Do folks get together for Friday happy hours and friendly get-togethers?

The dress code is suits for meetings and jackets required even for tellers. Some staff dress very poorly though and the code is not enforced regularly except a few times a year when management decides to step-it-up a little and do some work. Jeans day is very rare here. Most staff do not talk to one another outside of the work walls and its not encouraged by senior staff. The culture is to hide-away and say as little as possible about your thoughts and suggestions so you do not bring attention to yourself. Senior management will say they want this and then use it against you over time, setting you up. Most things are in chaos here; loans, sales, staffing, marketing, leadership, website. Its a small credit union run by a select few at the top, no one else has a say that matters and can change nothing.

There is a very unhappy culture here generated based upon the senior staffs poor guidance, nasty personalities, and wearing it all on their sleeves that they are in control and have made this CU great and powerful. They each need a bath because we can smell them and their old ideas coming a mile away.

This place is like working in a tar pit. First they lure you in with a smile and are nice as can be. Remember, all along this is the COO and CEO way to hang onto power. They slowly beat you down until you feel like you cannot have a real opinion about anything without your job and livelihood being threatened, and marl my word, it will be threatened, all employees know this here and then they either leave, get terminated or say nothing ever again except talk bad about new employees who want to make changes. All the while the COO and CEO support this by doing the same thing they have done for years.

Culture? There is none other than bickering and backstabbing from all levels of staff created by poor support and operations blunders that have taken place for years.
