Without a union I think ass kissing is normal procedure just about anywhere you work. Personally I think most companies should be union, not necessarily for higher wages but so workers will have a little dignity on the job and not worry about being fired if you don't kiss ass.

I worked for Home Depot for 14 years and was set up by management falsly accused and fired without explanation. I was making $23 hour and im over 50...and I agree there is much foul play going on at Home Depot every day. i too believe that the company is targeting individuals making money...and yes i know the policies because i was management...Home depots policies were made so vauge so that they can get rid of any one they want...I as a manager was asked to participate in the policy steam roller many times and refused...meaning set up associates according to policy to get rid of then because they were not liked or made too much money. I believe my refusals over the years to not participate made others uncomfortable that along with my age and income was seen as expendable...they fired you for bull..every manager in the company has done or dose on a daiuly basis exactly what you did...Home depot policies are made to suite Home depot when they choose or who they choose. If you are on facebook join Johnny Fired on Home Depot Targets...I believe you all and want your stories told...and I believe that if we get this out Legal people wanna hear it too.

Facebook HOME DEPOT TARGETS join today I BELIEVE YOU I want to hear your stories and I intend when my sight is big enough the Legal world will want to hear all our stories around the country. I was a Depot manager for 14 yrs I know the policy's and I know the way they are used.I respect those whose oppinions support Home Depot, but I also believe you are in the dark room because you have not yet been a target. So please respect those who have been targeted and maybe they will respect your opinions, but unless you are out of a job, cant feed your family, may be loosing your home, cant pay your bills, and dont understand what really goes on in the Big orange box.Keep your support and opinions to yourself. What these people say are true I was a manager for 14yrs and seen it happen was asked to take part..OPEN YOUR EYES its every where.

Too often Home Depot fires people using so called policies....but in most cases those policies only apply to people they want gone and are applied for some other reason they cant fire you for legally....the problem is all of us...we get on here and complain about Home Depot but what do we really do about it..NOTHING...I am guilty also but have decided to try to make a difference..get the word out there..get Legal folks interested...I ask you this...with all the stories we read and so many people being done wrong..WHY isnt there a class action suite...this suite would bring interest and big time press...and lawyers by the truck load...ill tell you why..because we give up and think there isnt anything we can do...and tolerate it..shame on us....join me on facebook Johnny Fired page Home Depot Targets..speak out be heard if we make this page huge people will take notice....spread the word..you been wronged by Home Depot and your not taking it....

leaving the property or breaking a small rule is not a good reason to be fired.
Working retail sucks no matter where it is.
Managers are A-holes, that's just the way it is.
I retired from General Motors and worked at Lowe's for about 2 months, I quit when they were not willing to work with me concerning my work schedule. It's their way or no way.

The problem is people need their jobs and employers control a big part of your life like it or not. Even if you quit a job the employer has the ability to give you a bad report to a prospective employer. The private employers are way worse than the government when it comes to having control over people. Directly or indirectly.

People will never organize a labor union in retail but that's what needs to happen.
People are stupid and if they don't have the balls to stand up to their employer or attempt to organize they deserve what they get. Without a union get used to doing a lot of ass kissing.
