What hours are your specialists working. Are they on a set schedule? |

In my store the hours vary. Our Store manager likes to have the trade specialists on the floor during the "power hour", that is when there are more customers expected. So the 10-7 shift is most common for us. Other stores have their specs. on from 6-3 to help the contractors. Hope that answers your question. |

When the program rolled out it was "preferred" that the MTS work consistent/set schedule that would meet the business needs of both the contractor business and the DIY business. There was no "stated shift" only a preferred of M-F, T-S which ever meet the customer needs/business request of your particular store. However it was emphasized that the MTS work the same schedule each week (unless there is a vacation, etc that would impact the Dept. schedule or a Clinic that was necessary to teach) |

Are they cutting your hours at this time? As a former employee and a Master Plumber I have tried to get the trade specialist job in my area but was told there is a freeze at this time. |

They're not cutting hours yet but you're right they aren't hiring specs anymore, probably due to the salaries, I guess they're trying to cut costs at least till things pick up. |

What kind of generated pro sales from contractors are you getting per week? Does anyone have time alloted to generating sales other than from the floor? How are you coordinating the cold calling, the packdown, freight, work required for department organization? Does anyone have set goals for the contractor sales? |

I was a Master Trade Specialist (Plumbing) from Aug. 2007 (when they first rolled out the program) to April, 2009 (when my store manager was trying to push us out). Around April, myself and the Electrician Spec. felt like we weren't wanted. But after I left, many of my old co-workers found me on Facebook and begged me to come back. If given the opportunity I would go back. Wasn't a bad job, solid 8 hr day. 1 week vacation after a year and 40 hrs of personal/sick per year too. |
