Most recently I was on vacation when I received a call from my store. They asked if I wanted to do overnights at another store. I declined. Then asked if I wanted to work freight at night. I declined as well. The person then said "all right then will find someone else". I come into work the day after vacation got ready to clock in and my schedule had been changed to freight. They gave me no notification of the schedule change. So I drove back home wasting my gas and time and showed up at the later time that day.

I then told a manager about what had happened. And asked him what was the point of asking me to do freight if they were going to schedule me anyway? And how I was give no notice of the schedule change. His response "CAUSE WE CAN".

This makes me feel like home depot is in total control of my life and no matter what they say I cant trust them.

Would it do me any good to call HR?

Do yourself a favor and look for a more honest company to work for. I spent 14 1/2 years with Home Depot. I have seen them treat hundreds , if not thousands of people the same exact way. They preach doing the right thing and taking care of their people. If you think they care about anything but the almighty dollar your absolutely lying to yourself. During my early years with the company back in '96 it was a great place to work and you were well compensated for hard work. Even then though, it was a good ole boys club. If you were liked by management you could do as you pleased but get on a managers wrong side and you better look for a transfer before you found yourself out the door. These days under Lord Blake and his trusty side kick Marvin it's all about profit margin, regardless of what the employees want or who gets mistreated along the way. HR or what's left of them are a joke. They are moles looking to rid the company of anybody who speaks out against orange law. The once great company I used to love is a shell of it's former self and it's all because they quit treating their beloved front line soldiers (associates) like family long ago. They're philosophy has shifted into quantity over quality. Who cares if you walk into HD and are bombarded with greetings from 150 aprons if only 5 of them have the knowledge or desire to help you? It sickens me to see the level of incompetence within the stores these days. I may sound like a disgruntled former employee but remember I have a HUGE amount of stock in this company and the future of HD looks bleaker and bleaker by the year. You could once make a career working for the Depot but now it's not much better than working fast food or a video store.

I totally agree with you! Bernie Marcus and Arthur Blank would be turning in their graves if they knew how this company is now. Ive been with the the company for going on two years and management is becoming horrible. When i started there things were great but now its all about numbers, if we are not close to goal hours will be cut and they send us home. half the time me as well as other people are watching three or more dept. at one time. Then of course the next day the whole store gets yelled at for voc's etc because theres no one to help these customers. I work in paint and i usually dont get to move from my desk other then to grab paint because im so busy, so tell me how im one suppose to take care of my customers by myself and watch garden, flooring and electrical? I feel bad for the customers as well as for anyone who is or are going to be working with this company. it use to be great but now they just over work you, under appreciate you and cut your hours and treat you like crap.
