A little hostile, tenacious. Ease up. You also sound a little bitter. The lady is just expressing her opinion. |

I'm beginning to see that these threads are more of an outlet for people who seem to have a problem with their own attitude and are just looking for something to gripe about. If this same attitude carried over into thier work (and I'm sure it did...) it isn't any wonder to me that they've had such a hard time. I worked for HD in TX, and it was one of the best experiences I've ever had. The reason I'm reading these comments is because I'm considering going back. I will say, however that this area in general is HORRIBLE for customer service. The method of HD is "take care of the customer and the customer will take care of your business." If you are focused on the customer, you don't have time to pick and gripe about petty things that add up to big things because of your own piss-poor attitude. (I've seen it in ALL KINDS of venues here that require customer service in order to run.) |

I agree that being a kitchen designer is a great job at HD not to mentioned the highest payed positions under managers in the store. With that said watch your back in that position, I allowed someone to borrow my ipod and was fired for material he viewed on it during busing hours. Even though I was not viewing it, I got fired and he was simply rewarded for turning me in, what a joke! Live and learn HD employs allot of shady characters who hate to see someone above them and are constantly looking for opportunities to lift them selves hirer. Was I wrong for allowing him to use my ipod yes, was it anyone else's business as to the content on my personal ipod NO |

The next thing we know he is being arrested for having child porn on his computer. He is now serving over 10 years in a Federal prison Glad someone turned him in. Shame on him. |

I got a response within 2 weeks but I applied for a high demand position (Master Electrician specialist).I was surprised how much they pay for a non salary position. They offered me $26.50 / Hr. that's like 55k /yr not counting O/T |

I am a kitchen designer w/home depot as well and love most aspects of my job. i enjoy working in retail and w/ customers and all of my customers have liked me very well. I have a degree in Interior design from an accredited college and Home Depot seemed like a good place to start off a career..and was close to home. I love my job as I stated but recently we lost our sasm and he was replaced w/ a total hothead jerk who uses training audits as termination threats! In the 16 months I have worked there I have made a few mistakes- which I believe is normal- but I also have made the store and co. 1,000's of dollars in sales. Some of the audits I have received have not even been for things that were my fault. One was the result of a widely advertised "basic kitchen install for $999.00" I sold two of them. Well, when the second measure was done the install price of both sales interestingly went up in price $450.00- what was it for??? leveling the floor under cabinets..."shimming" and... alterations to cabinets! What??? This was explained as- cabinets are delivered from the manufacturer unsquare and they need to be sanded down from the top in order for the countertops to set level! !!!!What???- Yes- this is what I was told. In all of our cabinet lines it specifically says in the warranty info that cabinets that are altered in "any way" will no longer be covered. This is just one of the problems I have run into- there are many more. It really has nothing to do w/ the Home Depot Co. It - I feel has to do w/ our sasm and our expeditor and our installer. If you are interested in hearing some more or have a similar story, or advice contact me via e-mail. |

sorry to hear that Home Depot isn't good employer. I always wanted to work there. Even applied there but didn't pass interview. After reading this information I googled information about Home Depot and found a lot of complains. you can read them home-depot.pissedconsumer.com/. |

I want to say something to all of the Negative people bashing HD. For my part, I can only say they have been wonderful to work for. I was with them for less then two months, when I had to have a "surprise" surgery. At the time I was hired on only as a temp. They owed me nothing....And yet, WHILE I was in the hospital, they changed my status to part time.

Sorry guys, but I have to agree with d1141, I've had many a crappy job and HD is far from one of em. The good definitely out-weighed the bad. Plus the fact that I make a decent salary doesn't hurt either. |
