Does this company NOT think that all the people who apply for jobs are not customers? Why then would they continue to put out employment listings, spend money for TV ads only to ruin it by poor communication with potential employees and customers. People "do" remember when shopping how they were treated on all accounts. The way they treat prospective employees does say alot about the mechanics of this company.

If you are determined to work at HD start with on line, place the stores you would be interested to work at. If your qualified, and fill out all info-Full Fime/Full Flex available weekends etc..very important..you can call the stores you selected 24hrs after..Your info will appear on their data base as well as the other stores...You can call the main # and ask for X399 normally that the HR's ext. Give them your name and SS#, they'll tell you right then if your qualified and ask you in for a interview. The stores ramp up for spring so they hire in February and in September for the Holiday seasons. Right now its extremely slow, due to the housing crunch but if you have a strong selling skillset, the speciality departments are always looking Appliance,Flooring,Kitchen and Bath-Also Hardware Department for the Christmas rush.

This is almost good advice. NEVER give your SS number to anyone on the phone. The Home Depot HR can look up your last name to pull your application if it is in the system. The SS is not required. I'm an HRM and am appalled how many HD store employees out there think that asking for a SS number is acceptable.
