Curious & Cautious in Saint Louis, Missouri

I am interested in any available feedback about working for Home Depot "At Home Services". I applied to a Monster.com H.D. Sales Associate post. I received a response and was told that it was a commission only position after 6 weeks of paid training @ $300.00 per week. The position requires walking around one of the H.D. stores to generate my own leads for roofing, windows, doors & siding. The position pays 4% commission up front and the balance after completion if no problems arise. They do not offer any reimbursement for mileage and because I am technically considered as a part time associate, I would have to purchase my benefits but would be able to have access to their company rates. My reservations are as follows: I was lured into a very similar type position at Sears Home Improvement that was a nightmare, realizing after training that the prices were double and triple the average market prices, I was required to make a "One Call Close", and I saw very few jobs go in without problems leaving very unhappy and constantly rotating sales people. I also am wondering in this economic climate if it is possible to generate enough leads out of one Home Depot store to actually survive. I came very close to losing my Unemployment Benefits when I quit the Sears job, and as bad as I want to go back to work, is a job that pays nothing worth taking the chance on? Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks.
