I have lots of experience in this job, applied twice at 2 different locations, and fell that if you are over 35 it is a WOT .

This is a great company to work for, but the culture is somewhat stuffy. I interviewed for a position and received an offer and salary above $80,000. I turned it down for another company in a totally different city.

Definitely NOT a WOT.

I have to agree with you on this I applied to this company and interviewed with them. I followed with the recruiter and she said that the interview went well... but I never heard back from her... I guess like y'all indicated I'm under 35 and they proberly was not looking to pay what I wanted because they indicated that the position was hourly... WAWOT-- what a waste of time.

I have to agree. If you're OVER 35 this company is a WOT. I have over 25 years experience in commercial lending and can't even get an interview!

I agree, a total WOT. I've applied several times and have everything on the list and then some. They aren't looking for someone like me. Frankly they seem to advertise a lot on the "specialty" job boards based on race, etc. Maybe I'm not their type in many different ways.

PERHAPS IF YOU LEARNED TO SPELL YOU MIGHT HAVE MADE A BETTER IMPRESSION (see "probably" above). ALSO, IF YOUR CONVERSATION WAS FULL OF "Y'ALLS", IT DOESN'T INDICATE A HIGH LEVEL OF PROFESSIONALISM.

Maybe it's time to ensure that the appropriate government agencies are aware. Especially if you believe that HSBC is discriminating based on age, race or sex. Contact the EEOC and they can begin monitoring the number of complaints.

Tough place to work. Politics are awful. Big mistake. Very long hours due to the general cluelessness of senior management.

I totally agree that HSBC is looking for the"minority candidate" among other perfect scenarios: age and experience. It still a fact that minorities get paid lower scales than the majority. Now before you all get your panties in a twist, I'm talking national averages. Of course there are some Hispanic maids that get paid much better than their Eastern European counterparts... - JM

Damn nasty company is HSBC. Redeployment policy a joke, Security of Employment Agreement worthless. Why do they not see that the happier staff are the better they work, this is a very basic fact but HSBC cannot see this and go out of their way to be spiteful and nasty. After 10+ years words fail

If you work in the call center you will be unhappy. For a job that starts out 12.50/ph plus commission they have a training class every week to replace the ones who quit or got fired for violation of there stupid policies. All of the customers you talk to will be angry.

I have to agree, they are crap. They write all these policies and break every one of them! When will they practice what they preach. The managers have no people skills and treat the staff appaulingly but one rule for them and another for their employees. They have lost loads of experienced long term serving members of staff and are now regretting their actions. Their chairman is trying to make it a better place to work but its failing as the dirty stuff below still goes on and they are in denial. May be they should start by putting all their managers on a staff procedures course and get them to follow it then they would have less angry staff leaving and less grievances. Their H.R department needs sorting out too, they are just as useless as their managers and havent a clue how to follow their own procedures.

Dont work in a call centre but talk to customers who are angry about being passed around the call system because too many departments dealing with every aspect of an account. They dont practice what they preach. Their latest policy is helping to save the environment and encouraging customers to go green by having use of on line facilites instead of having paper statements sent out. You should see how much paper they waste in the building where we work, they are so hypocritical.

Too many managers and none of them have a clue especially on man management skills which the company fail to consider this an important factor of being a good manager. Politics are hypocritical and one rule for the management to the workers, they want good example but fail to lead by it.

I'm earning 4gees a month. Is their HR crap? Their interviews is super 'friendly' and super 'sweet' too.sleazy company.I can see they want good people but not willing to pay the money. Only if you have no other jobs in hand or the type that 'oh i just want this for the experience'..you can go ahead.but my child, believe me, odd working hours and low pay..other companies can offer better experiences too.

My comment: Can you direct me to some good companies on the east side of Baltimore, Maryland. I had interviewed some and the money is less than HSBC and do not have much to offer in the way of benefits. I am mature but still with many years to work I have had a sucessful career in an unrelated field. For the past couple of years I have worked in the mortgage field- one place folded, another closed the Baltimore office, others are full of empty promises. I would appreciate direction to a good company. thanks

Hi,

Can someone tell me the starting salary for an account executive? I'm not sure which division. Also, after taking the assessment test, how long, if ever, does it take for them to get back with you.

Thanks!

Not impressed. Very rigid and intense and structured not with any type of conversation, just questions off of a list. The person I met with all but ended the interview when I filled out a form indicating available hours. Not knowing what they were I put 9am-6pm. As much as I tried to explain my flexibility the Manager obviously already had an impression. Don't think that we would work well together. This is after the branch location was switched at the last minute. Also, when I tried to explain my past experience I was quickly told that was his job and I did not need to concern myself with that. Think I will keep looking, although I have a funny feeling I will not hear from this company again.
