Recruiter in Quantico, Virginia

I just applied for a job as a commercial sales recruiter for Humana in the Louisville office. I had a phone interview recently for a campus recruiter but did not get the position. What exactly does the commercial recruiter do? Does is have anything to do with sales? Any help or feedback would be great.

I would imagine it would be recruiting/helping to fill positions within a commercial sales environment. Networking with leaders within that department in order to find talent they need.

Question - I am not as experienced with downtown Louisville as some and I wanted to know which parking garage is closer to the corp Humana on 500 W Main St., the easiest to get to and which one normally has spots still available? The 6th Street parking garage, located on 6th street between Main and Market streets or the Riverfront parking garage, located on 6th street between Main and Market streets.

Thanks!!

I have applied at humana for PNO Customer Connection Specialist. I had phone interview and face to face interview with managers. My profile shows "screening" how long will that be in that status? Is that good news or bad news? Interview was 2 weeks ago.

Hi,
Would appreciate any feedback in regards to Drug testing. I am scheduled for my drug screen. My internist has me on 1 mg Valium q day as adjunct therapy for my blood pressure. When this comes back in the testing process, how is this handled administratively?

Thanks in advance,

MM.

I'm in KY and I received an e-mail via careerbuilder about a data entry position with Humana two weeks ago. The CSI Companies sent the e-mail, so this position was through a staffing agency. I sent my resume in and a recruiter from CSI left me a message to call her back. I called her back right away and she told me the position had been filled but that if something else came open she would call back.

Last week I get another call from my CSI recruiter telling me about another enrollment specialist (data entry) position. Data entry is the kind of work I am looking for and have years of experience doing and I was excited that she called back so quickly. I told her I was interested and she said it was a new position that just opened so she submitted my resume to Humana after asking me a few questions. She told me it could possibly be a job that would lead to full-time which is exactly what I want. Along with that, she asked me if I could work overtime which I was more than happy to do, asked me if the location in Downtown Louisville was okay and I said yes, and a few other simple questions.

A few hours after the CSI recruiter called that day, someone from Humana called me to touch base and asked me the same questions my recruiter did, then told me that I should check with my CSI recruiter in a few days if I don't hear back right away.

I checked back with my CSI recruiter a few days later and she told me that position had been filled too and again told me she would let me know if something else became available. This isn't the only staffing agency that's done this, either.

I really need a job right now and I don't know what to do. I thought I would share my experience here with the rest of you.

Waiting... in Louisville, Kentucky

I had my phone interview and face-to-face interview. My dashboard now says "offer." What does that mean and how long does it usually take for Humana to contact me? My first interview was about a month ago and last week they updated my dashboard to offer. Is Humana always this slow?

Thanks!

I applied for a position, and my status went from "Sourcing" to "Screening" after a few days. It's been a month and it's still at "Screening", and no one has contacted me. Is there any hope of them contacting me after a month, or does it usually take this long?

I'm a former recruiter for Humana.

Mable -thanks so much for your helpful replies in this forum! I do have a question I hope you can answer. I'm an RN, looking to relocate to Louisville in the next few months.

I've applied to several (10) relevant positions to my experience/degree. I have 2 positions that say "screening" next to my name - 2 say "not selected", and the rest say "sourcing".

The problem is that the 2 that say "screening" have said that for over 6 weeks! What are the chances that 1 - I will get an interview for those positions; 2 - how soon will I get an interview!

I currently live in FL & would need to travel to KY for the interview (no big deal, planning on doing that) but I need to arrange this & moving date creeps closer & closer! I'd love to work at Humana, but honestly, my hopes are crushing with every day as I need to find a job before I move!

Any advice, insight, suggestions? Thanks so much!!!

I can't speak specifically to Humana, but as an RN if you provide a valid prescription &/or a letter from your MD then it shouldn't be held against you. They are looking for illegal drugs. Just cover yourself with documentation.

I'm trying to get on there too. I applied for a job with Humana via a local staffing agency for a data entry specialist position. It's only a contract job, but right now that doesn't matter so much because I need the experience and it would be a good way to get my foot in the door with the company.

They got me an interview with Humana within several days of me talking to them and the interview went fairly well. Humana is still interviewing for the job I applied for though and have been for almost four weeks, which is how long I've been waiting so far.

The staffing agency has been updating me every week to let me know what's up but they have been pushing the date forward for when interviews will be finished and a final decision will be made. First it was supposed to be the end of last week and as of today, I was told they would be finished by mid-week so I should hear by then. That date could very well change again, so I'll see what happens this week.

C.L. - I am a native of Louisville and I'll tell you that it's very, very hard to get a job here unless you know someone. I don't really have any connections and it's been beyond hard to find work. If you do move here, be prepared to apply for lots of jobs that you might not get. It's a very tough job market here. I'm still persistent and haven't given up hope, though.

I do hope I get that Humana job. Even a contract job right now is a lot better than not working at all and after all the great things I've heard about this company on here, I think I would really enjoy working there.

Good luck to everyone who has applied.

Any number of things could be at play here. Being as it is summer, the hiring manager or recruiter could be on vacation. The position could be on hold. They could be collecting applications from all of the candidates and then assessing who they want to bring in for a face-to-face interview. It is a good sign that they sent you the benefits information and an application to fill out. As a general rule the company does not request the applicant to fill out an application until they are ready to meet with them face-to-face. I wish you well. If you do get a face-to-face interview be sure to check out my blog: www.kellystaffingexpert.com/content/help-i-have-prepare-my-job-interview

Hi Mable,

I know you have not worked for Humana for a while but do you know what there hiring process is? I applied for a personal health coach to work from home. I also was wondering if you know for the work from home positions do they offer travel reimbursement to the office if you work in a work from home position?

Thanks

So if our workbench said "screening" next to a position, is that still accurate? What is the new recruiting system? I've been hanging in limbo for 3+ months! How do I re-create a profile?

C.L. I just found out they re-did their recruiting system as well. You go to there career section and then click career opportunities and you will see that it takes you to the new recruiting system. The position says its still screening because they are not using that system anymore and it will not change from screening. I found this out today and I was wondering why my workbench has said screening for a month. You will need to find the job that you applied for in the new system and re-apply for it.

After spending 2 hours recreating my profile & trying to navigate this new recruiting system, I finally found the 5 positions that I am qualified for (including the ones I was previously "screening"). Anyone know how to check the status of this new system? If we go into our rolepage, will it show status updates there like the old system did?

Hello C.L.,
Unfortunatly the new Taleo system does not show the status as per the old Humana system. Also, what Gwen said is correct, we are still experiencing some bugs with the new system, hopefully these will be worked out shortly.

Hi Trackiegurl,
Generally if the position is classified as a work-at-home position, Humana will cover travel expenses whenever you're required to travel to the office. I hope this helps!

Hi Trackiegirl,
There is no hardfast rule on when you're going to hear back from a recruiter or hiring manager. Currently Humana recruiters are carrying heavy workloads, so it may take a while. Hang in there!

I have read a ton of "hater" message on here and just thought I would post something a little more positive. I am an RN and applied with Humana for a position as a Utilization Review Nurse. Two days later I was called and offered the position. My entire experience with the interview process, and telephone communication was nothing but positive! I cannot understand why so many people are "bashing" a company on here for something that was obviously done by a person, not the company. I have yet to start my training for my new position, but I am ecstatic and cannot wait to get busy working for Humana. Humana was willing to give me a chance to work for them, when I was overlooked by other companies, including hospitals, for similar positions as a nurse. I intend on giving 110% effort 100% of the time when it comes to my job with Humana! My belief is that you get out of something what you are willing to put into it. I wish everyone the best when it comes to finding a job that "fits".

How long does it usually take for humana to offer a job. I recently had my face to face interview yesterday. With the new taleo system it's hard to see exactly where you stand. After reading several posts does it usually take a couple of days, weeks, or the next month? I am so anxious about the position.

I recently applied for one of 300 positions that was advertised on the news at the Humana in Louisville and got a call today for a phone interview taking place tomorrow (Thursday, 9/22). The position I was called about was for a medicare billing specialist. I'm not sure exactly what to expect after the phone interview, but hopefully it'll be something good. I really need a job right now.

If anyone has any insight or advice they can give me, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Quick update - just had the phone interview a few minutes ago. I thought that it went fairly well and was told I'd get a call back about a face-to-face interview in a few weeks.

Then out of the blue I get this e-mail saying I wasn't qualified.

Thank you for taking the time to discuss the attached role with us. We enjoyed speaking with you and discussing your career interests and competencies. Unfortunately, you have not been chosen to move forward with the selection process and will no longer be considered for this position.

Your resume will be actively maintained in our database and can be updated at your convenience. Please continue to visit our career website and consider new opportunities as they become available.

If you have not done so already, we recommend that you take advantage of our e-mail job alert service so that you can receive the latest openings as they arise.

Again, thank you for your interest in Humana. We wish you well in your search for a new opportunity.

Sincerely,
Humana Talent Acquisition Team

So does this mean that while I was told verbally just moments ago that I would hear something about a face-to-face interview that now I am no longer considered?

I don't get this.

Hey Bill in Lima, Ohio-- How's your first month been? I am thinking about applying to a similar position in behavioral health ( I am a master's level social worker). I currently earn about 65,000 in my current position. Is this comparable to the salary range you were offered? How is the work load?
Thanks, JD

Hi Amy,
I am not sure what it takes to get on with Humana completely but I think I was called because I had 9 years of medical administration experience on my resume. I also read on an earlier post that sometimes if you are applying to the same company for several different positions it can look bad. They may have the impression you are not sure what you want to do. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Same here. I just now got a rejection e-mail from them for a job I applied for back in September:

Thank you for your on-line application and interest in the attached role. Unfortunately, you have not been selected to interview for this position and we have decided to move forward with other candidates.

Sincerely,
Humana Talent Acquisition Team

Does Humana use some kind of electronic application/resume screener? I know of some companies who do this sort of thing.

It used to be back in the day that you would at the very least get an interview for a job, now companies won't even do that anymore. They just base their hiring on your application and resume only.

And why would applying to different positions with the same company look bad? I did that too.

I think I'm going to give up on this place. Good luck to everyone else.

Just an update - it took 6 months of applying/waiting to FINALLY get a phone interview, then face to face interview, then an actual job offer. The offer is nice, though I wish the benefits were a little better. But I stat work on Monday! I'm an RN & will be working in clinical claims review. The face to face interview was 45 minutes long, a scripted set of situational questions, and I was interviewed by 2 supervisors.

I think what really turned the tide, was when I moved to Louisville.

Good luck everyone!
