IBM is trhe only company I know of that considers a new employee who knows what he/she is doing as a "professional hire". Everyone else was brought up in a post-college program drinking the kool aid.

If you like to fill in spreadsheets, you might have a chance at IBM. Most jobs are very rigidly defined and whatever you do, don't be the first person to try something.

The hiring situation too is somewhat murky. For each of the big outsourcing deals that IBM gets, all the client company's IT people become IBM employees. This means they're adding close to 20% of the workforce every year. First they tap that source for new job placements before they go outside.

So, if you want to work at IBM, good luck!
