What do you think -- is this company going to survive and thrive? Are they looking to expand their staff, or do you think layoffs are inevitable?

How does International Truck and Engine stack up against the competition?

International had a strong 2006 financially. New emission standards on their products in 2007 is placing concern on their customers reaction to anticipated price increases from International to recover the emissions fix. I still seem a fair amount of hiring so far in 2007.

To whom it may concern:
I worked at International truck and engines at the Melrose Park location, it is absolutely one of the best jobs I have ever had. Layoffs are part of this manufacturing business but while you are emplyed there, you will meet a lot of nice people and have an opportunity to make great income, the atmosphere alone is worth working there, very relaxed and professional. I am laid off right now, but I will go back in a New York minute.

Never been treated worse by a prospective employer. They are acting like the company is going out, yet still soliciting for imployees. Leaving a sinking ship????

"Sinking ship"
I honesty don’t think Int. Truck & Eng is going under at all. The truck market is tough and they are simply readjusting to change for future development. Int. Truck & Eng has always cutback and rehired, that is simply a part of the strategy.

The questions are generated to start discussion. What questions would you like to see about this company?

I can think of at least three:
1. Is the corporate culture more Wall Street or more Silicon Valley?
2. Have they had any lay-offs or outsourcing in the past year?
3. Are company policies (dress code, telecommuting, flextime, etc) applied evenly throughout the company or do they vary depending on the manager?

What about the big fight w/Ford? If Ford is really developing new diesel engines, won't that mean a huge chunk of lost business?

You are fortunate that you received a response. Most Companies do not take the time or effort to advise applicants that the position is filled. You wonder if this is their Corporate "sytle". Companies should at least have the common courtesy to acknowledge receipt of your resnume and advise you when the position has been filled.

What has become of Coprorate America? Its so impersonnal now that the internet has been introduced to the recruitment process.

You are just another e-mail that will go into the junk mail basket.
