It's always hard to know what to expect when going in for that interview -- and preparation can make all the difference. What is the interview process like at Intuit? Any advice on striking the right note? |

This is an exhaustive interview process -- seven 1-hour interviews before you even get to the VP level. There are a LOT of behavioral questions, i.e., "Relate a circumstance when a co-worker disagreed with your assessment and how you resolved the issue." These types of questions are fine but after 4-5 hours of interviewing you tend to run out of things to say. Primary hit on the company is that people seem not to stay very long even though it's one of the most relaxed dress codes I've ever seen -- shorts/sandals are common, believe it or not. Just be very prepared for the interviews because they are very, very intensive and require an inordinate amount of your time. |

I am an internal recruiter with Intuit and wanted to comment on the interview process. Your process might be different depending on what level of position you are applying for (more interviews the higher level of position etc.). Overall the process for professional hires would include one or two phone screens (depending on your location), an in person interview with a couple of team members - this is typically a behavioral interview as Baron mentioned in his post (specific questions on your past experiences), there may be a follow up interview as well before an offer is extended. We are always working to improve the candidate experience and I appreciate the comments and will make sure I pass them on to our leadership team. |

I went through an interview process recently. and i never heard back from them. So typically how long will it take to know the result of an final interview . If we don't get hired, will they atleast send us a mail to notify that or what is typical intuit interview process. |

Sometimes this is merely an oversight on the recruiter's behalf...please send me an email to gail_houston@intuit.com and I will check the status for you (if you have the position number you applied to or any additional information please send that as well). I apologize this happened, it is never our intention for you not to know where you stand in the process. You are always welcome to email or call the recruiter you are working with as well for an update. What I typically will recommend to applicants that are working directly with the manager and not with an Intuit recruiter is to ask at the end of the interview - when can I expect to hear back from you regarding your decision, or you could say - when do you expect to make a decision and is it okay for me to follow back up with you at that time if I have not heard back. |

Sorry folks but my opinion on Intuit recruiting and hiring practices
I interviewed twice in San Diego and even though I am well qualified the recruiters never got back to me after weeks past the interviews. I thought WTF? Sorry but Intuit needs to learn something called basic respect. I am not impressed by them. I got upset and emailed a recruiter a month later after never hearing back (second time in row!) and heard back from another recruiter at Intuit who apologized and told me I was not selected for the job. OK but there is no excuse. All other firms have always got back to me within at the most 1-2 weeks if I had the job or not. And they do not pay very well either. I wonder why they get so many resumes? BTW- someone told me that Intuit was not as great a place to work at as the HR people cheerleaders crack it up to me. Expect long hours low pay and Intuit management will ax you when the stock tanks.

sjenner - I am sorry your experience was negative and understand your frustration when you did not hear back. I know our intent is to treat each applicant with dignity and respect and to make sure that every candidate is given timely feedback, sometimes mistakes are made and for that I apologize I have sent a copy of your comments to our Candidate Experience team for review and hope to find a resolution to the situation. Please know that you can email me directly at gail_houston@intuit.com if there are any additional questions or concerns. |

Hi! I have a sort of unrelated question. I am trying to apply for a recent grad position, and the site tells me to use the job search tool and select an option as the category selection. But, this option does not appear as one of the categories! I wonder how I can apply for a recent graduate position. |

I am not sure why it is not working but please send your resume directly to me with the position number and I will get it to our campus recruiters - gail_houston@intuit.com maviles in San Diego, California said: Hi! Maviles - I found out the answer to your question from our campus recruiters "There are no entry level positions open/posted at this time which is why that is not an option for him to select. Please advise him to check back in a few weeks. We should have something up by then." Hope that helps...let me know if you need anything else. Gail Houston

Hi Gail, I would like to know your nearest office for Intuit Recruiting.
|
|
Gail Houston in Plano, Texas 14 months ago |
We do not have a recruiting office in NJ. The actual recruiting offices are in Plano, Tuscon and a couple of sites in California. A lot of the recruiters also work remotely. Is there something you need specifically from an Intuit office? Let me know how I can help by sending an email directly to gail_houston@intuit.com |

Hi Gail, I recently applied online with Intuit for a senior level position they have open at their Tucson location. I was contemplating hand-carrying a hardcopy of my resume to HR as well. I like to make personal contact with the people I may be working for. Do you think this would be advisable? Would it help my chances of securing an interview? Thank you for any feedback you may be able to provide. Larry Goodhue |

sjenner in San Diego, California said: Sorry folks but my opinion on Intuit recruiting and hiring practices Unfortunately, I think your previous interview experiences have been completely uncommon. I have applied for 200 jobs since graduate school, hearing back "yay" or "nay" from only about 10% of those jobs. Your experience seems negative, but I can attest that not all interviews at Intuit are like your own. I've had a great experience so far and have been treated with more respect than 90% of the other companies cared to show me. |

As many of you know on this forum, I am a recruiter with Intuit and try to respond whenever I see a question. I also teach workshops to the unemployed and would like to make a recommendation to any applicant interviewing for any opening. In my interviews, I always give my applicants a date to follow back up with me if they have not heard back by a certain date. If your recruiter doesn't give you a date to follow up when you interview, then the last question you should ask should be "when can I follow up with you if I have not heard back from you?" or you could ask "when can I expect to hear back on a decision or next steps in the process?" Once you get that date, put it on your calendar and then call (if you have to leave a message follow up with an email). A recruiter might have interviews scheduled the entire day and not be able to call you back until it is deemed too late - with email they can follow up with you anytime...so it is worth doing both. Also, keep in mind the recruiter/manager could have experienced a family emergency or a hard drive crash...unfortunately you can't plan for thosee events. At my last company - most of the recruiters were laid off with no warning and the remaining recruiters received no turnover. I can't imagine how many applicants were left hanging. We did the best we could but I am sure there were many disgruntled applicants. In a perfect world mistakes would not be made, emergencies would not happen and every applicant would have a great experience. By asking when you can follow back up you are given permission to call / email - if you still don't get feedback, call the main line and ask to speak to someone in the office. Take control where you can...most recruiters really want to do a good job and want you to have a good experience. As always, if you have questions you can email me directly gail_houston@intuit.com |

Hi Gail- It's been 20 days since I interviewed at Intuit. I was told a decision would be made by last Friday and have not heard back from anyone. Is it okay to call my recruiter or does that make me seem overeager? Thanks! |
|
Gail Houston in San Diego, California 13 months ago |
Absolutely it is okay to call your recruiter and I would encourage you to do so. If you need any additional help, please email me directly. Take care and best of luck with the position. Gail Houston

Having had an interview @ Intuit for a software position, I can say that they'll definitely cover your work experience (if any), and some software basics...I was asked to code a Fibonnaci sequence (very simple), write some simple SQL, find an obvious bug in some code and various other things.... I'd take a look at this site if you're looking for some really good questions: Surprisingly, the hiring manager asked me if I would call myself street smart or book smart...w/ the obvious answer being street smart of course haha (wouldn't u rather hire someone who can get stuff done, I know I would!) |

Hi Gail, I worked with you back in September regarding a position that was open at Intuit's Tucson location. I was looking at the site today and noticed that they have an opening for a Senior Software Quality Analyst. I believe I am a good fit for that position. Can I send you a copy of my resume for review? I have applied online, should I hand deliver a copy of my resume to human resources at the Tucson office as well? Thank you for your help with this. Have a great day. Respectfully, Larry Goodhue |

Hi Larry, I sent you a note via outlook - but for others reviewing our conversation - please make sure to always include a position number for me to check on - I can then look it up in our system and get your information to the right recruiter. We do have a lot of recruiters nationwide (I work from TX but support nationwide needs) so sometimes hand delivering the resume will actually take longer to get it to the right person since the receptionist would then need to mail it. Email is always the quickest way for me to help you. Have a great day. Gail Houston

Hello Gail, If I have left Intuit for another job, but now want to hire back on... is that difficult... Is it hard to get re-hired after leaving? Thanks..

Gail Houston in San Diego, California 8 months ago |
Most companies like to rehire back their former employees and Intuit is no exception to that. If you are interesting in reapplying, make sure to apply on line for each position you are interested in and feel free to send me a resume directly to gail_houston@intuit.com |

I had great interviews with Intuit, several with internal recruiters and several with the hiring manager that went really well over the course of four weeks. Then....silence. I haven't heard from them at all in over two weeks, even though I emailed and left phone messages almost begging for some sort of update! The recruiter is simply ignoring me (maybe hoping I will go away?!?!) This is just frustrating and leaves me wondering if Intuit treats their candidates this way, how will they treat their employees? Why wouldn't anyone return a phone call or an email message from a viable candidate with some sort of response, even if it's to tell me I was no longer considered a candidate? From the comments I've read here, it seems like a common practice for the company. Why does Intuit believe it's appropriate to treat people this way? |
|
Gail Houston in San Diego, California 6 months ago |
I am a recruiter with Intuit and am more than happy to look up your information and give you a reply. I don't think it is ever the recruiters intention to not follow up. I truly believe sometimes it is just an oversight. Please feel free to send me a private email to gail_houston@intuit.com and I can help you get some feedback. Take care

suresh ballada in Massachusetts said: can anybody tell me questions/interview pattern for software engineering positions at intuit. Hi Suresh, It depends on the level of Software Engineer you are pursuing, but typically a phone interview with a recruiter, a technical phone interview and then an in-person interview with anywhere from four to six people. Sometimes follow-up conversations/interviews need to happen if not all the information was gathered. At Intuit we focus on certain competencies for each open and motivational fit as well as communication. Competencies could include technical, team building, innovation, leadership, etc. For example, a Senior Software engineer will probably have two people focus on technical for the in-person and then others could focus on innovation, mult-tasking and decsion-making. We use an assessment method that asks behavorial type questions as well. If you need more detail or have specific questions around an opening, please feel free to email me at jennifer_hasche@intuit.com. Hope this helps and thanks for asking!

I am so sorry that you have had a bad experience with the interview process. I will forward your comment to the manager that runs the India Talent Organization. Intuit truly wants the candidate experience to be a good experience. Unfortunately things sometimes get missed. We will work to correct the situation immediately. If you are willing to send me your name and email address, I can assure you that you will be given feedback on your interview. Please feel free to send me an email to gail_houston@intuit.com |

I understand your frustration and apologize that you have not gotten any feedback. I will make sure the manager knows this is the second time this has happened so that we can try to improve the candidate experience. I wish you the best. Gail Houston - gail_houston@intuit.com |
