Do you work at Ipa? How did you find the job? How did you get that first interview?

Any advice for someone trying to get in?

It's very easy to work for IPA. They don't interview you face to face, just over the phone. RED FLAG! When you accept the job and arrive in Chicago for training (UNPAID traning--another RED FLAG) you are picked up in a limo and then taken to a dive motel. You are trapped in the hotel for a week and then told to hop on a plane and sell their consulting services. The first client I called on, didn't know I was coming and threw me out of the business. The second client was an old man that knew I was coming but I could not make him cry and stay awake all night to do the job that I had to do for IPA. This is a very unethical company and they use tactics on their clients that is very wrong.

I worked for ROI which is a related company to IPA, both owned by the same individual. IPA, ROI, GBS, and ABS are owned by John Burgass. The training is very poor and lasts 1 week. As Bekki stated above, the following Monday you fly off to meet with your first client. The prospect of obtaining a "go-ahead" for the consulting service (the term IPA, ROI, GBS, and ABS uses) after one week of training is very remote. This actually was told to us by one of the Site Survey Director (SSD), the analyst's boss back at the home office. Sure enough, in my class of 19, only 1 got a "go-ahead" the first week.

The service provided by this alphabet soup company is actually very good. I worked for this company for two months and only received 1 go-ahead. I just was not good enough to close and I also fault the poor training received. But I did meet many business owners who had little idea on how to run their company or how to make money. These business owners really needed our services.

Keep in mind the following: this job is 100 percent commission. Though your travel will be arranged for you, you are given only $425 per week to cover all your expenses including lodging, rental car, food and any other miscellaneous expenses. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee you will be reimbursed.

Bottom line: I did learn a lot about how to run businesses but was a very expensive lesson.
