I actually went yesterday to take my assessment test and passed it. All i did was review the questions on this forum...so I would really recommend that to everyone. I had my interviews and was offered a position which I accepted...but the thing is they said there were going to send me some I-9 form and what not through email...i haven't received it yet and I have to go back with everything tomorrow morning at 8:30...does anyone know what the process is once you get an offer and how long it usually takes??? |

did you review anything other than the questions on here. Is there enough questions on the forum for one to pass the test. I couldn't find that many on here. Please help or anything else I can study from. I am supposed to call the lady back soon to re test, I took it back in March and failed. Thanks |
|
Sruthi in New York, New York 57 months ago |
There are only 10 questions on the test...just go through the questions on the forum...thats all I needed to do and I was fine. Make sure you take your time and go through everything as many times as you can. Dont rush...just write everything down and analyze. there were two analytical questions that I spent a lot of time on...besides that the questions on this forum should be enough. |

Greetings I have taken the personal banker assesment tests for JP Morgan and Bank of America. Passsed all of the portions of it, usually typically score low on the personality tests. I don't know why, I figure you would agree to questions like when there is nothing to do you find more work to do, or you also Strongly agree to not let customers bother you. The questions I never fully understood is, is it good or bad to be outgoing and social at work. Some places I have worked for in the past request that everyone not socialize with one another, but I do not want to see like a manic depressive weirdo. I seriously doubt you will bring in additional 30 thousand dollars in addition to your base salary. You might make great commision. As far as the agressive approach or tac to selling, I do not think it is ment to be that agressive. They might need someone to go to potential employers and recruit. Immediatly approach people that walk in the bank or occasional answer question that people might have when they use the terminals. For the most part it is the simplest job in the world, alot of them seem to really not be capable of opening proper checking accounts. I have had people place me in money market accounts for now reason. In the past although I have interviewed with most of the coorporate banks I have never really been given an opportunity to serve as a personal banker. I have had other customer service, sales and loan processing type jobs with the Federal Reserve, International Bank of Commerce and Washington Mutual. However my ability to win over the human resources department has not been succesfull. I notice though that typically my energy levels in the retail enviroment are really awesome, I have worked in information technology and several other retail places and I am fast on my feet and enjoy multi-tasking and helping people. |

BOB in Charlevoix, Michigan said: So it seems to me that the person who made only 10-12k was not able to properly find out customers needs. Profiling financial needs is 100% of what the job entails. You can be succesful with learning 5 questions to ask every person you meet. The rest is not up to you, it is up to other people who rely on you to make their check. The PB is the force that drives continued business, and they are paid what they are worth. I know of PBs who make over 150k per year doing what they do because they are interested in doing the right thing for customers every day. Hi Bob,
So what are the 5 questions? |

Yes what is the interview like? Do they actually make you do role playing? |
|
sruthi in New York, New York 57 months ago |
The interview was great...yes they do make you do a role play. My manager just asked me how I would sell other products to a client and I had to act it out as though she is my client. The key thing at the interview is to make the person interviewing you comfortable...both my manager and marketing manager were really nice...but I was less nervous once i was at the interview. The questions are mostly situational...so just make sure you think before u blurt out the answer. They are just looking for someone that can be extremely patient with clients. All i can say is...regardless of what some think on this forum, the offer is pretty good and its no harder than any other job. Dont forget to negotiate once they make the offer. Good luck with the interview... |

How many total interviews did you have? Were you successful in getting a higher offer? My interview is this Wednesday and I am nervous. |

Kathleen D Chelsey in New York 57 months ago |
thanks! will they tell you which product they want you to sell? I Have never had sales experience, will this be hard for me? |

Then don't...its not like anybody is forcing you. I was made an offer that didn't work for me so I simply told them that...and my recruiter matched it. |
|
Cindi in Matteson, Illinois 57 months ago |
So you were able to get a better offer! In the phone interview they make you think they will not budge on the salary but I believe in negotiating. It also lets them know you are assertive and value your worth which is a plus for any salesperson. |

How do they decide which recruiter will call you? I understand that if you live in a large metropolitan area, you can actually be contacted by several recruiters. Is this true? Does anyone know? |

Is this true? Does anyone know? Usually it is all done online, or atleast that's what they say. In Houston JP Morgan is a substantial work horse in this city. Although it can be tough your best bet is to make some form of contact, perhaps stop by and say "Greetings, I have completed most of the online assesments and evaluations (referencing you application) what necessary steps should I take to possibly schedule an opportunity to speak with you or the hiring personnel or maybe even attend one of your group interviews. Re-Arrange it a little bit. That's what worked for me last time, I did not even own a suit then. Now I have one of the badest ones ever made. Usually when they have those open house interviews that's means that they have substantial amount of posistions available. While I was there all of the district managers were there. I was disapointed American Express was totally and completely optimistic about bringing me on-board. Just could not afford the licensing. I don't understand at all what all the fuss is about. I recently interviewed with Robert Half and had some outragious test scores of like 11,000 key strokes a minute and they were like "we don't want your kind here" sorry....... |

Just be very carefull, first of all my typos. Second, when they start that non-sense about speaking in the third person. Then that can be somewhat wishy washy. |

I have a question, the assesment test I took was alot diffrent it asked questions like what are mutual funds, cds, and simple mathematics. There were question I think about percentages and so fourth. is this the exact test that people take to be qualified for a personal banker posistion? if so i need some help on question like what would be the next number in the order. unless it is something odd such as the last number changes in variables of three or something. is there an equation to figure out such questions. on question 2 - are those percentages or the number of reports that are damaged? if they just need to now how many to order why don't you just add them up? and if you need 195 unusable reports. when they say 90%? 90% if what? |

I had an interview for a Personal Banker position this past week with the Branch Manager. It went well. I already have my Series 6 and 63. She gave me the impression that the job was mine, she said that HR would be calling me to make an offer. I spoke with HR today and they said that I would have to meet with the regional manager first. I am going to prepare as if this were any interview. Is this meeting a formality or should I expect to be grilled with some tough questions? Of course I will prepare for the latter but it would be nice if it were just a casual meeting. In addtion to this they have not mentioned anything about taking a test, I saw in an earlier post that I would not be required to take the test because I have my 6 and 63. Can anyone let me know what I should expect as the process moves along? Thanks. |

This goes out to everyone that is looking to join Chase as a personal banker. First off the job can be very rewarding as far as pay, and yes to one of the post above, their are MANY bankers that make 30k over their salary and well over that. As a banker you can see every bankers PVC's in Chase, and 30% of the bankers make over 30k in addition to their salary, with the top 3 bankers currently averaging 150k with salary (i swear to god this is not a lie). "Here's the catch though" Chase is probly the most aggressive banking sales force of all banks. I have friends with Citi, Harris, 5th Third, and Wamu, and none of them have anywhere near as much pressure as we do. So for those that do not like the thought of constantly pulling from the lobby, taking their transaction and pulling up peoples acct.'s, this job is not for you. Chase only takes driven sales people, and if you follow their way you will move up to any position you want in the company within 2 years (i.e. business banker, Finanacial advisor, Loan Officer, Manager, Chase at Work specialist, or you can go the opposite route and go Corporate). I have been with the company for over a year, bouncing around branch's while I waited for mine to be built, and I have seen 6 people who performed just decent get promoted after 2 years. All in all be prepared to be pressured, and if you work well under those conditions then this is the job for you. All in all I love my job because I make great money, and they have already told me that if I stay on the track I am at now I will be promoted to my position of choice (business banker) with in the next 6 month's. Good luck to all. |

Brutus in Akron, Ohio said: I just passed the quiz and successfully interviewed with the recruiter. The test was simple. I will be leaving a competing bank for the opportunity to work with Chase. My current employer has what sounds to be similar sales goals from month to month. The only thing that I am nervous about, if offered the job, is the series 6 & 63 exams. I have a bachelors degree so I'm assuming that given the time frame to study there should be no problems, but that is a heck of a lot of pressure for one test. In my opinion if you are a salesperson you should have no problems in this type of work. My current position is similar in nature and I have never had my ethics questioned when it comes to pushing a product. If the product isn't right for the customer find one that is. Anyway I'm going in for my interview with the branch manager tomorrow so wish me luck! Hey Brutus, I have interviewed with the Branch Manager and the District Manager here in Columbus. They told me basically that the job is mine and I should here from HR on Monday. if I've made it this far, do you think that truly I can feel good about getting the job? |

Gary in Schaumburg, Illinois said: I worked for Chase June 2005 until March 2007. I think it is a great place as a steping ladder to your career. I was right out of college and gained my 3 licences and great experience my time their. The key to being successful is being in a afluent area!!! I worked in a suburb in Bergen County with 25 other banks in our town. I averaged 1200 a month in commision my highest payout being 5000 and lowest being 350. If you like sales and are half way decent with it their is no way you shouldnt be making 1200 commision if your in the tri-state area. Outside the tri-state I could imagine it being more difficult because everything is on a smaller scale. The pay range is tristate is between 35-42k and from what I hear you can get up to 49999 if you have licenses and experience. I know alot about the company and the way they waork so if you have any questions regarding a PB job let me know!!! I have interviewed with the Branch Manager and the District Manager here in Columbus. Looking through all of the postings I have seen alot about getting in to the company, people that make great money, and people that despised working for them. My question to past employees is "is there alot of bankers that get fired because they do not make enough PVC's?" I just want to know what the grounds of losing your job. I was recently hired on to chase as a banker and I need to know what to expect. Also, who is in charge of letting employees go, the manager or district manager? |

I gotta share my experience. I applied, took the tests, past with flying colors. Aced the initial interview with recruiter, scheduled 2nd interview immediatly after the recruiter interview. she called both branch managers that I would be interviewing with and told them both that she had a good feeling about me and to give immediate feedback. I aced that interview as well and an hour later got called back for a final interview with a panel consisting of 2 district managers and a market manager. They sat me down and the interview started. All 3 were jackasses and were hurrying through asking the question quickly and acted like they were unhappy with there lives. Overall, made me feel unwanted and uncomfortable. I am a confident person with years of experience in sales. Have a great resume. After the interview, I called the recruiter to see if she had good feedback, she didnt answer, I called about 5 times over the next 2 days and no anwer. Finally she answered and said she intended on calling me to let me know that the final panel didnt feel that I would be a fit!! What a waste of time. |

Don't be ridiculous. If you want to work for the second largest financial institution in the world you have to be aggressive. Which means you are aggressively finding what peoples needs are. It's silly to assume that because you are servicing people out of the lobby that it means you are helping them get a playstation 3. |
