READ THIS PLEASE!!They phone interview and if you pass they give you a nice $ amount per hour and when its time for a face to face interview they change and lie about how much you really make. What a scam. Why would they want to hire people who would buy into this.
It's another slap in the face to women out there and the sad thing is women are doing this to women. Whats wrong with you jenny craig. Well, you did lose alot when you had Monica lewiski as your spoke person.. Girls what does this tell you about the company?

Interesting. I just received a call from them yesterday for a phone interview. I'm curious, but cautious. How far in the interview process did you go? Thanks for posting your message.

I have beeen working at Jenny Craig for 5 years. I started as a client coordinator(receptionist, basically) and then decided that I wanted to consult bc i believe in the program. They have some wacky ways of doing things granted, but I did not have the experience you did in regards to the pay rate.
My Center Director was open and honest.. it was up to me to decide if I wanted to accept it.It can be a great company.. its the ONLY place I have EVER worked where I looked forward to going to. BUT I hear that this is not the way at ALL centers.. especially as a Consultant..it is commission based/hrly pay rate.SO some people can be very cut throat... its up the the center director to maintain the policies. If anyone has a problem they should go through the chain of command.
Hope this helps.

The rate of pay given to potential new employees by an outside recruiting company is unrealistic for new employees. The average hourly rate of pay (hourly+comisssion)is about $11.00 for new employees. Long term expericed employees can easliy make $18.00-$24.00. The pay may be different depending on what state you live, amount of clients in each centre and if you work at a corporate or franchise centre.

OK, first off: today I am quitting my job as a Program Director for Jenny Craig. I lasted about 7 weeks. I will do my best to portray a balanced view of my experiences so those considering a position with this company can get a handle on what may be in store for them. First let me say the overall my experience was a positive one and that leaving was actually a tough decision to make. First, the positives. My boss, the Centre Director has been the best "boss" I've had in 20 years. Committed, bright and honest; she has made a genuine and sincere effort to ensure my success. Her blend of corporate professionalism and just being a real person was just perfect. One thing about this company is that they do not skimp on training for the position of Program Director. The multiple sessions took place in another centre and feature truly excellent and comprehensive sales and program classes and were just first class. I have been impressed by the regional managers and centre directors who were featured in sessions. I admire these folks for their dedication and commitment, they did could not have done more to be helpful to all the trainees to learn the strange business/sales model of this company. I say strange because essentially you are trained not to act as counselors to the poor fat souls that seek a weight loss solution. You are trained from the very first inquiring phone call to form a sales event, from securing an appointment...to selling a premium membership.....to buying the highest dollar amount of food per week....to purchasing exersize equipment...etc;etc......Now I must say that there that Jenny Craig "product" ie, consultative sessions and pre-packaged foods is actually a potentially effective solution for many for weight loss. The structure of the program is a good one, and they have the track record (over 25 years) of success along with some long term success stories to prove it. Truth is when you are truly committed to lose weight you need a...

plan. There are many solutions to facilitate a successful structure to weight loss. Weight watchers is probably the the best known with a track record of statistics to back it up. My theory on folks that are successful over the long haul with weight loss is that they truly and absolutely WANT IT!!! It is of supreme importance to their very being that it is successful. But as we all know, there are a million and one reasons for failure. The bottom line is somehow those that are successful reach some sort of psychological "snapping" point that leads to sustained behavior changes. If you follow the Jenny Craig program letter to the law, you will lose weight. The food is delicious and is a great way to learn portion control and balanced eating. The secret is no secret. Stay in a mild caloric deficit long enough and you will lose 1-2 pounds a week. Jenny Craig employees are trained to not waste words when speaking with prospects and clients. Every utterance is designed to mold and shape a client to BUY!!! It is absolute genius. Problem is....back to those poor fat souls...they never see it coming. Those sincere words from your "counselor" are simply psycholinguistic prompts to keep you buying. That is the bottom line. Now I'm not saying that Jenny Craig doesn't help people to reach their goals. For me there is just a bit of moral issue with offering "counseling" and selling at the same time. Now you can justify all of this by believing that service and product are valid are good and effective. Just don't for a minute think that you are actually in the role of a true counselor, because you are not. There is an ethical gulf with providing true counseling to a human being and simutaneously selling them something with psyche-out of Hannibal Lector! The experiences outside of training classes...those hours spent actually in the center left much to be desired. There was an appreciable gulf between the precribed "by the book" methods and actual...

execution. Bottom line....the time varies from client to client; but eventually the ones that keep comming back all seem to eventually "catch on" and realize they are weekly sales prospects/events. Many do succeed in their weight loss (and rarely weight maintenance) efforts. But the great majority of folks seem to be caught in a strange limbo of buying and eating the food and going nowhere. Now this is absolutely the norm in the general population. The point is they are buying food every week from JC as opposed (or in addition) to someplace else. During busy times within the centre is was quite chaotic in the lobby. It is a known that Americans do not tolerate waiting in line very well when making purchases, and let me tell you tempers rise quickly when they are buying diet food especially after getting on a scale and having found they gained 3 pounds. There is tremendous turnover in this company and I believe one flaw is that they need to spend more money covering the execution of purchases. Quite often there is insufficient staff to fill food orders/answer the phone/restock/greet clients/cash out customers....etc. Those impatient pudgy folks get annoyed in a hurry. I believe that if the company committed more budgetary dollars to covering the "front end" that the consultants (counselors) would easily generate more sales dollars to more than cover the cost. This has been long winded and I could go on and on....! The bottom line is there is a major discrepancy between the theoretical and actual execution of the service with this company. The clients eventually all see this gulf, and the whole psychological house of cards eventually comes crashing down. If you want to know more feel free to email me at: saturnhouse1@hotmail.com

IN the past month they have mandated a reduction in hours for the centers... therefore many are now closed on Sundays. The justification is that scheduling needs to be more efficient. I can't imagine this company would do much in the way of laying off because the turnover is so damn high they only have to wait a month and 1/4 of the staff is gone by attrition!

I have recently relocated, I can't speak for every location, but the ones i have knowledge of have changed their hours. In the centers i have worked in the turn over is not large.I think alot of it depends on the center director and how they deal with staff. there are some real stinkers out there.I asked recently if they had ever had layoffs and i was told no, but bc of the recent financial downspin, some centers are laying off. its bad all around, but people consider seeking jc as a weight loss solution is a luxury.

I'm considering a consulting position, how extensive is their hiring process? Do they require alot of previous employer or personal references? Do they do drug or criminal background screening? Or does anyone have a shot at a position with Jenny Craig?
