Every business has it's own style. What is the office environment and culture like at Judge?

Are people dressed in business casual, jeans and t-shirts, or full-on suits? Do folks get together for Friday happy hours and friendly get-togethers?

What is a typical day in the life of an employee at Judge?

Wow! Funny, you are one of the recruiters (among others at Judge)I have sent my resume to multiple times during a recent job search. Several of the positions were an EXACT MATCH to my skill set and I still got no response.

It may be a nice place to work, but it is not so nice from the clent side of the transaction.

Judge is on my exclude list on all of my job search queries along with Liberty, Teksystems, and several others in the Phialdelphia area.

Virtually all of the recruiting firms I have encountered are un-professional and a waste of time. I try to pass this on to all of the IT professionals that I know. Most of the places you really want to work handle their own recruting anyway.

Don't waste you time with these guys

Scott,
Everyone is obviously entitled to their opinion about us. I get over 1000 emails a day from candidates, subcontract companies, spam, and current contractors. I try to follow up with everyone but it becomes virtually impossible. I work very hard to stay professional and keep a good reputation out there. Timing is everything, maybe last time you sent me your resume I did not have a position for you. I may today. I remember a lot of names, skill sets, and qualifications but can't remember everyone and sometimes great candidates slip through the cracks. Why don't you come to the office and meet with me? I know you will have a different opinion and maybe you will change your mind.

Each office has it's own culture. Where are you located?

Use your imagination in regards to this company. Picture an obnoxious, elderly owner, surrounded by yes men and women, who offer no value to the bottom line of the company. The recruiter and sales force are made up of family, friends, friends of friends, no direction, and trying to re-invent the wheel. I would not reccomend using them in any way shape or form.

I would never work with them, too much fluff not alot of substance. there are a handful of recruiters/sales that have actual experience, the ohters are friends of friends and family members with NO experience.

Brad, would you call a candidate without having an open position for them? I received a call from a Judge recruiter, saying he had seen my resume in the database and would like to "talk" to me about my resume. To me, a serious jobseeker, I'm going to call him back because I think he's found a job for me. Guess what? NO JOBS! WASTED TIME! Why call if you don't have an opportunity for me? I was lucky that someone from Judge even called! I've submitted my resume numerous times for jobs that I was perfectly qualified for, only to receive NO RESPONSE!!! I've even followed up by e-mailing the recruiter to check on the status of my credential review. Once again, NO RESPONSE!!!

Tiger Girl 99,
I would not call somone just to call them unless I have a relationship with them and want to touch base. Most of my work is with consultants that tend to move from client to client so I keep in constant contact to see where they are, when they will be available, and if they work for me how the project is going. Call me tomorrow and I will look you up in my database and tell you what happened in your specific situation with a Judge recruiter. I can speak for myself and my team but there are many Judge offices and many recruiters nationwide....I have had bad coffee from WaWa on one day and the best coffee from the same WaWa on other days....just depends on who is brewing it.

Brad you may want to get out of recruiting and go into Public Relations. It isn't about WAWA Coffee being good one time and bad another time. It is about being consistant across the board and it comes down to internal hiring and good coffee. You must admit, it is a freefall over there. TigerGirl 99, the reason you got a call, because their are calling quotas, etc... The company is as good as the people who work there.....

I have had bad experiences with Judge also. But they are not, by far, the worst. I think that distinction goes to Human Capital Management, comprised mostly of clueless recruiters that are filling out forms and matching skills and requirements. Never attribute to malice that which can be explained by ineptitude. They also win the prize for the most “Orwellian” company name.

Having been a hiring manger for many years I can assure you that there is more to recognizing quality candidates than matching requirements to skills. If you are looking for passion, enthusiasm, and a drive to succeed you are going to have to work a little harder than most recruiters.

While Brad is correct in his assertion that not all recruiters are incompetent, the culture of the company has a huge impact on the way recruiters behave. Most recruiting firms consider the “accounts” (the companies they are recruiting for) as their customers and the “talent” (that’s us) as the commodity they are selling their customer. They really have no vested interest in your future. How many times has a recruiter submitted you for a position and you never heard from them again? Too many times to count, I think.

The tide is turning. More and more IT and product development professionals are abandoning the recruiting firms (as I have) and only dealing directly with hiring companies. Yes, there are a few companies left that only hire through recruiters but when the realization hits that the talent pool they want is out there they will come around.

Finally, I try not to take this personally. They are just trying to make a living, albeit off of our talent, but the recruiters did not design the system.

It's funny i stumbled upon this forum. judge is very reckless in their recruiting efforts. My friend was called by a Judge recruiter, a male, and went over a job, that my friend is currently working at. This happened about 2 months ago. no excuse
I was their for a interview about 6 months ago, in the judge offices, to meet with a company. It was like a circus, people coming and going, no professionalism, i hear multiple curse words around me from Judge Staff, it was awful, very uncomfortable.
as it stands now, im in a spot that i can use outside agancies, no way in the world would i use judge. First impressions are the most important.

Chuck, you left out mgrs throwing other mgrs under the bus just so they can get closer to the owner and his boat, which Brad as been on several times.....and dont leave out trying to get drunk with the owner either in his office with his remote control bar or in one of the 2 limos they have on staff. And we cant leave out a certain sr. vp that is so far up the owners a** that neither of them can see see straight! All he cares about is taking over the company once the owner retires and if that means stabbing co-workers or his direct reports in the back then so be it.

Let me know if you need any more help visualizing the place!

I love Staffing and want to change it in boston, Massachusetts

You know i love the staffing industry so much. I only wish we can make it reach it's true potential. It really hurts me (seriously) when i go through these forums on indeed and see candidates and clients alike venting from their bad experiences.we need a plan people . we need a way to get rid of crappy recruiters and crappy companies so that the ethical and moral ones prevail- just a thought. Anywho, I'm going through the application to join judge group this week and reading through these forums, I'm a little scared. can anyone e-mail me and give me a detailed description of the problems i'll face with them so i can make a good decision. I'm particularly interested on the culture. I can't bear a negative environment but i can handle aggressive ones. tell me more please. bananaman4u@hotmail
