anxious applicant in Wilmington, Ohio said: I've been reading KBR and Dyncorp forums and notice one thing about the supportive members here... Ksnippey loves to argue with females. Got issues with women KSNIPPY.. Well anxious i have been doing this work for over 10 years, i think i might know little bit more LOGCAP than alot of folks. I have seen people come and see people go. No arrogance and if i am not mistaken you have never worked on a LOGCAP assignment. Yes, this has become a social network and instead of talking about jobs and information to assist people all we get is folks giving martial advice, asking the same questions repeatedly, and talking like they know everything. Corporate and LOGCAP are 2 different beast i have known people who have worked both and the transition is not easy. But no arguements here but make sure you are giving correct information. Whenever you get over Anxious do as you please and don't listen to what people are trying to tell you. I will leave it at that. |

Sunshine7 in Houston, Texas said: Let me say this in all fairness to everyone. However you chose to carry yourself in your work environment is up to you. But to put it out there that one particular way is the best and perhaps the only way to behave within a partiular company is unfair. Unless the Employer states that the work environment is as such, then I think that we are all expected to be ourselves in a professional manner. Some people are quite, some people are talkative, some move fast some move slow. To each his own. In the end as long as you are doing your job, in a manner that promotes a POSITIVE image, you're gonna be all right. Don't make it appear that anything other than laying low, with your head down and mouth closed will get you in trouble or worst fired. The Employer hires you for who you are and what you bring to the table professionally, not how fast you can say yes em', or how low you lay. But again, in all fairness, if that's the way things work for you, then do you. Good Luck ALL! This is the last comment i will make to you Sunshine, folks since Sunshine has worked for the LOGCAP contract so long she knows the ends and outs of the job. Pretty funny she just showed up giving all of this information. Corparate and in the field is 2 different monsters. If you have never worked on LOGCAP, prepare yourself for the worst and do not expect the best. If you are not use to sharing a living space with 4-6 people and all other discomforts then make sure have a open mind and willing to adapt. Iraq is slowly downsizing, you can get to Dubai and be turned around and sent home. Or you might thought you were going to HQ Baghdad and end up at Remote sites. Stand in line to get a shower or to get something to eat sorry DFAC closed or dang the water ran out. Things change over here like i change my socks daily. Just be flexible that all i am saying. Take it for what you want but i am honest and tell it like it is. |

Ksnipper I've worked at Bucca, Stryker, F2 and visited other sites like T1 and its not that bad, I mean people get used to the living conditions. I've stayed in tents but now mostly everyone has wet Chus. I've never had water run out! Only hot water in my room. If it does big deal contact trans dept or logistics and they'll send a truck to fill the tank. The dfacs have a schedule and are always open according to that schedule. Kbr will not risk pissing off some general or col who couldn't eat. Now in my 4 yrs there I met ppl who worked there many more yrs than me but always at the same camp. My job forced me to travel for business or change camps. So my experience is a little different. Not sure what you and sunshine are arguing about but what's the point of scaring people into thinking they're headed to prison or something? One thing you are right about is that anyone hired has to be willing to adapt to constant changes. |

Zack, i guess you were not at Bucca when we went on shower hours and the detainees had all water they wanted to play in? I was at Bucca as well F2, a bunch of remote sites when the water ran out and if you were late for chow and military run DFAC closed then you were out of luck. If we have a different opinion then everyone assume we are arguing. At Gary Owen you could not call trans because the military ran everything. A lot of folks think working in Baghdad, Speciher, JBB or some of the other cupcake camps is like that all over Iraq. I have been at some real crap holes but the what made the camp was the people you worked with. Not trying to scare people, but if you know what you can possibly get into then you know how to deal with it. If you call scaring people by sharing some of the experiences of what COULD HAPPEN then we are setting people up for failure. Last thing Zack, when you have people DEMOB because they have to double in a room then you see some folks have there standards and won't stand for change. Good Luck to you dude and hopefully processing will speed up because people are getting delayed due to the SF85 process. |

I have not pumped myself up to belive that this is in any way going to be a cake job or pool side Holiday Inn. Anything but. I'm used to working two jobs, 70+ hours a week or better, up intill two years ago when I got laid off. I know this is going to be more like the worst camping trip you could ever be on. I've been camping since I was in boy scouts over 25 years ago so being in a tent with 6-8 people,..no biggie. I've camped in nice weather, down pours and snow. Did I like it no! but did I make it throught yes as I will this, when I'm givin the chance. Honest I'm looking forward to the challenge and experience. |

Just expect the worst and hope for the best. Pack light because if you have to take a chopper to your site and you have 2 suitcases. One will go and one will stay. Have your loved ones mail the stuff you need once you get to where you will finally be. Big that is the attitude to have. |

It's all cool ksnipper. Yeah I was at Bucca Jan 07 to Dec 07 and I had ky own room but I remember when I was leaving by then there was like over 100 ppl in tents and they were all pissed. What I hated about Bucca is that they gave ice to the detainees b4 the soldiers and us. Hahahahaha ever experience that one ? It sucked. Well good luck to you to bro. We should all get along here I think and just help each other with info on this whole new process. At the end some will make it to Logcap and leave in weeks for different reasons from not adjusting to being let go and others will stay till the project ends. Good luck to all and let's get along. Funny because online we may argue but if we were to meet in Iraq we could be friends. I've made some of my best friends over there. Now i have friends in India Nepal Philippines Bosnia Macedonia UK and all over the US !!! Awesome jaja |

listen everybody kbr will tell you whats going on when you get to processing, what to bring how to dress, etc is in the packet you received when it got sent to you, so why should ksnipper be telling you what to bring? people are asking questions that was posted days ago, if you just go back you'll see them. for example if you pack to much they will make you leave some of it behind, its simple as that. so if you bring something thats to heavy and you really need to have it,chances are you won't leave with it! people had brand new shoes they had to leave behind because their bags weighed to much. anything you have questions about will be answered at processing, and then you'll realize some of the things you were told here wasn't true. if it wasn't for the sf85 most of us would have been or would be in processing by now., we're mainly here to share experiences on wait time and people who have been cleared. so like sunshine said, lets stay encouraged! |

I worked over here and i experianced the no water situations and no ice. Positive is this, set your goals, save your money and move on. Don't waste your money on getting a new car every year or going on lavish vacations. Contracting is not a career it is a short time adventure. I know alot of people who have done the things i have mentioned and went home without a pot to pee in. yes you can be encourage but bottom line is this. This job does not last forever and some folks think that. Set your goals, acheive them and prepare a plan B. lyte i did not tell anyone what to bring, i am speaking from experiance and how much the goodwill loves KBR. They donate the stuff people could not bring. |

Plus half the stuff they tell you in processing will end up being false or not applying once in country, so giving it to people straight on this board is not being negative its just giving the reality that processing doesnt always paint |

I guess people just don't believe it wasn't to long ago we had a group of 20 some new hires get to the BTC, hung around for a day or two and get sent right back home due to their positions no longer being required. If you are a re-hire or new hire this is not the time to be thinking about anything but getting the first payday in and then getting to the next. Any long term plans, R&R plans should be eradicated from the thought process. In addition, a careful eye on the tax situation. The good times, 5 years plans are long gone. |

It is like i never done this, been through processing or dealt with the recruiters oh well. The part about face book it is more like twitter giving these updates. It will turn into if you make a unpopular comment they will be on you like wolves. They had that on another forum and that came to a screeching halt when it was moderated and it was back to business. |

You people and there are a few of you Sunshine-Kevin_Lyte to mention a few tell others there to "negative" and for anyone not willing to be part of this dribble you spout to leave them alone, well this forum was created to help real people get jobs, answer questions not this nonsense of where are you in the SF-85 process. You can say what you want snipper but we didn't get quite that unbelieving when it came to you telling us what to expect while incountry. It didn't really get bad until cowboy started being so arrogant about women. WE never said you guy's didn't know what you were talking about. If you think back if someone asked a question we couldn't answer we referred them to you guys in country. We also asked your advise and asked your opinions. We also never popped on one of the other forums, ask you a inch of questions then go back on the forum we were on and made out like we were all knowing on our own. We would copy and paste your comments and that way gave you credit for info. If we didn't value your opinions (all you guys over there) we would not still pop on here to pick your brains occasionally.

Lyte, I would think there are several people here who are either in country "down range" or were and contribute factual and useful information. I mean if you’ve been over here before how many times did you get new hires who after a week on ground were like "they never told me I'd be doing this" or something similar. I believe the best you are prepared with the positive and negative and keep an open mind you'll be that much better off for it. It's people who are holding out for false hope of something that may or may not happen and most likely won't. I mean, no one is making this up on closures and being out of country. Yes they are having job fairs because people are leaving for Afghan. The writing is on the wall and some of us realize it. I also believe Knowledge is power and it may be negative but it's not meant to be "destructive" as it is constructive. I mean I really would hate to get in country and then be told I've probably got 4-5 months before I was RIFed. |

The "my recruiter said" comments can all be dismissed due to the fact their only concern is a warm body in Houston and for them to meet the quota. That's about it. I have two or three ex-Iraq friends working in recruiting and I can tell you for sure that after they left the country that's all they know - what it was like when they were here. Most are upfront and tell you that. I mean let's take Anaconda for example. Everyone who was and is a KBR employee can tell you once VBC and JBB go by the wayside it's a sign of the end. Negative? I don't think so. Reality? Yea. |

We could be told tomorrow or the next day no one is coming in. All money. See, I threw something positive in. |

usmi i just read your post and you seem to one be on those who gets a hard on by telling people whats going on in iraq. FYI i've been back and forth in iraq since 2003 but you don't see me posting stuff i've seen and been through while over there. some of the stuff i've seen back then would make you and snipper have nightmares. so what if people get there and get to btc and get turned around. we went for weeks with you salty, and snipper here telling people whats going on. will people not go because you said they might get turned around in dubai? no! so why are you here? why don't you and snipper just exchange mail between each other, you agree salty? i have a better idea, why don't you come to processing and tell people whats going on. that way you won't have to hide behind your keyboard. i'm sure kbr could use the help(lmfao!) so again, go somewhere else with trying tell people what kbr will tell them when they get to processing, or they'll find out for themselves. |

Let me guess lyte you seen stuff to make me have nightmares oh really. I am not going to fight with you. You seem to be so informed, so i am not going to acknowledge your post. At least you have registared and not post anonymously. I don't hide behind my keyboard i am over here and my question is are you? If not please sit on the side lines and be quite Iraq is not the way you left it. You comment is not important, at least we tell people and you let them find out for themselves. If the keep listening to you they will think it is disney land here. oh well people have a choice if you don't want to read our post then don't. |

Ksniper777 in San Antonio, Texas said: You must have worked mostly corporate and the energy side of the house and not the log cap side of the house no arguments. See you did know about LOGCAP and Halliburton's involvement. Just adding more information from the LOGCAP side of the house. I don't to look up the history of company. That is how fights get started when you correct someone. I know you posting alot of good information concerning the process and i hope you continue to do it. Good luck in the processing and hope you get to Iraq or whichever contract you were hired for. First let me thank you. You are correct. I did work the Corporate side. However, I am not totally ignorant to LOGCAP as I've stated before Hubby has worked LOGCAP for 7 years. I am not fighting with you, I beg to differ with you. If what I say one does not agree, then so be it. I'll be having my very own excperience with LOGCAP real soon, then I can speak first hand about it, but even then it will be about my very own experience. Thanks again. |

Zack in Houston, Texas said: Social site Hahahahaha I guess its true I check this more than Facebook. Today is 11 days since OPM closed my file... I need a YES or no !!!!! Yeah Zack you check it evryday for advise and information from people who are doing the same thing that you are doing. Trying to geT to work or are already working and have some insight. Not some lonely housewife or retired General that's not even looking for a job or have one for that matter. I can take heed to what someone says to me if they have had the experience themselves or are having it right now. Not someone that only has third party information. Read your horoscope. What does it say, "Great news coming from afar about a job you recently acquired", my says the same thing. What sign are you? (lol!!!) |

This forum Indeed.com was not created to be a a Social Networking Site. It is specifically for the JOB SEARCH and JOB INFORMATION! Pity on the person that is using it to social network. There is no way in hell that I will be on this forum once I am working. In the event I find myself seeking employment again, sure I'll return. But I think it's guite pitiful that grown people are networking friendships for 2/12 years(some longer)on a job forum. That's says alot. Stop telling people to get off the forum or start your own thread, heck you don't own this site. Start your own site. If you have 3 years ( some longer) to sit up on a job forum to make friends and start fights then you should certainly have time to start you own site. The real sad part is that you probably have never even met or spoken to any of the people that you have encountered on this forum in the trillion of years that you so proudly boast about. And if you did , you would dare say to their faces what you say on this forum. It's call Internet Muscles. So what? you been on this job forum site since 1999, now what? Where do you go from here? BACK TO WORK!!! |

lyte504 in houston, Texas said: listen everybody kbr will tell you whats going on when you get to processing, what to bring how to dress, etc is in the packet you received when it got sent to you, so why should ksnipper be telling you what to bring? people are asking questions that was posted days ago, if you just go back you'll see them. for example if you pack to much they will make you leave some of it behind, its simple as that. so if you bring something thats to heavy and you really need to have it,chances are you won't leave with it! people had brand new shoes they had to leave behind because their bags weighed to much. anything you have questions about will be answered at processing, and then you'll realize some of the things you were told here wasn't true. if it wasn't for the sf85 most of us would have been or would be in processing by now., we're mainly here to share experiences on wait time and people who have been cleared. so like sunshine said, lets stay encouraged! Right on Lyte504, Now ya talking! |

Good for you Big, I'm right their witcha. Ready to take on WHATEVER comes before me. I'll be darn if anyone on this forum guides me to my destiny and certainly not anyone telling me what I CAN"T or WON'T do. |

Eventually the whole operation will close IRAQ and AFGHANISTAN, so what, we know that. Anaconda is eventully going to close and so are other camps, even the one that you are at now. We move on to this next Country, ok. Who here was told by their Recuiter that this job is forever? If things are soooooooo bad for you guys, pack your bags and get ta skipping. Unless you are being held hostage, if so send someone an SOS and maybe they can get you outta there. Flies, Bombs, Dust, Tents, bad food, bad water, no ice, jacked up restroom, RIF's, all kinda crazy people, just nasty! nasty! nasty! WE GET IT! You made it... right? been there for how many years? Well why in the hell do you think that we can't or won't make it. Who are you to judge our agility, stamina or where with all for that matter...MEN OF STEEL! The people on this forum will make it without my or your advice and/or input, so don't think that you are running anything but your mouth, enuf of the strongarm tactic. People are in control of their own lives. But ya'll don't want to hear or believe that, it's an attack on your forum position as an "OLD TIMER". Move over OLD TIMERS, the NEW TIMERS are here and we ain't going no where. |
