I'm due to be in Houston on Monday for processing. Anybody know when we are supposed to find out what hotel we are staying at or a contact number I can call someone? |

LOGIMANAGER in Coppell, Texas said: Did you recruiter send you anything yet? I got mine on Wednesday, look for you there. Nothing. I have been trying to call her all week, and she hasn't returned my calls or emails. The last time I spoke with her she stated that my SF-85 was good to go. I took the WABI on Monday and passed it. Not sure what to do. Are you staying at the Hilton? |

Not sure how many people that are clearing this week. I would bet that you are going to end up going next week.

For returning employees we are told to call a KBR Medical Representive. Does anyone know from experience what they are asking for so I can be prepared? Does the WABI test ahve to be taken for a returning employee when requisitioned by managers? |

Chase in Jacksonville, Alabama said: By the way, what is a WABI test. It is a test you take online, when your recruiter sends you the link. Usually just before you leave for Houston. You don't take it at home, then they will make you take it when you get to houston. |

WABI Test - "Work Place Attitude and Behavior Inventory" they will send you an e-mail with the place you have to go take it close to your home. You either pass or fail. Common knowledge questions. |

they are still hiring for kbr.if it is for just a few months. why go. my recruiter lost my fingerprint cards, and i just recieved another copy.iam in the works for fluor.so i am not sure if kbr will be the right decision, especially if it is for just a few months. if they did get that new contract, maybe it would be worth it, but what is the chance you might be one to go. recruiter is not talking about it. |

My advice to all new hires and re-hires is to be 110% flexible when accepting a job in Iraq. Some bases are closing in September, some in October, some in November, and some in December. What does this mean? It means you may get to one base, help close it down, move to another base, help close it down, and repeat again. That is if there are jobs available at the "next" base for you to fill in. If no job is available to you, it's highly likely that you will be sent home. That's just the reality on the ground right now. My other advice would be to pack one suitcase and maybe a carry-on and be sure you can live with what you pack. PX's and Post Offices are closing theater-wide, so there will be very little opportunity for you to acquire a spare pair of pants or new boots once you get there. Bring what you need with you. For contact lens wearers, bring extra contacts and solution. (Odd advice, I know) There's no guarantee that you will be able to find saline solution on base at this juncture in the project. Hope this helps. |

I RECKON I CAN ADD TO THAT A LITTLE, IF YALL GOT A JOB WITH KBR ITS UP TO U TO TAKE IT,REALLY THIS CHANGES ALMOST DAILY, ITS CONTRACTING, BASES ARE CLOSING AND ON SCHEDULE TO CLOSE,DONT LISTEN TO RUMORS, AND LIKE JBF SAYS PACK LIGHT, YOU NEVER REALLY KNOW WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN OVER HERE, I AM AT MY SECOND BASE NOW SINCE I GOT HERE,WHO KNOWS, I WAS ONLY SUPPOSED TO BE HERE 2 WEEKS AND GO BACK TO MY HOME BASE, JUST HAVE A POSITIVE ATTITUDE AND BE FLEXIBLE |

One thing to keep in mind is with the bases getting smaller, living arrangments are changing, two to a room and such. also since the "footprint" is getting smaller as are the bases we are becoming easier targets. You will be seeing more incoming the last camp I was at took it's share of hits, the DEfac took a hit, just behind ops took one as well as other camps and places on the base. be very careful, and keep you ears open for the big voice and alarms. |

Johnny B Fury in Washington, District of Columbia said: As you probably already know, the LOGCAP III contract ends on 12/31/2011. LOGCAP IV is already underway in Iraq, but it is vastly smaller than LOGCAP III. However, KBR was recently awarded the Department of State support contract, which will fall under LOGCAP IV. (see the link in the post above) The DOS contract will have fewer jobs available than LC3, but it does enable KBR to stay in Iraq, therefore meaning there will be work through 2012 and probably through 2013. My understanding is that one of KBR's competitors challenged the KBR award of the DOS contract, so it may be a little while before all that gets sorted out and jobs come onto the market. For now though, you have LC3 to get you through until December. Hope this helps. Boy are you ill-informed. As you should know the contract is under protest and everything is in a flux. We are flying all the demobs out through Kuwiat now because it's a "dry country" and KBR just get's you to the airport and your on your own. 500 people today at BTC. Hours have been reduce (or next week) to 60...contract is so unpredicatable it's a living nightmare for us old timers. |

Obviously not, as I clearly stated that the DOS contract has been challenged. What part of that did you not understand? Further, why do you insist on making "your situation" a blanket statement? What's happening to you may not be happening to other people. I know for a fact that what you are experiencing is not happening in USD-South. Yes, situations are different. But that doesn't make you all-knowing. People like me need to contribute to this forum to counter the trash that gets passed off as "truth." |

That maybe USMI folks or LCIV but i have not heard anything like this for LCIII. Alot of folks have jump ship and now everything is on stand still due to the protest. USMI you have to realize everything does not happen like you say in all areas of Iraq. LCIV has a day off and working less hours. LCIII as i have been told is different. Not sure why they are being flown to Kuwait but it is kind of odd that this word is not on the street. I guess KBR is paying visa fee or they are transiting straight through because if this was true MS Sparky would have been on this like stink on DO DO!!!!!! |

The chances of you staying in IQ for more than 3-4 months are extremely slim yet, there is a chance you could be extended. I would go with the sure thing if your looking for at least a year under your belt. Heck, you should here all the rumblings about the troop red down to 3k...don't know if it's factual or not but that's really throwing people into a tizzy. |

i am sure that everybody in IQ has heard that the contractors out number the troops by almost 2 to 1, and ( our) gov. is complaining about the wasteful spending. they (our gov) does wan`t to cut down the troops to 3k, but in the same breath, they are saying that cutting back the troops would not do any good if anything would happen. like more attacks, bombings, etc. there would not be enough manpower to handle it.just watch more satelite tv. i think that since there is no end game.it is going to start all over again. just like MR BUSH 1 and KUWAIT.ONCE WE LEAVE, IT IS GOING TO START ALL OVER AGAIN. that is what they (the insurgents)are waiting on. THEY CAN MIND THEIR P`S AND Q`S TILL WE GET OUT. that is what they want.and we will be right back in there AGAIN. |

Mixer Mike 2 in Baghdad, Iraq said: They'll probably be hiring up to the week they send the last guys home...the question is...will it be worth your time to come over here now? probably not... Mike got an email on Tuesday that said they rescinded my job offer because logcap III positions had been strapped due to drawdown. This was the day I was to have a conference call about the logitics. They said to keep going through the clearence process. I'm wondering why they didn't offer a logcap IV position, in the first place. Does this sound strange to you? thanks |

Read back some on this forum. KBR is sending people home from Iraq by the plane load. Some of these people have years and years of contracting experience. It's not like it used to be, going to be very difficult to hire on unless you have history with them. You never have and never will be able to get in touch with a recruiter unless they want to get in touch with you. |

I know first hand I was in Houston when the stuff hit the fan. they sent me and over a hundred others home because we didn't have clearances. It takes between 2-3 months to get all the back ground checks done and they where not about to put us up in the hotels for that long. Now you have to have a minimum of a secret clearance. |

Not exactly correct sir, I was there then, and am still here now. In 09 the rules did change, the government required a Public Trust Investigation in order to recieve a CAC card, not a secret clearance. Everyone had to complete form SF85P, the government did the invstigation and it took a couple of months to complete. If the job position required a secret clearance a SF86 was filed, if the initial checks were OK an interim secret clearence was granted, normally within just a couple of weeks. If you waited 2-3 months, I doubt that you have a secret, the full investigation for a secret generally takes 9-11 months, but you are deployable after 2-3 weeks once the interim is granted. This is still the same requirements in place today. Very few contractors actually have a secret clearance, only as job position dictates. Most of which, including myself, only have had a "Public Trust" investigation. KBR, Fluor, DynCorp being the contractors with the least, there just isn't that many positions they have that require anything more. |
