Hi Mary, I saw your post concerning employment in Iraq for a postal
clerk. If you are still looking, I have some information regarding
some open positions:
1. ITT-EXELIS - They have mail mission in Kuwait and Qatar.
website: exelisinc.com/careers
keyword=postal
openings are: postal section supervisor in Kuwait
postal clerk in Qatar
if interested in either of these, I have some additional info
on pay, benefits, and application process I can send
2. FLUOR -
website: fluor.com/careers
keyword=mail
openings are: mail services manager 3 positions one in Basra
and two in Baghdad
3. PAE
website: pae.com/career
keyword=postal
opening is: postal manager in Baghdad
4. Baghdad Life Support Services (BLISS) contract SAQMMA-12-R-0130
This is the name of a contract by the Department of State
which is replacing LOGCAP IV in Iraq. It has not been awarded
yet. You can find a description of it on the Department of State
website. Use the SAQMMA-12-R-0130 to find it.
If you are interested in going back to the middle east, one of thesemight help. I am waiting to see what happens with the BLISS contract. The award should be announced any day since it will start
on 1 Jan 2014.

I believe that you know me. I worked in Al Asad at the JMMT. I worked the Mail Call Desk. Older guy, glasses.

Good morning,
I was wondering if I could receive information on how to apply for a position to work in Iraq or Afghanistan as a postal worker. When I deployed to Iraq my gear along with anyone coming in or out had their processions checked, I was wondering what credentials are needed for this job. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Here is some postal hiring information that I know of:
There are 2 companies which have been hiring in the middle east:
PAE and Vectrus.
1. PAE is not currently hiring, but have been as recent as this past
summer. They have the State Department (DOS) mail contract in Iraq.
The biggest obstacle I saw (besides working in a very unstable
country) was they require postal clerks to have a commercial drivers
license. Very few of the many postal clerks I knew in my 3 years in
Iraq had a commercial drivers license.
2. Vectrus has the mail contract in Kuwait and currently have an opening
there. They only work 48 hour weeks and do not have what we called
"uplift' pay which makes a big difference in the total pay. Probably
ends up being about half of what you can make in Iraq.

My suggestion is to check out both websites (PAE.COM AND VECTRUS.COM)
on a regular basis. Prepare a resume and apply when an opening appears
for postal clerk.

I worked at a number of bases in Iraq, but I am sure things are quite
a bit different now since US forces left in 2011. Good luck.

Mike
