sra_jdavis in Greenland said: Barbara, I'm looking into applying for a mail services job with KBR, but currently i am Active Duty AF i'm seperating in 5 months. Should i wait to apply for jobs or go ahead and apply and make sure they know i will not be available until June? also do you know how much a mail clerk makes there in Iraq, i am doing a postal duty tour currently in greenland,so i have the experience Do you think i would be a good candidate?

oh yes you will be a good candidate...
I dont handle those jobs...but i can tell you that i know there are not many - and when we get them they do go fast. I suggest to still apply on line at kbrjobs.com - also keep in mind we get thousands of new resumes every week - get it on now so by then "maybe" a recruiter will contact you.

I think I was told base pay for food service worker, no management is $2000.00 per month. I thought there was someone on the forum a few weeks back that stated truck drivers base was $3000.00.

The break down you did for 3000 is that for all food Service or just someone in a management position.

food service workers base pay is 2000 - truck drivers / entry level HR's base pay is 3000

Well thats interesting, thanks for that. That was a couple of months back when ya"ll were desperate for electricians. Is that true that KBR have met their 1,000 quota for electricians and wont be sending out any more ?

oh we were - we have a better handle on it now - it helped that the pay went up and they had all of us recruiters at one time hiring them - we still need them

The base pay on your contract will be an amount per month without uplifts. They start out at $2000.00 and go up from there based on job offered. So the uplift amount varies base on base salary.

i don't know if my husband got a base pay quote or not; he was told $122,000 a year. he is a journeyman electrician. he did the initial conf call with the recruiter, then the conf call w/ all the details with a group of people, then got an e-mail packet of things to do next. will he get an official job offer (his was verbal)?

also, what is considered overtime? i saw people talking about it...is it anything they work over 84 hours? is that offered a lot?

His base pay is $3,750 and really there is no overtime pay. They get regular pay after 40 hours.

True enough, grandma's are cool like that.

LOL on your gramps -- the body may get old, but the mind and feelings don't -- get my drift???

I haven't had a grandpa since I was a child, they all passed when I was young. So, I was left with real tough gramdma's -- they cut me no slack *smile*

God will smile on you during your journey. I wish the best for you and your family!

I am a spouse, mu hubby is a plumber in Iraq, he is working on his second year there. I learned everything on my own before I knew of this forum. We wasted a lot of money and stress because we knew nothing. I enjoy being able to provide information that will make the transition for employee going to Iraq or their loved ones go more smoothly.

You don't have to do anything but fly back to Iraq at end of contract. Contract is open ended. He would like to come home to stay after July 2009 but only if he can locate work. If not he plans on going back. Hopefully the economy will pick up and he has never had a problem finding a job.

The recruiters normally go over all that with you. Hopefully, your recruiter contacts you with that information.

Good Luck
