We havent seen Journee here in a while and wondered if she was doing o.k.? There are a few people here looking for assistance, so we would value your time. Thank you so much Thank you so much for the warm welcome. :) Journee is fine, I'm sure she will be back online when she can. They do keep us pretty busy over here, but I will try to jump in and answer questions here and there as time allows. |

Voltage in Dawsonville, Georgia said: Do you know the requirments to be a master electrician,is there a mim. years of a Master The requirements for a Master Electrician are tough. One must have had a current, valid Master's license for at least 5 years, in addition to a solid documented verifiable work history at that level including leadership and planning experience. As with the journeyman positions, one must have well-rounded experience in residential, commercial and industrial. They have also been asking for copies of certifications, including completion of an apprenticeship program. Sounds tough, but a recruiter is tasked with gathering all this documentation and submitting it for approval by the management in-theatre. If a candidate is accepted/approved at the Master level, the recruiter may offer the position. If not accepted, the recruiter may offer a position at the journeyman level (if there is one available) if the candidate is interested. A journeyman may then be elevated to the Master level in theatre, but of course there are no guarantees. |

I have a question I hope someone can answer: Suppose I didn't want kbr's health insurance because I have the Army retiree health plan. Do I have to get it? The reason I ask is because I haven't heard of anyone not getting it. Of course I need to get hired first lol. I'm just thinking ahead.

Vanessa, can you tell me if the polo shirts required by KBR are solid only or are stripes okay. And also I know there can be no slogans, but what about brand insignias? Thanks
|
|
Debbie Creery in Gatesville, Texas 40 months ago |
I thought that all employees had to get the medical coverage as it has International health coverage, but it would make sense that military insurance would cover you at any military hospital out of the United States and that would be the place they would take you to. Maybe one of the recriuters could answer that issue for the retired military. Debbie |

Debbie Creery in Gatesville, Texas 40 months ago |
The polos are only required for supervisor and office personnel. But it doesn't matter in regards to solid or stripes. Logos on pockets or shirt are okay. Debbie |
|

so carpenters can wear tshirts? |

It was just weird because my husbands last day at his previous job was 12-31. Our insurance was continued for an additional 30 days as is a usual thing. Apparently our dental was not included in that. The last day of coverage was the same day he quit... So I was really surprised. If I had known, I would've rescheduled, but my son was already half way done... lol.. but hey, he has perfect teeth! Haha. I guess I'll just wait for the cards.. I had to postpone my appointment. Darn. Oh well. No rush. I don't like dentists anyhow.. lol. |

Actually the AETNA international policy is mandatory for the employee regardless of other coverage. I had heard long ago that KBR had been trying to work something out that would allow for employees to use Tricare instead if they wished, but this has never come to fruition. I'm sure there are deep, dark ugly legal ramifications in there somewhere, but I personally do not know what they are. :) |

need advicce, maybe Ms. Henley, or others can help. I failed by background check with KBR. I have a felony. It is from Aug. 2001. Now the background check said to list as far back as only SEVEN years, i put this one done in good faith. Then i was asked by my recruiter to contact Arlene Jackson (kbr), not sure what she does. But all she said was this was what kbr looked for. Now i had finished parole in 2004. So she counted out seven years and said to apply in 2012. But i think Aug. 20001 to Jan. 2009, Thats more than seven years. Is she right to count from date i finished parole. I have seen one post about a guy had a felony 10 yrs. ago , and he went overseas. |

Hey Debb, You seem to be on top of this more then anybody else so is this true. Do they count when your parole ended or when u were convicted like everybody else in the world? Ps ..you need to sleep too sweetheart, your on this thing all the time. God bless U and stay cool. |

From what I remember it stated something about all provisions of court orders complete and a release from the courts. Unforuntely if you have parole or probation I guess they count from the completion of that. This is the first one to post that was still on paper and not cleared for 7 years. It may also have to do with passport issues also. Debbie |

Man , this thing has ben a rollercoaster ride. I go for the wabi test and was told I was going to houston onthe 16 of feb. Just did the background a couple days ago, so i wounder how long it takes for them to respond. Take care JKT |

He is an electrician. The base is small, with no amenaties. He was suppose to have R&R on March 18th but since there is very few electricians they won't let him leave until April 15th. All-in-all he says it o.k., but if it wasn't o.k. he wouldn't tell me any way. He doesn't like me to worry. He says the food is good and he has more room to himself than he did at Sharana. Hope this helps. Paula |

Yes, it is nice to have support from people who understand what you're going through. If you had asked me 6 months ago if I would be here and my husband in a foreign country I would have probably started laughing. Some days will be easier than others. Time will pass quickly and before you know it R&R will be here. The fun part is planning romantic get aways. He says that's the only thing keeping him going. Well, I have to get the kids and grandkids off to bed. Have a restful night. Paula P.S. And LOST is starting... |

And if so, when exactly is it mailed You can have him go down to Finance and get a copy. They should print it out for him on the spot. He can then mail it to you or scan it and email it. KBR employees are supposed to get a copy at the camp without asking. But it all depends on how lazy/laidback your camp is. |

Good point. It might have something to do with the change the way business is done in Iraq which took place on the 1st. Everyone over here had to file for a MOS (?) letter, which I guess is an Iraq work visa. Vannessa Henley in Houston, Texas said: Actually the change has to do with a new cog in the adminstrative machine over in Iraq, an additional step that KBR will have to facilitate for each candidate prior to their deployment into that country. This new process will require that each candidate have a passport on hand prior to their arrival for processing to ensure that they are not delayed in Houston for extra days, possibly weeks. KBR has not yet had to implement this process, and I have just heard through the grapevine that the "cutoff" has been moved from February to some time in March. Keep in touch with your recruiters for the latest details! |

Actually, I like to convey the requirement to my candidates in this way: "if the word 'felony' appears in your background report in the past 7-year window, your background will not pass." The 7-year report must be free of anything involving a felony, not only the conviction but any time served, parole, or probation as well. This is also addressed in the Environmental Assessment in our online application process. I'm sorry there was any misunderstanding on this. |

KBR is the bottom for field workers, supervisors on up get paid fairly well. Just out of curiousity and seeing as you seem to know quite a bit, which companies would you recommend for an electrician. |
