I do know what "zone" I was occupying.I was in the Green Zone, USMI Central, and I was there for 4 years working for KBR.I have never heard of Camp Victory/Liberty being referred to as the Green Zone being that we had to take a 20 minute convoy ride in armored vehicles out into the Red Zone in order to get to Victory, so how Victory could be called the Green Zone is a mystery to me.I'ved emailed some of my old coworkers who are still working in the GREEN ZONE and none of them have heard of Victory being called this either. What company did you work for? |

I was with LSI and now I'll be with KBR. I was statoned at FOB Falcon(red zone) in 2006 while I was in the Army and even then Liberty/BIAP were known as the green zone. The article I pasted above was taken from CNN's website and the Reporter clearly names Liberty/Victory as being in the green zone as well and surely they are more a more credible source than you,sooooo,....ummmm........!!! Have a nice weekend;-) |

You are PERFECT for KBR. So you just scoot right on back over there honey. If KBR is still there when you get there...I'll be surprised. No wonder KBR is in so much trouble! |

kiki78 in Atlanta, Georgia said: www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/iraq/baghdad-green-zone.htm Nice article Kiki78. Thanks. I didn't see liberty or victory in there. And if I had known BIAP was in the Green Zone I wouldn't have bothered with the damn rhino convoys. Go figure. Silly me. |

OOOOhhhh ok, so it was KBR specifically because they are the oooonnnlllyyy contractors who abuse and waste govt. funds!!Well I saw you making negative post on here about KBR constantly and hyping up you're little website, so I pretty much guessed you were on of those people who go on a tirade to "expose" the company they got fired from!lol! Let it go honey, just let it Go;-) |

Kim81, I have been at Camp Victory for over 4 years and I've been through BIAP probably 100 times. Camp Victory and BIAP have NEVER been in the Green Zone. I was here when Camp Liberty was established. I have no intention of getting into this argument you have going on. But, you must be confusing the Green Zone with something else. I think this forum serves a valuable service. It provides future employees with "helpful" information. Your information is not factual and therefore not helpful. KiKi and Sparkys information was quit accurate. |

millied in Raleigh, North Carolina 44 months ago |
yes he called this morning and I am suppose to cal him in the morning. He said they would give him a laptop but as of yet they have not. Some of them there have received one but he has not. I really hope his camp changes. If he could stay where he is that would be better to me. But this camp is a go between. |

switch in Austin, Texas 44 months ago |
well it seems like you never know where they will end up. Being in the mountains he will have a cold winter.I guess just wait until tomorrow to see where they send him, it might not be bad at all. |

Thanks for the encouragement. I know that he is in great hands and they are not KBR's, it is me that is reaching out for a little padding I guess. So far I feel within myself that all things are well.

millied in Raleigh, North Carolina said: No, he is in camp Kandahar. My hubby is at Kandahar. He is an electrician. The camp mmmmm....let me say is unique. It is a coalition base and needs desperate work. Mine has been there for 2 weeks and he is getting a little better with learning the area and people. It takes time for it is a total culture shock to get use to. Things are different there than at a regular US bases, but he is trying real hard for all of us. It is a rough base and they have had lots of rocket fire. Now that Ramadan is over it seems like it has let up some. He said that he actually got 8 hours sleep. They past few days that get rocket fire, but not as bad as prior days, but you never know over there. We talk once a day for about 20 minutes. We encourage each other of why he chose to go overseas, due to unemployment so bad in our home surroundings. What will your hubby do there? Maybe he can get together with other electricans that are there. |

switch in Austin, Texas said: How cold does it get in Baghdad in the winter? Cold enough for jackets or just a sweater? It can get down below freezing at night. I worked nights my first winter and like to froze to death. It can be cold in the mornings and then warms up a bit during the day. The rainy season is horrible. |

mellypryor in Fort Worth, Texas 44 months ago |
My husband is at Kandahar was not suppose to go there but when they stopped, he never left. He says there is alot of Mortal fire and rocket fire....they live in tents, and the Canadians run the camp, so they also prepare the food...which he says is not that great. My husband loves food though) The have telephones w/ Houston lines. 3 of the PX for the guys to shop. A Subway and a Pizza Hut. It is not a US Base. |

yes my hushand loves food also, he will be working in food service. he has told me of the fire. but he sounds good in spirit. I do not know why they kept him there. They are telling him 10 days, he is suppose to go to camp sharana, but I pray not. Its a new kbr camp. The military is cooking for themselves. |
|
millied in Raleigh, North Carolina 44 months ago |
how long has your hubby been there what does he do? |
|
mellypryor in Fort Worth, Texas 44 months ago |
Yea they told my husband the whole no more then 10days also...then the day before I believe they said you will be staying here. He wanted to go to Bagram where he was suppose to go. Oh well....I heard the fire has calmed down in the last week...it was a very often kind of thing at first. Im sure your hubby will be fine, I WAS VERY worried at first but all seemed to work out. Good luck. |
