Koko Wilson in AS, Florida said: Morning everyone,

Patrick, they are still hiring electricians. They are not hiring any more masters right now. ( they have also removed apprentices form the open positions list) If all of your license and certifications are in order they may promote you once you get in country or after you have been there for a while. They appear very rigid about the fact that you have to have been a practicing master for 5 yrs–so make sure you take all the documentation related to you can get your hands on. ( Hubby even took a copy of the results of his experior assessment test for that he had done in 2001) But just pulling a license with a test will not get you the position without documented work experience for five yrs related to. The test is easy. Not sure if hubby said you get 2 hrs or a 1 ½ hrs to complete it. It is not a pass/fail test either, they are just trying to figure out your strengths and weakness so they know better where to put you. You can take your code book with as well as a ugly reference book and a calculator. ( they also give you access to code books on line). Hubby took his code book but left it behind in class so he did not have the weight of in his luggage overseas.

Thanks KoKo for that info!

There is Exams in and Classes in Baghdad Camp Victory/Liberty regarding regulations... they are pass/fail but I haven't heard of any Sparks failing them yet. I wouldn't get you're hopes up on being upgraded to a master... there's loads of British Approved Sparks/Same as a master who are going to Iraq as a Journeyman.

My friend is a JIB Technician, which is the Highest Grade you can get, yet he had to accept a journeyman rate... he's been in Iraq 2 weeks and said there's little chance of being upgraded untill you have done 2 trips... which is 8 months i think. 2x4 month trips

Gabi what has your son heard as far as CAC? Hubby said, had hold over meeting and they read off a list of names for tomorrow--his was not on it but they told em to check back tomorrow afternoon cause they figured to have more appointments posted.

I did a little reading (very little actually) and if I understand correctly NEC standard residentual would be the same as TNC-S in Brit standards. Is that correct or is it back to class for me?

TNC-S is a PME (Protective Multiple Earthing) supply I'm not sure what the NEC standards are, but it is used in domestic situations. You can get several free booklets online which are quite handy explaining all the systems, but there are several systems used in Iraq.

As far as I know there are no flights till about wed or thursday (daughter in law just called). So it's still a waiting game. Ken has been there for just over a week, but there are guys still waiting for wheels up that started with Fred on the 16th of feb. Hope they get out soon.
Love the way you say your "screening" the movie, makes me think long dress and red carpet :-)

HEY KOKO GREAT MOVIE.......IT'S ANOTHER REDHEAD.......MY FAVORITE LINE

"HERE'S A NICE STICK TO BEAT THE BEAT THE YOUNG LADY." AS HE'S DRAGGIN HER HOME.

watch every chance I get, love those movies directed by JOHN FORD. The western set of SHE WORE A YELLOW RIBBON, FORT APACHE,and the last skips my mind are great. I think the greatest cut-up was Victor McGlauglin, he plays Mareen O'hara's brother...hard drinkin, hard fightin, but heart of gold, what a riot. Great in GUNGA DIN with a young Cary Grant & Douglas Fairbanks Jr. You can't go wrong with those movies.

160 wow... that seems very low for KBR... considering their usual turnover, most guys I know usually were there for 7-10 days but the guy I know there now is on day 19 and just been told it'll be Sunday at the earliest before he goes... seems strange

Hi Jordan this is what I was trying to say earlier about the British standards in Iraq... but I was shot down, I'm only saying what I was told. There's nothing major, just in the UK in recent years Earthing has gone over the top.

not so much that what you do is diffrent in grounding. diffrent practices for every job you go on to it seems. what ever the engineer wants he gets. but from what i can see it looks like the neutral is always tied with the earth ground thus making it what we call bonding the neutral. most commonly used at the first point of service. correct me if im wrong

He's not happy as he ain't getting paid. He heard about the Electrical positions drying up, but all the women on the site tonight said they're still recruiting. He's getting Fed up, I've said to him to give it another week, if he doesn't get something I'm going to get him a start offshore with me.

yeah true always bonded were the electric distributer installs their equipment and usually another source electrode, but i honestly don't know what they're doing in iraq it may vary.
