No idea. The poor guys have been traveling almost a whole day now. I think they were at the same hotel, Dave said there was a group of them who had been hanging out together. I do keep busy with my two teenagers and full time job. You sound like your kids are younger that must be hard. Hang in there, if I hear from Dave again I will let you know.

Have you heard anything? They should of got to Baghdad hours ago, i wonder how long it will take to hear from them?

O.K. i just heard from him. They are safe at camp victory. Apparently they have a processing center there where they will stay a few days for training and then on to their allocated camps. He said he was in a connex, 3 of them. He was pleasantly surprised. The camp is very big and has a super PX. He has already had a burger king !! I feel so much better about it all now, lets wait and see where he ends up and what the work is like !!

Ugh...I wish they had overlooked it, no I guess I am glad that they didn't. Rather find out and solve the problem here versus there where it is limited medical care. Hubby was cleared today from physician so paperwork has been faxed. Just waiting for the approval and travel arrangements so he can go back to Houston and then over to Afghanistan. He only has his shots, his PFT and a safety meeting that he wasn't at because of his medical issue. Hopefully it will be a brief trip to Houston. This has been a very long process, he started on 10/5. At any rate, just wondering if anyone else had to go through this and any time frames? I hate to see him go but I would like him to get this rolling so we can move along lol....him too. And who knows what the economy here is going to bring. I start college in the spring for nursing and currently work in the ER. He had better go or I may just start diagnosing him myself :) Seriously, I hope all of the spouses are doing well and those that are left to hold the fort do just as well.

Beth, if anything went super wrong over there the military medical which is top notch would take care of him, if he drops on an Army base they aren't going to ignore him and call an Iraqi ambulance. :) It's dental that's the biggest problem, even for the military it sucks.

Hey, gang. Great site. Very informative. I have talked to a recruiter a half a dozen times over the past month and he is always nice and semi-encouraging but nothing gets me to the next step. He said I'd probably do alright as an ops coordinator or customer service specialist. I know the trouble is I'm not an electrician or skilled worker. I'm just a 50-something guy with management and sales experience who wants a little money and a little international travel. Anybody out there know about these positions? Are they looking for people with a lot of specific experience? Or is it because I'm pushing 60? Is there an age limit?

Usually, during this period, KBR only hires the skilled labor jobs. there is usually a big rush first of January. It was much easier the first time i worked for KBR

KBR employees are not allowed to go to the military dentists. They have to take an LWOP to Kuwait on their own dime. That is the primary reason KBR now requires the dental examination prior to arriving at Houston

That processing center is known as the dreaded BTC (Baghdad Transit Center) No training goes on there. It is okay the first time you are there, but after that, it sucks because you go there first before R & R and then you go back there and usually get stuck there for a few days when you get back from R & R. I always hated it because once you come back from R & R you want to get back to your camp as soon as possible so you can get paid for 12 hours again as opposed to 8

Hello everyone this seems to be a veru helpful web site. I begin my processing on the 17th of November. I am trying to see if there are any other individuals that will be in Houston during this time. By the way I am supposed to be going to BAF, in Afghanistan. (anyone know anything about this location, any female facilities for hair and nails)....? I also wanted to know if anyone can give me a little bit more insight on the medial portion, besides the BP, are they concerned about weight? Do they have a limit or anything like that? I am just extremly nervous about traveling alone, and not knowing anyone. Just let me know guys and gals.

Are you wondering about time frames in Houston? I believe things are moving pretty quickly right now. After the hurricane things were slow for a few weeks but the last group of electricians that processed were in and out in a week!

My husbands training in Iraq was on the BS (Brittish Standard) (but I believe who took tests on the NEC in Houston...weird). I'm sure this will be easier for you then the electricians coming from the states who are used to the NEC. :)

Do not worry at all about weight. They come in all shapes and sizes. I just got back from Houston saying goodbye to hubby. Dont worry about being on your own, you will meet tons of people, i did and im not even going over there ! You will be in a hotel with a lot of KBR people, all new like you. Everyone is real friendly. Dont fret by the end of the week you will have made some firm friends. Keep posting on here and maybe you will meet someone going in on the same date. I met 2 of the people from this site at the processing center. Good luck to you..

No I mean having to go back, as I said all his training is done except for a safety class, his shots and his PFT. I am guessing he won't need to be there for the full 8 days to 2 weeks like the first time processing. He has his passport, took all the other classes, even his NBC training. I guess the question was should we expect him to be there only for a few days and then onto Afghanistan? Sorry I wasn't clear.

Hello Bored !!
Welcome to the forum, just what we need is an insider !!!
I do actually have a question. In regards to money. I heard that you can take a draw once or twice a month. My hubby arrived today in Baghdad. Can he get a draw this month or is it too late to apply? We are kinda short of money this end and it would be sooooo nice if he could send some home. Can you give us the scoop?

Thank you so much switch. I've been reading a lot of your posts, and you've been a great supporter. Thanks again....Your words, are comforting...Trying not to stress too much, trying to keep this blood pressure where it should be! By the way, what was the limit for the blood pressure before theu considered it to be high, do you remember what they may have told your husband?
Thanks again...

Of course the biggest thing that you were sent home for is drugs. Any kind of illegals and painkillers if they find it in your blood and you have no note from the doctors. Aids, Hepatitis and diabetes will disqualify you. I dont know what the blood pressure is meant to be. My husbands glucose turned up high ,so did the cholestrol. They told him to retest and go back the next day. He went back the next day, they said it was fine. They didnt even check his blood again. Go figure on that one !! I think they did the test wrong, hes never had a problem with any of that. YES you must not be late to anything. The bus will pick you up between 4.30am and 5.30am. Tell the hotel to wake you up and take an alarm clock. Be careful to check the boards everyday. My hubby had the day off on friday. They posted that they had to get their CAC cards on that morning. Luckily someone was at the processing center and saw it and called the hotel to let everyone know. If you miss getting the CAC card you have to wait another 72 hours. I dont get it, you get a day off and they do something sneaky like that...

You have to have at least a week of pay behind you to be eligable to make a draw on your pay and they will probably want him to wait till he hits his camp first. He can go ask for an emergency advance and they advance him some pay but i doubt it.
