I got an email from several friends when the cell phones were banned. My base was hit ALL OF THE TIME. It is irresponsible for KBR to ban cells. According to the news stories, the entire initiative was KBR's, not the military's. Once again proving that the safety of the employees is LAST. KBR = Kill em Bag em Replace em |

Good morning. I was just wondering if anyone else got the word on KBR contract? My husband is in South Afghanistan and KBR lost the South to Fluor. They will begin bringing in their ppl in the next month to the camp he is at which is Cobra. So I am wondering about the North, does anyone know if they lost that part or got to keep it? I am REALLY hoping that they keep that part then at least they can send some of these guys there. However of cource they won't be able to keep them all. |

RVES in Scarborough, United Kingdom said: thanks for the reply kev, that does mean the basic report is the passport everone goes on about,i sent for mine over a week ago so thats ongoing.they posted a vacancy for another electrician the other day and i have applied for it, just waiting to see if they contact me.i have also sent an email to kbr with a question regarding the medical and the hearing test because i think that might be the only thing that might let me down as i have had a mastoid operation on my right ear and im worried that might count me out straight away. rves the passport thing they all go on about is an actual american passport! i dont think alot of americans have passports to start with they dont really need them unless they wanna come over the pond to europe! and who wants to come to europe when u got cancun mexico, the caribean and so on on your door step haha i certainly wouldnt lol! kbr used to sort out there passports for them at houston please correct me if im wrong?? but i dont think they do now so there telling them to sort out there passports before they hit houston! il ask my recruiter about your condition if you want she usually replys quite fast just to save you wasting your time incase it is a no go! il ask her if they are looking for more sparks as well! and let u know! once you apply on the site i think it takes about at least a week for a recruiter to get back to you as far as i know! if you post your email address on here il pass it on to my recruiter for you if you want and you can give her your cv directly thats how we went about it! my friend gave me her email address so went through the process really quick instead of waitin about for the call! its up to you mate kev |

Melly I have heard that one contractor can no longer have the whole of a country anymore–all part of a the new system of checks and balances. So if they got the south seems likely KBR–or someone else will get the north. It interesting cause Fluor does seem to have a lot of posts for positions for management level contractors. But with all the job seekers coming on board here seems odd we have not heard any word from anyone getting hire by. Maybe this has to do with the 'moving them in in a mth' and we'll start hearing more in the wks to come. |

My husband said they just got the e-mail yesterday from Bagram saying they needed to get all paper work in order and supplies etc so that the new contractor could move in soon. I sure hope alot of ppl do not loose their jobs. Don't it make since to you that even if KBR looses alot or all that the knew company would pick up the ppl that are already in country? Im just a worry wart!lol |

Im just a worry wart!lol Melly this is what we have been hearing. That if another company moves in the reg joes and joettes will have the option of working under a different flag---or move elsewhere if KBR needs them. Seems likely these other companies will pick up employees already over there--if they feel they are qualified for the job. I think the ones most likely to be at risk are the managers and supervisors, because most companies always bring in their own lead dogs --so to speak. I think the larger question for all of us will be the specifics of the contract--our guys and gals over there get if they go to work under another's flag. |

Im just a worry wart!lol It makes perfect sense that they will use the workforce that is already in place. Imagine how much money they will save by doing so. Considering how hard the media and congress has come down on KBR for wasting money, I am sure the new contracting companies will be looking for ways to keep their noses clean. They are going to want these transitions to go as smoothly as possible and changing as little as possible is the best way to ensure a smooth transition. I really think you are worrying for nothing. |

Honestly it just seems unreasonable–any notion that they can bring in a whole new workforce and not interrupt services. So its more a question of the logistics of keeping the wheels turning, which no ifs, ands or buts, they have to do. |

I printed up colleges of, with like living accomidation examples scenes of the desert and anything that was particular to the camp(s) he was at and iraq --put them on colorful backings and then slipped then into clear slicks and tacked them in a cluster to a wall off my kitchen. I added blown up photos his instructors emailed--a schedule the time differences, a map etc-- Looks really neat. The kids decided it was a wall of tribute. that's so nice...i bet the kids love it!! |

Koko Wilson in Fran's wife, Florida said: Tony’s girl, the airlines are very specific about how you transport these items–as well as extra batteries for–cause Lithium batteries can explode in high altitudes. I agree with Andrea, in that I think these items are best stowed in carry on. You can find rules related to the regs on online. Alkaline and nickel batteries–nearly all of the non–rechargeables batteries unusually are fine with little or no airline restrictions on. Its the rechargeable ones they have issues with. thanks KoKo, I travel alot for business and have carried all three items as carry-ons, but not sure about international flights to war zones. Again thanks |

JZ, I was just skimming the jobs on KBR, old habit die hard I suppose. There's a concrete finisher position listed. Since there is not one recruiter for each type of job so that may be listed for another recruiter. Someone else in construction ended up going over for that position. If you have't applied yet, might be worth it. Just a thought. |

Again thanks I used to travel a lot myself hon, but only been on a couple of flights in the last couple of yrs–and I tell you regs just keep changing. When I traveled with a laptop, I always carried it as a carry on. Through check points I removed it from the bag and slipped it on top of the bag and both items into one of those gray trays. On the planes of course they tell you to turn off your cell. Anyrate I hate air travel these days cause I got spoiled back in the days we did not have to deal or worry about such matters. And I tell ya I am always one of the unlucky one that gets pulled aside–I honestly do not know why, I look like the most unlikely of terrorists. Kind of ticks me off cause I figure they know this so I am easy go over. Also I am sure to assure they are not profiling! I was wondering myself what customs–getting through-- was like over in Dubia? |

Ok guys and gals, Tmagana will be leaving Sunday for Tx. Got his travel plans for the wrong date, but they are correcting. We have such a large large family, that we really have not spent anytime getting ready. We are not procrastinators, just tackling one problem at a time. Now the pressure is on.
