They take you to the Wyndham, or rather the Hilton as it is called now. From there they pretty much guide you through the process. |

Actually I did 2 and a half years 05-07 I have been home since march 07. I recently decided to head back over to Iraq. They hired me back at my same camp doing the same job |

Debbie Creery in Gatesville, Texas said: Your living accomadations will get much worse then the hotels you are currently staying. If you get luck you may get a metal container that is the size of a large walk in closet with two people living in it. Bathrooms and showers will be located within walking distance. Many will end up in tents with 30-40 people and no privacy or a bunk house. You will get use to the hardships fast or you will go home because it will not get better. Debbie, it is truly not like that at every camp. I don't know where your husband is but at Anaconda, we had bathrooms inside of our hooch. I shared a container with another guy but our rooms were separated by the bathroom that we shared. It was much like a dorm room in college |

I have heard that the sleepng arrangements are better at some camps then others. My husband was told he was going to Anaconda by the recruiter, but when he got to Baghdad he was sent to Camp Delta, G3 site. He shared a single container, no bathroom, for some time then he finally got his own space only to be moved to Camp Echo, G6 site and place in a tent, then a container with bathroom and a roomate. After 17 months he is finally in a container with a bathroom by himself. But billeting came by and but another bed in the container and stated be was going to be doubled up again. Hope you get to Anaconda. Debbie |

I forgot to mention that when my hubby checked in to go to Houston they charged $15 luggage handling. When you get to the processing center you can claim it back. Sign a form and they will send you it back. |

Does anyone know the difference in the pay between a Journeyman and a General Foreman? In our state we get a Electrical Contractors License, which is just like a Masters, but until he got to where he was going they did not comprehend that. So he was hired as a Journeyman and now that he is where he is going to be staying they are making him a General Foreman, along with one other that was in the same situation. I am just curious because it seems he would be responisible for a little more than the Journeyman postion, therefore more pay or just do the Journeymans job, right? |
|
Debbie Creery in Gatesville, Texas 43 months ago |
I beleive the base pay for a Master is $5000.00. But along with that is the resposibility for all the paperwork and butt chewing when your camp doesn't pass insepections. My spouse is a Master plumber but has no interest in a foremans job as the materials they receive are garbage. They also never have enough to work with and they are told daily just get the job done. Maybe since they are getting real electricians on these camps the problems can be resolved but they will need to start all over with every electricial fixture and connection. Some of the camps are worse then others because of the exsisting work that was there when the war started and the unsunstandard work done since. |

Cool Jay, what was it like your first 2 years? This is my first year. I am excited about making the money but kinda wondering about the other stuff. Thinking about the opportunity to make this kind of money makes the other stuff less difficult. |

I was told the pay for a journeyman is about 122k yr.and master 156k yr. I believe master electrician are hired as journeyman and moved up to foreman position if needed. |

My hubby just called from Camp Victory where he is doing his 7 day electrical training. Seems they are studying about British code, interesting. He also told me what he had for dinner. Ribeye steak, king crab legs, spanish rice and cheesecake. So all you guys stopping at Camp Victory Lucky You !! His new pants dont even fit him any more. I think they are fattening you all up before they get you to your real camps !! |

KBRs food is good. Yes there is a Salad section with all kinds of dressings...chef will have an inhouse too. Ofcourse there is also the Pastry section..Pekan Pie, Sweet potatoe pie...I mean if you dont exercise one will get fat. I did 7 months in a DFAC, night shift. |

People with a skill in short supply are recruited one on one. If you have any questions call the recruiter directly. You won't get your flight schedule until a few or two days before you leave. |
