Kbr is kinda vauge on this. dont think there is anything special about taking it on carryon for the airlines although I havent flown commercial in 10 years. I hate commercial thats why I got my pilots license. my hubby has a camera over there, but i mailed it to him. |

cameras/camcorders all depend on which camp you are assigned to, doesn't matter as far as airlines go. best just to have one shipped to you when you get to your base. |

kevsatim in United Kingdom said: tr7 Ive had my return flight itinerary since I left Houston last week. As for the "hold" guys, I would be trying to call the recruiter, or HR Travel today. The return flights are ranging from Sunday through Tuesday though. Since this is not for processing, but for actual deployment. If you havent signed contracts, or have loose ends, then I would guess they would try and get you in on Sunday evening. |

I hate commercial thats why I got my pilots license. You can fly commercial with any form of personal camera... video, or still frame. However, they will count a larger video camera as your carry on bag. If it fits inside of your carry on, then there is no problem. You may have to take it out and have it x-rayed seperately like a laptop. The only sites right now that have restrictions against cameras, are B-sites. USMI sites are likely to be opposed to the camera as well (would need to ask). Most PX's sell camcorders anyway, and a variety of digital cameras are availible at the PX and the Iraqi Markets too. Even at the B-sites. (restrictions are only against civilians) At any other site, American civilians may have cameras and cell phones. But only for those civilians who have a white or green CAC Card (US Passport Holders) |

Doing okay here. Just been very busy with both grandsons playing baseball and practice. Greg has 62 days till end of contract and we are working towards this adventure being over. He is planning on staying home after R&R. They heard today that 126 jobs are going to be eliminated on his camp. They are also confirming licensing in trades and drivers licenses. Guess that will be the first one to go if they don't have the documents required. Hope everyone is doing okay and awaiting R&R's. Hugs

just reading through some of my info packets and it says that cell phones are a recommendation to bring. i guess it was just kbr policy not to have one. seems a little strange to me. also boots and coveralls will be provided. but supply is limited, may not have size available. hope the cell phone thing has no restricitons because may want to look into an international plan. |

Yeah idiots at KBR finally lifted that Cell phone ban. its always cheaper to buy a cellphone and put a sim card in from the country you are in instead of an international plan |

Guess that will be the first one to go if they don't have the documents required. He needs to at least make the flight back, after the EOC R&R. Then demob. Saves a lot of BS down the road. If he doesnt return from the EOC, or Demob prior to it, then they will retro-cancel the insurance... instead of continued coverage through the end of the month. Meaning that the coverage stops, the day he left theatre. They will not want to reimburse the air fare for the Travel right away ( at least not without going through dispute resolution ) He will also be given a seperation code of "job abandonment" which makes him inelligible for re-hire. I went through the same BS the first time I demobed. Always go through the out-processing procedures. C.Y.A. ! I didnt have intentions of returning to Iraq either... but things change... and it took over a year to straighten out the mess I made by not out-processing. |

OnePass Members: Will continue to earn OnePass miles on Delta Air Lines and Northwest Airlines for all qualifying flights through Oct. 24, 2009. Yes you can put it on your continental pass, but i think they are changing things after October. |

Maybe you could call the airline? It would probably be better to upgrade to buisiness class. Not much posted on here about what we can do with our miles and how much we need. Maybe an experienced traveller will come on later and give us some insight. |

KBR buys T class tix which means you cant upgrade them. Only way to get business class is to request that on your R&R form |

i just called continental there, they said once i complete my flight to texas i will be eligible for up grade, and i will be able to use it when i fly from houston to dubai so i think i will keep it for then as its a 14 hour flight i think as long as there is space in business class it wont be a problem |
