Don't now what is going on at Camp Speicher, but I know my hubby attended an all hands meeting yesterday at his camp and they were told there were going to be some jobs elimanated and some people moved around to other areas. All new construction projects that were staffed to start have been eliminated and as they were contract for those jobs only there they will be going home. So I would guess that is being stated at all camps. Most of this is due to camp troop draw down, as the troops start leaving they don't require as many contractors to get the job done. Debbie |

He said yesterday that they were moving some Bosnians to other depts. I wonder what other contractors are at Speicher? I will grill him when he calls this morning. I had heard that Fluor might be getting all of Afghanistan but thats just a rumor.I think the next few weeks will be an eye opener. |

Morning everyone, Debbie, that sounds as if they are talking in terms of more than 5% a quarter? Switch, I am hearing the same rumors as far as "more will be reveal later". I think this next 3 wks-month is going to reveal a lot. Have also heard rumors that Fluor is/was taking over Anaconda. But so many out there, it becomes a matter of what to beleive? No insult intended, but aren’t the Bosnians like KBR favorite step child–since some of them have been there with them since Croasia and Kosova, seems odd that they are being transferred . . . at the very least makes you ponder. . . ? |

tstorm in Plan said: The thing you have to consider when you apply for multiple jobs is what does your resume say to include all of them? The key is they use computers to scan for key words. You must include everything from the job post from the skills required and job requirements, pretty much verbatem. The more key words picked up the more likely uwill get a cal. On a side note some of those positions might be filled by FN's. I think most of the jobs I applied for were given to FN. I included all the key words from the job application and put it in my resume. |

Ive emailed all the recruiters for kbr, dynacorp, and csakuwait. Do you know any contacts for ittsystems and iap? |

Good morning all. Hope the weather is better for you guy's then it is here in Fort Worth, all the rain and thunderstorms makes me crazy. AND it's Monday...grrrr Anyhow, I have a question and hope someone know's. My husband was offered a Foreman position at a camp called (and maybe I won't spell it right) "Farraw" spelling it like it sounds. Anyhow, he is at a FOB base and loves it there don't want to give up the good just to be called a "foreman" (means nothting to him) Especially after being at KAF, HE HATED it there. So don't want to end up at a camp like that....so hope someone knows something. Thanks... |

He does such a great job for his boss that she is trying to do everything she can to keep him there. He is valuable to her because he can do anything she asks him to and will. He is working all the time instead of sitting on his butt doing nothing like a lot of those people do . In other words he does not need a babysitter :) |

Hope that everybodys licenses are up to date and dont need to be renewed. Apparently everyone had to fill in paperwork this morning with all the details on when they expire. Guess they are starting to weed people out. |

On their website they have quite a few openings. They want about 10 electricians. I wonder what they are offering? Is that a good company to work for? |
|
Koko Wilson in Florida 37 months ago |
Switch, just talked to hubby and he said they ask for copies of license at his camp too. Hubby is current until Dec/ 2010 so we are ok. Gary from what hubby said, there was talk of there still being a need for a few more Journeymen. I imagine they may shift some of them if they are closing camps down though. Also I do not know how much job security there will be in the coming mths given all the rumors--but seems as if there is work enough to keep everyone busy for now. |

They have DCMA coming thru looking at time sheets and drivers licenses. those are the 2 areas where for whatever reason they always find write ups. |

Patrick, is this the company that requires security clearance? Do all companies working for the DOD require security clearance? KBR just does a background check, correct? |

Koko Wilson in Florida said: Patrick, is this the company that requires security clearance? Do all companies working for the DOD require security clearance? KBR just does a background check, correct? From what I understand, not all positions require security clearance. They contacted me for a master electrician job that apparently does require it. That job was not advertized online. The jouneyman jobs listed on their site don't mention clearance requirements... It seems that it is more important to be in the database with a resume that has the right keywords. Even more important than which job you apply for. That's how they found me. Recruiter told me Fri that she would call me back today... still waiting; But I will be calling her soon if she doesn't call me first! |

switch in Austin, Texas said: Whats a KBR license? They asked to see his electrical journeymans license. It was electrical licensing they were asking for at the camp hubby is at too. But hubby also mentioned something to the effect that they have to keep current copies of on file in case they are audited. Hubby just arrived at the camp he is at now for a 6 to 8 week stint. So I guess I am wondering if this is not more so relating to them making sure i’s are dotted and t’s are crossed–getting house in order. |
