switch in Austin, Texas said: Im not sure its about having his favorite tools, its about lack of tools out there !! WOW!
I know the feeling though..... once blew a hose on a machine, they got me a replacement hose, but I only had a pair of broken handled pliers and a Dime to use as a screw driver to replace it with.... and too far from home to go grab my own tools... got the job done though, but what a PITA that was! |

You probably better get use to the no tools. They expect you to work with some basic tools but no speciality tools of the trade. I sent my spouse some of his tools to get the job done but most have been stolen so don't leave them unattend even for a minute. He left his cap in the chow hall table and realized it as soon as he exited bldg, went back to get it and it was gone. Second day in Iraq he left his towel on the counter in the shower unit. When he reached out to get his towel, no towel. Not everyone there has a support group at home to mail them things so they just steal what they need. Good Luck. Debbie |

The tool issue was so bad they finally issued each plumber his own tool bag with screwdrivers, etc. But no hammer.LOL. I guess they gotta call a carpentry if they need a hammer. My spouse has been changing water heaters out for years and has always rewired the darn things back up. But not in Iraq they have to call an electrician for any water heater change out. I guess it pays them more money with two work orders instead of one. KBR way. Debbie |

I guess I will just have to wait and see, because it might change anyway. Just curious what I'm walking into. Time will tell....LOL |

My hubby just got word from his recruiter and said that he would be at Camp Victory..but who knows...you guys have all mentioned that there is no 'for sure' and that things change but at least we are moving forward now... Now I have to go back and read up on all the comments about Camp Victory...any new news would be appreciated |

I think they tell a lot of people Victory because that is where they do their training. |

Is he going in as a journeyman? He will fly to Dubai, he can get a phone card there and call you. He will then go to Camp Victory for one week training, mandatory for all electricians. They have plenty of phones there. My hubby has been calling once, sometimes twice a day. He will get his assignment at the end of that week. |

When I was over there in 2004 to 2005, the uplift was only 55%. I am headed back and will be in Houston for processing on the 7th. Sir, I see you have worked for kbr before. I have a lot of questions about kbr and the jobs in Iraq. Also ??? about processing in Huston. Please help!! You can call me if you want...would be much easier for me. Or I could call you. Thanks so much!! Erich Spielmaker.... Will be in Huston Dec. 8th |

My boyfriend will be there in a few days. Hello,i'm at Speicher C1 right now and it is a huge airbase, and yes, I wouldn't say "safe" because there's really no such thing over here, but as far as incoming rounds, nothing has happened here in a very long time, knock on wood :) |

Morning everyone, Yesterday was a very successful day as far as getting ducks in a row. Dh was offered a state inspector job from our former home state while we were getting all of our paperwork in order. No, he not going to take it, he wants this overseas adventure--so to speak--but he was well pleased to have the offer. I had heard about the tools being an issue–as well as items that are not nailed down so to speak. But if you do your research you will understand why it is such a problem over there. Both countries are populated by either have or have nots, guess best assets for you all going over there is going to be patience and tolerance and a cautious guard. Switch did you get a chance to try out the flickx web site? I will be very surprised if there are not at least a few photos of all the various camps. Of course most of the photos will be from the larger camps. But they will give you a general idea of the living conditions, people, elements-weather and cultures. Hi candybear my dh is a master electrician too. The food should improve for your hubby once he gets overseas. Seems like the food in Houston is the applicants first test of endurance. Niece706 and redbutterafly, have been following your progresses in Houston through the threads. Hope all is going well for you both. I heard there we going to fly some of them out today–God speed to them. Whats the numbers like down there in Houston? Dh’s recruiter mentioned Dec 15th for his flight to Houston. |

I am alittle nervous bout mine. I am not 150/84 but I am in the 130-140/84-90. Do you mean fasting makes the BP reading high? I would think fasting would lower BP. I guess I need to stop worrying. |

The transition to LOGCAP 4 is starting. Kuwait first and Afghanistan is supposed to be next. KBR has lost their contract in Kuwait and will start to transition out of Kuwait and DynCorp will take over. This is supposed to be completed within the next 100 days. mssparky.com/2008/11/kbr-loses-kuwait-to-dyncorp/ Ms Sparky |

Most hire more TCN's or locals. Thats why the beneficial economic impact of these wars are mmuch less than the Vietnam War....money goes out...but doesnt come in. |

But I will add the treadmill when I go to gym. I most def will eliminate the salt cause most foods already have sodium/salt in them. The vinegar and water is new, but I have heard of drinking apple cider vinegar. I will also try the vinegar. I;ll keep you posted on the results in a few days. Thanks. again. |

This looks like a jon placement service. On bottom of one of the pages it says a sub company of Manpower, Inc, which look to place persons in jobs that companies post to them. There is usually a fee if employment is offered. You don't need this to get a job in Iraq. As far as I've heard most of the companies in Iraq direct hire their employees and there are no fees involved. Hope this helps. Debbie |
