I know we all have our agendas and game plans and it really can hurt someone to be cut off in the middle, or beginning of our plans. We are hoping for 3 years, with KBR or whoever, and to cut us off right now would be devastating. We'd make it but this job helps it make it so much easier for now.

they cant just bring them over from iraq, those people in iraq have to go on to the internal job posting print it out and apply just like a new hire. Thats how the process works

I am feeling better Mona–on antibiotics for over 24 hrs and seems to be helping–thanks for asking. Ok, spoke with hubby, and apparently that advice to his British electric friend to pack up–just in case- came by way of the official pipeline as he was going through his RR debriefing. That said, it was also mentioned they were not sure if electricians were going to be counted in the count as yet. An earlier blue boarder email that got made public mentioned the 5% a quarter that does equal about 5000, so seems like this is just the beginning. Mona is Paul’s job safe?

I am also hoping the guys that left for Houston this weekend to start processing today do not get turned back.

Not sure if this is related but there was news of two contractors being killed last weekend--they were in the green zone I beleive. Different incidents. At least one of them had worked over there for 6 yrs. I think he left KBR to start his own company.

Koko Wilson in Florida said: Leanne, this seems to tie in with email I got from hubby. A friend of his ( British Electrician) set to go on RR end if this week got a email advising him to pack up all of this stuff just in case there was no job for him when he returned from RR so they could ship his stuff to him. I am waiting on confirmation if this was just--a just in case heads up email from a friend promoting the rumors of or if this was a official KBR business email. So are they saying then they will know by June 3rd–this list. Your son was told to call three days before he is to return? O I hope he gets call back. T was right, at least when they were letting em come back to Dubai or Kuwait they were paying them for their full Rrs.

yup letter came to my husband he is acting supervisor since his supervisor left to work for another company just said including managers they will know WED June 3 my husband said what they will do is call and say meet in such and such area for the meeting.son in law was told to call 3 days before his flight back to see if he still has a flight back so he will know June 8 STRESS

Actually there are a few from my husbands camp that are transferring from Baghdad to Afgh. If there is an open position and/or it is mission critical people can transfer. They do not have to reapply as a new hire. It is basically a job posting that they bid for. However, right now KBR does NOT have any job postings. So these positions are being filled because they are considered mission critical.

My husband was told he could transfer to Afgh if he wanted to. He said Baghdad is a luxury resort compared to Afgh. It has been a great opportunity, but with so many things changing out there...now is a good time for him to come home. I certainly wish the best for all the rest of you with loved ones over there.

When my husband originally went, we were trying to dig our way out of a failed business. The money has been a real blessing. But being without him and realizing the real danger he is in at times has made me realize the "It is not the things in the house we should value, but the people".

The media here does not publish the real accounts of the day to day tragedies that go on over there. Our acting government would prefer us to all belive the war is not real and not worth fighting. It is not in their agenda to have it look like the troops are actually fighting a real group of criminals over there. And don't forget that after these animals cut the throats of innocent workers, we wouldn't want to do anything like "torture" to find out what group of the taliban they are working for.....

I'm just saying....

So he in the Baghdad area--seems as if there is a lot going on Anaconda way too. And thanks--I am feeling better--just caught DIL and the baby's cold but my lungs are bad so it always hits me hard. Least wise I no longer feel as if I going to die--and or am no longer open to the idea of.=) Fingers crossed that it works out for both your hubby and son.

the only way you can transition like that is if the job you are currently in is being taken over by another contractor. Just like all the kbr people in kuwait were allowed to transfer to iraq/afgan without having to apply because their jobs were going to dyn corp or someone else. it is illegal for them to just transfer someone without competiton. only people working can see the internal posts.

I have no right to weigh-in on this..my brother and his buddy aren't even over there yet. But I just had to say..I'm praying for all the men and women working overseas for KBR. It's so important for them to keep their minds on their jobs and their wits about them in order to stay safe...this uncertainty sure doesn't help.. It's confusing to me that my brother was told he will go to Houston for a class July 6th..sounds as if KBR is over-staffed so I don't understand why they would go to the expense of sending home folks who are ALL READY TRAINED and bring over newbies..
I've bitten my nails down to the nubs and I don't have a pesonal investment yet.

I think that goes without saying, so many getting paid less than what they are worth. They (KBR) seem to be getting by with it.

I don't understand some things though like for instance I wanted to keep our company up and semi-running but without the guy with the lisence there, couldnt send the journeyman out to do any work, legally. So my thing is how are they sending men to these camps, hired and classed as a journeyman without any supervision from a HIRED and PAID LICENSED ELECTRICIAN. I dont call long distance telephone calls from any supervisor the same thing, otherwise I could have kept our business going but didnt want to take that chance with my hubbys license.

T-storm- I am so ready to go to Ireland, leaving the 26th, any advice on where and where not to go. Anything that we must see?? Best thing you enjoyed?
We are renting a cottage so we can take day trips if we choose and kick back when we want to. I think it has sunk in that we really are going and now I just need to know what and where to go.

Hi everyone, I hope that all of your husbands and relatives who work for KBR survive the cuts...

As an update on me, I managed to pass Stanley's background and waiting on visa/security stuff for the Iraq job. As for my other offers: I have two more govie interivews in addition to having a poly, U/A, security interview for the 3rd agency...

So, perhaps one of these positions will come through for me at some point. Hurry up and wait.....

I wish the best for all of you and those who are processing. Good luck to you!

Hi everyone, just found this site! My husband flew to Houston from Belfast yesterday, he is an Electrician and will be in Iraq. I'm so concerned about his safety over there, I have stupidly been on the web last night and today and have found so many negative comments about KBR. Are they ok to work for or is it all just the usual rumours? Also, how long will my husband be in Houston for and when he does get to Iraq will he be able to contact us by phone? He has worked away from home for a couple of years but it's always been in England so communicating was never a problem. We have a daughter who's nearly 3 and she love to talk to her daddy every day (as do I). A few of his ex work colleagues are out in Iraq at the minute and seem to love it!
Sorry to rant on but just need some reassurance!
