Too late we learned that this- Florida is more a place to spend your money than make your money--at least for many. I do love it though regardless--no better place to be "broke" in, eh? We usually make it Daytona way once in a while.

hardy3742 in Edgewater, Florida said: Yes, he was a t Kandahar and will more than likely be going back around there. My husband is a man of his word also, but the pressure from upper management was too much and the micro-managing that was going on, plus not able to get materials was just too much. The biggest factor was that he took a higher position and was never paid for it. They kepttelling him that it would be retro back to November. They kept jerking him along and that was it. He is working on the pay part, for he has all the emails and paperwork that verifies the pay for the position. Do you need a recruiter's name at Fluor...It might be good if you have your hubby email them with his resume. Keep at it, that is what hubby did. He was always emailing them.

Do you have a recruiters name that you could give out? I would never tell where it came from! Promise.

I loved it when I worked in Saudi in the very early 80's and KKMC was still a secret. It took us hours to get into KKMC after making the journey up there. It took us even longer to get off the base!! We had letters from the Crown Prince that is not the King. Loved working over there.

Hey Hazel my sister worked over in Saudi in the 80's as well at King Fahd hospital, where were you?

Barbara Gallagher in Houston, Texas said: contracts, allegations the company denies.

Under a new Pentagon contract, known as known as Logistics Civil Augmentation Program (Logcap) IV, KBR is competing for the same troop-support work with two other companies, Irving-based Fluor Corp. and Falls Church, Va.-based DynCorp International.

No new packages, so far
So far, only a few packages of work have been awarded under Logcap IV, the biggest in Kuwait, and none have gone to KBR. All the companies are waiting for word on larger work awards in Afghanistan and Iraq. KBR, meanwhile, is getter far fewer applications than it once did, partly because it doesn’t have as many jobs to fill, said Dan Kent, project manager of KBR’s consolidated support center, run out of a vacated department store at Greenspoint Mall.
At the height of the war effort, KBR received some 12,000 applications a month, Kent said. Now, “I’m guessing it’s a couple of hundred.” Last week, several KBR recruits said hard economic realities in the U.S. had spurred them to seek potentially life-threatening—but well-paying—contractor jobs in the Middle East.
“I’m a crane operator, and things are pretty tough right now,” said Rick Choate, 53, of LaPorte, who is preparing for his second tour with KBR in Iraq. Leroy Calkins, a refrigeration specialist from Victorville, Calif., is also back for a second assignment with KBR and said his motivation has changed from the last time he went to Iraq in 2007. “I support the troops and everybody over there. I went over the first time for that reason,” said Calkins, 50. “But the economy the way it is, it’s not working out real well, so I’m going back over there again. It’s more economical than anything else.”

Thank you, Barbara, for this report. I do pray that things start looking up for our workers and the company. If not for KBR, we would have lost everything and I very thankful my husband had the opportunity for the job he has.

I worked for the Corp of Engineers, my husband was the liasion officer between the US and SANG forces and he bought all the military equipment that SANG used. Not bragging but he was the ranking American military officer there. All of us wives worked back then, if we didn't have small children at home. I loved our villa! We lived on the SANG compound. Did your sister ever tell you about the ferris wheel parking thingy near the airport? I have only met one person that knew about that. I loved bartering for clothing to work in, long, with long sleeves!!

Hello!! Oh, it was sooooo wonderful!! It was so nice to spend quiet, relaxing time just reconnecting with my sweetheart! It gave us a taste of what it will be like when all the kids are grown and out of the house. :) It was very hard to walk away from him at the airport...even harder than it was when I first dropped him off at the airport. I guess because now I know how hard it is without him.

I hope those 44 days fly by for you!

I.D. , Social security card ( the original ) copy of birth certificate, doctors prescription paper ( if any ), shot records, passport, that should be it besides all the obvious papers they make you get taken care of like dental xrays and things like that.

My husband was in Houston last week for processing (he's an electrician), he had to take his police report/security clearance form, bank details, voided cheque, copies of his certificates, passport and they also needed a dental form but he was told he didn't need this. If you do get a job offer they will send you a recruitment pack which has about 30 pages, this will give all the information about what to bring with you for processing and also for Iraq. There is a girl from KBR that comes onto this forum called Barbara Gallagher, you could contact her via this forum, i think she deals with the recruitment of truck drivers and she is very helpful!
Good luck! Emma

I have not posted on here in the past few weeks, but I have been keeping up on the forum. I was hoping that the wonderful people of the forum might be able to help me. I was in line for a management position with KBR back in April, but the position got canceled before we got too far along. If anyone has been or is in a position in the Middle East for contract administration, project controls/management, procurement, management role, HR, or estimating and would be willing to correspond with me and help me restructure my resume to hit on a position please email me at kurly75@gmail.com. I would like to thank all of those on the forum for their kindness in the past and for their help on this in the future.

If I read this correctly , interviews are done over the phone (mine was) and going to Houston is one or is the last step to going overseas. Logcaptalk.com has a nice list of prep stuff.
