Mrs Spark in Belfast, United Kingdom said: Hi, just heard from hubbie and he seems alot happier thank god. He's still in Baghdad at classes but he met a friend of his yesterday that is on his way home on his 1st R&R so think that cheered him up a bit. Think he's a foreman in a camp in Southern Iraq so he was hoping he could maybe get him down there with him.
When will he find out when his 1st R&R date is, our daughter is 3 in October and our wedding anniversary is also in October. He flew out to Houston on 31st May and arrived in Iraq on 9th June. Is the 4 months from when you arrive in Baghdad or is it took from when you are assigned to your camp?

Emma, I am not sure how the R&R works. My husband was there for over 6 months when he got to come home, and will be 6 monts again, when he comes back at end of contract. I think it also depends on the percentage of people away from job site. Now, if it was military - just ask away - I am retired from federal and worked with military and husband has 25 years, so know it pretty well!! LOLOLOL

T, I need your help with something! I have some soldiers that are at a place where they have very little. They are at a place called COP Mead! Never heard of it and APO # is very unfamiliar! Help me if you can, so I can find out something about the area before writing and sending packages. Just got contact today. They are all very unhappy with where they are is all I was told, and that they have nothing - so you can imagine that I picture them sitting out on the desert with absolutely NOTHING!!!!!

Hi emma, it should be 120 days from when he got to Iraq, thats how it works for my other half. He is able to come home for his R&R round about the 6th Sept, but is choosing to stay till Oct!!!! So things must be ok over there for him lol

Hi Hazel, I hope he's not away for 6 months, 4 months is bad enough! It's only been 2 weeks and seems like a lifetime already. It's strange, i'm so used to him being away but he always had a rough date of when he was back and it was never more that 4 weeks so think it's the fact that we don't have a date and that i just can't pick up the phone to him. When he was in England we spoke about 2-3 times a day. I don't know how you coped for 5 days not talking to your husband!

Emma, it is very hard, mostly because my husband has had a heart attack before. I always worry about that even though I know he is much healthier than I am. He doesn't know about my illness. Don't want him to know. He would just worry, and maybe have another attack.

NO, Emma, we don't foster. We took this pitiful little child in and turned her into a princess. Her mom just doesn't want to care for children, just have fun making them. This little girl is number 3 and she doesn't have either of them, but comes and drags our little one away when she wants her for a day. I say drags because she is always crying and not wanting to go.

That's awful, i know i have really bad days with my daughter but i can't imagine ever leaving her, it's so sad to hear about things like that when there is so may people out there who would love to have children but can't. How long has your husband been out there for? I'm hoping that 4 months will do Gordon and then he'll get a job either here or in England! I really don't want him to be away over Christmas

Hi all, I have complete all my paper work (recruitment pack, dentist form, police disclosure etc) and emailed copys to my recruiter.
Im jus wondering when I will here back to see if everything is ok.
I got a call last week before I had recieved or sent anything but missed it.My recruiter left a voicemail asking for my trade papers and told me he would call back but hasnt yet. He has emailed my twice with the recruitment pack, dentist forms etc. There hasnt been any contact after that, is this the norm ? I spoke to a guy from the forum who is set to fly out to Texas same day as me he has had a conference call but hasnt recieved his recruitment pack yet.Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Everyone, I was contaced by a recruiter on 20th of May by KBR and packets were sent the next day along with background release for electrician but have not heard anything back since and was told heading to Houston July 6th. I don't want to be a pest and call them but I'm wondereing if things are still moving ahead. Can anyone tell me if this is a normal "waiting period" or should I be worried. Thanks

By all means keep contact lines open as to be sure everything is a go. Also be sure they have recieved papers as you fax or e-mail them in. Papers can be lost in transit. Also be sure your passport and such are in order.
