LA Bayou Girl in Louisiana said: KSNIPER 777, I sent out a few emails today and got a response from a recruiter in Houston, just not from the right division. He told me that my husband's profile on the web site showed him to still be in Iraq working and that is why he has not been called yet. Now wouldn't that be great if he was in Iraq??? One thing is for sure I would not be spending hours on end of my time trying to help him get back over there if that were true. I went on the web site and everything on my end is like it is supposed to be. Do you possibly think they are looking at an old internal profile or something?????? I am confused for sure. The recruiter emailed me back a couple of times and said he was going to put it in the right hands. Anything you can think of would cause him to show up as an employee already?????

I guess when he left HR did not close out his file or properly process his PAN. That does happen but at least they are getting it squared away and will make his return a positive.

I have hopes that something positive is going to come of this. That has been my stand the last couple of weeks. Think positive!!!!

Oh I know he wouldn't have contacted you if he wasn't serious about sending him back. All day long that's what those folks do. Good luck anyways, I am still applying my tail off!

Barbara Gallagher,
I am not sure if you handle Truck Driver resumes or not, but I seen others address you about job possibilities. So I was hoping that it might help my chances. I have a passport, TWIC card, 6yrs exp driving and haul hazmat tankers right now. I have applied to numerous job listing on the KBR wesite. If you could possible take a look at mine, or I could email you one directly, I would appreciate you taking the time. Thank you jnorman31@verizon.net

My friend and former coworker just went to iraq as a labor foreman. I have 20 years experience as a construction foreman and want to also go over seas (Iraq) to work. Can anyone provide some good insight as to how to gain employment with KBR.

Barbara Gallagher,

My friend said that he worked with you as the recruiter to obtain employment with KBR. If you are looking for another good labor foreman I am very interested in working overseas.

Thanks,

Terry

It did at least give us a ray of hope that we will hear from the recruiter that hires for logistics. I was about to give up hope of hearing from anyone at KBR. Could not imagine why we did not hear from them. I guess if they thought he was already there that would be a good reason not to call him. We are just going to keep applying now and hope to hear from the right recruiter soon.

Do you have any suggestions as to what we should do now other than just keep applying??? I hope that you are right about this being a positive step. The last few months have been very nerve racking and frustrating. He is just ready to go!!!! He is not used to being home and it is hard for him.

this is from a dyncorp town hall time meeting in afghanistan,
Hi all,

I just came from the DynCorp town hall meeting. I took some notes and wanted to share them with you. I got as much information as I could. Some questions and answers I couldn’t hear but this is what I got. I came away from the meeting less than impressed by the DynCorp staff.

8PM DynCorp Town Hall Meeting

Camp Stone

Heart, Afghanistan

Speaker: Jibreel Turner Tibreel.Turner@dyn-intl.com & www.dyncorprecruiting.com

Jibreel: “We are here to make sure we have the best personnel who can perform and are qualified.”

DynCorp is based out of Falls Church VA. A Sub-Contractor working with DynCorp is TAOS.

TAOS takes care of movement, POL, & DFAC personnel.

Q&A

Q. How much O&M experience does DynCorp have?

TAOS employees will have to purchase their own tickets.

Q. When does R&R begin?
When you leave Kuwait your R&R will begin.

Q. Do we get a hotel in Kuwait before our flight?
No (no clear answer was not given if they will get a hotel in the future)

Q. How do employees get to Kuwait?

Ksniper777 is theere anyway to check on your status for rehire through KBR here stateside. I have tried to contact SEII (KBR's subcontractor overseas) to no avail. I have also tried to contact KBR customer service by email and phone, and no on can tell me who/where I need to send my inquires.

I would hate to think I have been sitting at home all this time while applying for MANY jobs I am qualified for and can/have done, only to find out someone in HR made a paperwork error and they still have me classified as in country.

no I haven't got the background clearence yet...I realize that's the final step. I submitted it on Monday morning and have lived in the same place for 7 years and have had many successful security clearences in the past so it hopefully won't take too long. I still feel like I'm getting the run around from my recruiter because she said if she sends me on the 18th I will go as a labor foreman or on the 11th as an electrician. I said I did not want the labor foreman position because I'm an electrician...why would I go as a labor foreman?? But then I have received emails with both dates on it and she hasn't given me a straight answer on the date or the position offered!

Barbara, can you or any of the KBR recruiters out there please assist me? I was name requisitioned from the area manager of the "B" sites MWR recently, however it is my understanding that no name requisitions are being honored at this time.

I have certain critical certs/experience that he expresses a need for so as to be in compliance with Govn't/Military regs.

I have several recruiters names and numbers but not MWR.
I have done 2 tours in Kuwait/Iraq in different departments. Came home on a medical and it took me longer than the 60 days to get back, so I am starting from square one again.
I would like to get in contact with a MWR recruiter to let them know I have critical certs. I have applied on line with no results some time ago.

(Barbara, you have recruited me in the past.)

Please give this request your every consideration.

Thanks

Just go when you can and be certain to look at the job title when you sign the contract. In a recession, you have to be flexable.

These recruiters get swamped at times and mistakes do happen but they are good about correcting them.

If you want to work i would take what they offer and work 180 days and apply for an electrical job. There are not alot of positions for Electricans right now so if you are offered something other than a electrican's job they will offer it to someone else. If you have not recieved anymore information then that job that was offered to you has probably been offered to someone else and they accepted. It is very competitive right now and trying to demand the job you want is going leave you out in the cold.

I also believe just because you are hired for one position does not mean you will have that position when you get there. My friend was hired for carpenter position and when he got to iraq he was told he would run the incinarator my other friend was hired as labor foreman and now hes a welder.

Please don't misunderstand me, I am grateful for the opportunity to work. I am frustrated by the lack of communication about the job and the difference is $30,000! I have a wife and two kids and I want to know that I will be able to provide for them. Just because they are a large company and we are in a recession doesn't give license to mistreat people. Going to work in a war zone is a big decision, is a bit of clarity too much to ask?
