Sandflea in The deid, Qatar said: taxes are pro rated even if you do not complete the 330. It is not a "all or nothing" exemption. Pay for TCN escort, particularly at Bagram seems really low. You can do better at a location like the Deid and not be in a war zone. But there is no uplift at support bases, just OT. I would love to see that IRS publication. The only way it can be prorated for a year is if you have a qualified 12 months that runs into the previous year. You still have to have 330 out of 365. Refer to IRS publication 54 starting on page 12. |

Afghanistan is different though. I notice he was from England so i am not sure if they are still hiring non US Citizens. I hope i am wrong though. Didn't think about that!

ZX6Chick in Houston, Texas said: Hello everyone! I have been applying for the past 8 months and have yet to hear from any recruiter. My resume is in conjunction with the positions I have applied for. Does anyone know how long it takes to hear from a recruiter? I have spoken to 2 recruiters who have said that they will forward my info to the appropriate recruiter but it is taking forever! Does anyone have any suggestions? Keep applying. You may need to polish your cover letter and resume (i.e. convince them that you will not demob - recruiters get their bonus upon completion of your 1 year contract). If your resume match their needs, they will email and call you to discuss the position. If the recruiter would tell you that he/she will forward your resume to the hiring authority, you are basicallly in. 99% of the time, the hiring authority will follow the recruiter's recommendation. Best of Luck |

When was the last time you spoke to I recruiter. A recruiter called me told me she would called back in about a week that was March 24,2010 I haven't heard back from her since. The position I applied for was Document Data Tech my resume had already been forward to the hiring person for that dept. in which said my resume stood out with the manager and he was impressed. My status on Fluor board still says "Under Review". Anyone know what's going on? |

Try giving her a call back or email her. Let her know you are still interested. |

I was hired as an Administrative Associate for Retail Fuel. Currently I am training in Tallil, before our mission kicks off. We were out of Houston in 6 days (mostly rehires and medical comebacks). I was scheduled to go to Afghanistan as a Laborer in Nov. 2010, but was DQ'ed for my BMI. I dropped the weight, and thank God I didn't go over then. This job pays better, and I think is more suited to my backgound. This is my second and hopefully last hitch. I am gonna rock it til the wheels fall off. Just stay up on the current postions, and if you need to revamp you resume - LOGCAP4JOBS.com. Not trying to solicit.....but some people need to look at their resume not being up to par as the reason they are not getting called. These recruiters see LITERALLY thousands of resumes a week. Good luck and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you all! |

Daneris Cruz in Milford, New Hampshire said: Has anyone been applying for admini jobs or have been hired in that capacity? There is not a lot of talk in the forums about administrative jobs, and yes I have searched and found very little information and applicants. I have applied for all of the kbr admini jobs, the administrative jobs for Fluor are different because they require more skill such as supervising employees. Kbr administrative jobs seem fairly traditional based on the description. Sorry - my post before was in response to this one.... |

We were out of Houston in 6 days Hi, Thanks for the response, I was starting to wonder if they were hiring foreign nationals for those jobs since many of them are well educated and able to speak and write in English. People from India for example, I have been applying for many jobs and my cover letter and resume are very good I am certain of that. I have a bachelors and an associates degree but not a lot of work experience. If you have any information it would be greatly appreciated! I have spent dozens of hours researching on linkedin and sending emails. The ultimate flaw in this brillant plan lol is that I have never come across a profile that states that they recruit for administrative assistant, dispatch, or equipment specialists. Or any combination of terms that might have to do with those jobs. So basically I wasted time and maybe annoyed some people, although I only email people once so I could not have made a terrrible impression:-D If you have any info that you could share that would be great, a little desperate here:-D No hard feelings if you do not want to its your choice. Thank you! daneris_cruz@student.uml.edu |

Need to know if I should apply for every journeyman position available on KBRs site or is that just going to hurt my chances? |

My opinion (for what it's worth) is to apply for a couple of positions every few days. It is my understanding that applicants are sorted by submition date, that some recruiters never get past the 10 most recent applicants. When I applied there were 18 jobs that I fit, I applied for 2-3 every other day and was gone to Houston in 3 weeks from the time I first applied. By the way Fluor just posted 6 sparky jobs along with a bunch of other jobs. Hey KS,

Besides Fluor is not looking for expats only FN's from the balkans. I withdrew all of my entries, not interested in all that money plus the grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence for some of us :) |

The grass isn't greener, a little more money, same crapy living conditions. Stay in Iraq if you can find something thats going to last. The living conditions are getting worse, more people being put in the same space. I would go back to Iraq, Qatar or Baharain in a minute. Actually I applied with Ratheon to goto the south pole, it has to be better than here. You are right about the FN's from the Balkins, but they are also sending alot them back home to the Balkins to. No more Bosnian coffe breaks, they fired a bunch a few weeks ago. |

I guess Fluor figures they can save a buck but i guess it is not like it use to be. Over crowding the tents is a disaster waiting to happen because someone will want to smoke and a small fire will cause a major disaster. Then the fingers pointing will start. Stay Safe, hell i would try the South Pole LOL just to say i was there :) |

I have a professional resume that I thought looked pretty good. FRUSTRATED!!!!! You guys just need to have a little patience! Do you have any idea how many resumes from qualified electricians they are probably getting?? Thousands. It does not matter how many years experience you have or what license, it takes time to process all that stuff. Your happy with your resume, you submitted it, not you just have to play the waiting game. People have waited 6 months or more to get a call. Be patient is my best advice. |

I know a lot of guys are out of work and the money is phenomenal with these jobs. It is just hard to see the jobs posted, continually going down from a page to just under 10. Your right though patients is needed. I have never tried to get on with one of these contractors and really didn't know what to expect. |

Electrician in Springfield in Springfield, Missouri said: Does anyone know what Flour Daniels pays their electricians in Afghanistan? Any info would be good. Thanks Pay with Fluor will depend on the position they hire you for. Foreman is 4200.00 base, superitendant is 5000.00, I beleive. I am unsure of others--such as anything below foreman level though I imagine they have em. Its good pay with uplifts and 12/7s and RR pay and sign on and EOC bonus. There is more info on Fluor perhaps on indeed Logcap IV Info site. Also a formula that will help you figure out annual income can be found there as well as here I beleive--you just need a base pay number to figure it out. And formula works for KBR and Fluor, probably with Dyno too but I am not familiar with them, ie= what they are offering. Master--if you can get a slot as with KBR as is/ was 5000.00 as far as base pay. Sorry I can not recall the journeyman rate of pay for KBR, but I am sure someone else would know. Also as far as up lifts there is a very on that too, currently Fluor is offering 80% in afghanistan, in Iraq, KBR was offering 75%, so you'll need to confirm those numbers--or guesstimate for now. Best of luck. |

Blue Camel : I have been trying to find out about the living quarters in Iraq for Truck drivers. I've had answers about living in tent they think. But no one can tell me for sure. I've seen some pics of quarters that are small metal buildings (with air conditioners)I can't see a big company like KBR not having reasonable quarters for their employees. I'm not naive' , I don't expect a 4 star hotel. But a 1 or 2 would be at least livable.

Pretty much depends where your at in country. If your on a base it will be containers or a hooch. Could be wet or dry. Dont think there are many in Iraq living in tents. Afghanistan is a whole nother story. |
