My hubby didnt have to take it.. they waived it for him and many (if not all) of the Electricians.. But from what I have seen on the forum, just answer truthfully, try not to get stressed about the test itself.. Maybe if Debbie is still on the forum can give you more info (she's the one we all look to) ... but if you go back a few pages you may be able to catch a few post with people being concerned about the WABI... (for the meantime) and then someone who has actually taken the test or whose hubby has taken the test can shed more light...

I just wanted to reply because sometimes when I have a pressing question I get anxious and want it answered... give it a few more hours and the comments will come rolling in..

futuretimes in Fort Myers, Florida said: Hello. My Mom is Leanne and my Dad is Ken. He called from Iraq last night. 8 hours time difference so it was 4:00 in the morning for him. He was in good spirits though. He is at Camp Speicher right now. As we learned on the forum, where he was going was changed a couple of times. Looked the camp up online and it seems like a camp with tons of amenities. His job also got changed but he says he likes it. Still hard with him so far away and the Christmas holiday arriving. My husband, Kevin just finished up processing in Houston yesterday. His name is Kevin. He is supposed to go to a camp in Tallil. Not sure of the name of the camp. He is unsure when his class will be out of Houston. Not many made it through processing. About 270 out of about 400. I guess there are probs getting flights out. All is well though, today I am going to overnight him a christmas care package to Houston as he believes he will be in Houston for the holiday. Any updates and info I get on either I will be sure to post so y'all know. Take care and Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!

Futuretimes: I assumed that your dad was in the group that my hubby's group was waiting for to begin training.. but mine is at Victory.. well I know its hard to be away from our loved ones but its such a relief to know that they are finally in country and not in the air or on their way to a base..

Good Morning Everyone. I hope all are well, I'm just catching up on the forum. I heard form my hubby via email yesterday and be phone but I missed his calls due to I was at work and couldn't answer my cell because of rules that the compnay has that made me mad. But I did get an email from him so that made things better. He left Houston on 12/16 and he is now in Kandahar. Says that he has training to do there for about a week or so he thinks and then he will be going to another location. His email said that he is ok but that it is very wet and muddy there. He voicemail he left sounded as if he may have a cold or allergies. He also said that their are a lot of people there and that it is hard to use the phone. Iam going better today but the last few days were not so good. I was very low but I picked my slef up and dusted myself off and told myself that I have to be strong for him.Because he is gong this for me and him and our little girl Taylor. Well ladies on a better note I hope all of you have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I work as a CSR for General Aviation, so I'm trying to keep busy by working as much as I can. Thanks to all of you for being there for me. If I did have the forum I'm not sure what I would do besides go crazy. Ya'll are the best and I'm so proud of our guys. Well got to get ready for work and I hope you all have a great day.

They are looking at answers responded to that would indicate that you are not a problem solver, angried easily, hot head. If you use common sense to respond there should be no problem.

WABI: My husband was stressed but they ask questions to see if you
get along with others Example: if you had your work all done and you
see your partener didn't would you go help (of Course) hobbies
(love to walk the dog and read) not jump out of airplanes.
if your coming up to a yellow light would you run it (Hell no)
just simple questions that if you were a boss you would want those answers. They ask same questions only in different ways to try and trick you. Just don't be cocky with your answers and all will be ok. GOOD LUCK

Its only the electricians that go through one week training at Baghdad. I think you do your driving paperwork too and one day hands on training.

Stacy-Ann L in Granada Hills, California said: I am a TPU soldier with the US Army and was wondering, if I get a job offer from KBR how would I do my drills with the reserves?
I was on active duty for over three years before signing up with the reserves. I've been unemployed since I left active duty May of this year, Ive applied to various jobs but not able to land one yet. I am thinking of going back to active duty due to financial hardship.
Would I be able to drill overseas while on a contract with KBR? Is this even possible?
Thank you

Stacy, if I'm not mistaken your reserve unit should either release you from your contract or allow you to miss your drills because you are technically working for the military in some capacity. If I'm not mistaken any further I believe you must be performing a job similar and/or identical to the job you perform for the military. Example, you're an Food Service Specialist in the US Army Reserves, and you are hired by KBR as a Food Service Technician = no problems. Check with your unit, but I'm fairly certain that I'm correct.

Has anyone been to or have loved ones at Al Asad Air Base in Iraq? I was told by my recruiter that I could bring any personal electronics like an iPod or laptop with me there? I find that hard to believe given that that base is huge and almost as big and populated as the Green Zone. Can anyone shed some light about this base and if it is true?

Al ans talking about buying a laptop now .In Houston they will tell you what you can take. Alan mailed his cell phone home before leaving Houston. Wow plane crash in denver on its way to Houston, they say only 2
serious, 37 injured, they closed three runways , hope any of
our guys get out to houston today. THe snow here just keeps falling the paper said this morning we have had an average of 24 inches this month and it just keeps coming.
Brendo: e-mail your recuiter and ask them if you can bring the items you want. Then copy down the response and bring to Houston. That way you have proof that they said you could bring them. Rules change pretty quick though.

Hello everyone. I was offered a position in Administrative Associate to go to Iraq or Afghanistan. Do I have do do some kind of training for that position in Houston while processing? Once I go process to Houston what the chance of me securing my position overseas? Do they have another testing if I can qualify to that specific job? What kind of work would I be doing as an Admin Associate once they fly me overseas? I'm just curious. Thanks everyone and happy holiday!

She also told me that I can't bring any type of iPod or laptops there, is this true? Does anyone have any info on those bases? Is there any information that my recruiter can give me about the base that I will be going to? I've been in the Air Force for the past six years and been to Iraq three times and I never heard of a place that you can't bring any of those personal items, what do they expect you to keep yourself sane!! Any info would greatly help I have to start the paperwork asap.

Well I just left the B-site and was there for 20 months. You can bring your laptop and ipods but, you cannot bring in cell phones or mass storage devices like 500 gig hard-drives although they do sell them at the PX. I had one the entire time I was there. Which camp in the b-sites are u going to. I was at B6, its a nice quiet camp but, compared to other sites the b sites are low on the totem pole.

That's very interesting, because I was told I'm going to a B1 base, and I COULD NOT bring laptops or Ipods. I am very interesting in getting some more informaton. Can you buy laptops and Ipods once you're on the base, or are they forbidden entirely? Also, has anyone been to a B1 base...what are the living conditions like. You say that the B bases are lower standards than other bases, but I was told the opposite. Please elaborate...anyone.

I've been told that B1 is Al Asad Air Base, my recruiter told me that I am going there also. And from what I know being prior Air Force, I just got out on Dec 2, that it is a huge base and that it has a lot of amenities. So this confuses me also. Ever KBR camp in on a US base so why do they have it that every military member can bring laptops, storage devices, mp3 players with them but KBR which is in that same base can't? I've been on three deployments to Iraq, Baghdad, Balad, and Ali and every single one that I've been to to brought all of that even my cell phone, using it as my address book.

I agree with you Brendo, I have been on 2 year-long deployments to Iraq. I've had a 500 GB Hard-drive, an Ipod, Laptop, USB device, and anything else you can name while I was there. I am almost 100% certain that the soldiers/airmen/marines on these bases have these amenities. So...I would love more insite on this from someone who has first hand experience.

Honestly, it's all according to necessity. I can only speak for my specific case. I put my application on the website and applied in August 2007. I heard from them approximately 2 weeks ago, so it took almost a year and a half. If I were you, I wouldn't count of it, or rely on it. I would simply go on with my life and try to find other jobs, yet still keep your resume updated on their site.

Ok caught up some more from the weekend:
JDCS thank for clarifying the calling cards you got. Wow. Amazing as far as the minute you have gotten and used already for 5.00. Seems you got a really good deal.

JDCS, with regard to employment. I know what you are saying. We actually read a article this weekend from the national IBEW newsletter and they were saying there is actually a shortage of fully qualified electricians across the country that they were concerned was gonna get worse before it got better?

Jean, as switch said, the only things to effect background check–financial wise-- is child support and if you owe back federal taxes–IRS. And even at these there is a cut off point. I believe it is like, for child support if you owe less than 2500.00 u can go- and for IRS less than 5000.00 u can –unless this has changed since I first started reading this board.

Coni and Leanne, I am about 2 hrs from Tampa too. Coni we had a moose lodge up north that my mother’s family was involved in and my hubby’s family was involved in a moose lodge out in Colorado–so I have been to functions of.

Has anyone heard from operator? Haven’t seen any post from him for a while. Hope he got the call he was waiting for.
Ok if I do not get back to the boards until after Christmas want to once again wish everyone a good one.

Hi Falconhobo, you are right they do need truck drivers. Did you catch the post a few pages back from the KBR rep who mentioned the qualifications needed. The rep may be busy with the holidays, but has been really good about bumping applications for those who post here that are looking for work in lines they are really in need of. My understanding is they get 100s even 1000s of applications so some of them get buried. I am sure it is just a matter of time and they will contact you. I also imagine January is gonna be a very busy mth for them.

There are special circumstances. Anyone who owes over $2500 in back child support will not be allowed to go overseas UNLESS they provide something signed from their/a personal case worker stating it is ok that they go over, with the intent of fully recovering and repaying all debts owed. I have had some people who owed money to back child support and were unable to get that signature obtained, so they chose to take out loans from banks, payed off the child support and just payed off the loan. There are many ways to work this out.. it is up to the state and the man/woman that owes the money. :)
ALSO, if we bring you in a do a background and you make no mention of the child support, and you get "popped" during the background, you will be disquailfied from our system and sent home.
