Hi guys, Been offered a position as a spark out in Iraq. My only worry is ive heard there trying to flood Iraq with sparks to try and complete it before they pull the miltary out in Dec 2011. I'm only interested if i can serve a full year, because of tax complications, and if im only out there till decemeber, i'll end up paying tax, alot of! And i wont earn anymore than in my current position by the time thats happened. Does anyone know whats actually happening, and when the contract is due to end? Cheers |

Yeah, Loads of electrician jobs have appeared on the KRB careers page the last few weeks. Certainly looks like there trying to flood it with labour! If i had been offered a position in Kabul i would take it, as like you've said, work is busy there, and i don't see the contract ending anytime soon. |

i dont either, i just went to a job fair down in alabama for fluor, fluor is really takin afghanistan, they called my name and i talked to them but it was the same thing kbr told me,i need a state electrical lisence from my home state, so thats why i took the job with kbr for laborer forman, just tryin to get my foot in the door, besides that the economy is very bad, hard to find work, i dont guess i would worry to much about things, recruiters tell me once you git in u can sign one contract after another, i reckon it is true, i have had four different recruiters tell me that from 4 different companies, and i have another friend who just got called from kbr and offered him a job as a laborer foreman, hes not an electrician but he asked about the contracts, she told him no worries u can keep signin them,so i reckon they are tellin us the truth |
