They should have told you the salary amount when they offered you the job. The contract is for 1 year but is an open end contract meaning after your year you can stay as long as you want. Work conditions are long days, extremely hot summers, and very tiresome. You don't get a lot of sleep, and expect to work atleast 12 hours a day/7 days a week for 4 straight months. After the 4 months you get a r&r for about 2 weeks. Living conditions are actually pretty ok considering your in the middle of a war. Most likely you will be living in a small bhut with pretty much everything you need. You have a px there to buy supplies, tv's, computers, pretty much anything. Other than the occasional random gun fire living conditions aren't that bad.

What they most likely mean by that is you will get paid on a 85,000 a year salary the first six months and then a 120,000 year salary the second 6 months..... not that you will make 85,000 in six months.... broke down it means the first 6 months your will get paid 7083.00 a month for the first 6 months and then 10000.00 a month for the second 6 months. make sense??

Is it Iraq or Afghanistan? There is a big difference between the two. Iraq, you will be going outside the wire. Afghanistan, you never leave the site. The living conditions are much better in Iraq. I know guys that have been here for almost a year and they are still living in tents. I am not sure what B-hut Jeremy was in that had everything that you need, mine is a 6 X 9 ft plywwod box with an outlet and a bed in it. The shower is 50 yards away and the dust is incredible. Don't count on a px having what you need, there might not even be a px where they send you, I have been to 3 camps that didn't even have one. Bottom line is, in Iraq you work alot harder and it is more dangerous, Afghanistan the living conditions suck. Hope this helps you. By the way, I have never anybody with any type of pay plan like the one you mentioned above. I would ask for some more info on that.
